Description

In a world where Everything Is Content - Beth McColl, Ruchira Sharma and Oenone are here to guide you through the stories that have ignited the online zeitgeist each week.

Films, viral long-reads, Instagram scandals, reality TV obsessions…: whether it's fine art or a TikTok trend, if you can post about it on the internet - then we can and will turn it into discourse.

Every week, Beth, Ruchira and Oenone will obsess over the pop-culture culture stories that fascinate us all and weigh-in on the conversations that they have incited online. Why are we so interested in these stories? And what does this say about us as we try to navigate life in the *real world*

Get in huns, we're about to make some content!

We’re everywhere, we’re so Julia! This week on Everything Is Content - we’re discussing what some critics are calling the pop album of the year - Brat. Charli XCX has given the 30-something girlies the green light to go out partying… will we take her up on the offer? Then we’re going to discuss the Channel 4 adaptation of Candice Carty-Williams’ mega bestseller Queenie - does it meet up to our expectations? And lastly - we’ve taken the bait and we’re going to talk about the big argument on X this week - is it okay to be naked in front of your children? Get involved in the convo on Instagram @everythingiscontentpod! Today, Oenone is in conversation with actress, playwright and activist Danai Gurira. Danai plays the beloved character Michonne in one of our favourite shows - The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead is back with a new spinoff series - The Ones Who Live - which sees Michonne reunite with her husband Rick after they were separated in a post-zombie-apocalyptic world. We find out what it’s like to portray a love story in such a high stakes world, why Danai thinks The Walking Dead captured audiences from its very first pilot, and her experiences as an executive producer, lead and writer on the series. All episodes of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live are available exclusively on Sky and Now. You can binge all 11 series of The Walking Dead there as well! Follow Danai on Instagram @danaigurira—Follow us on Instagram:@everythingiscontentpod @beth_mccoll @ruchira_sharma@oenone ---This episode of Everything Is Content was produced by Faye Lawrence and Ollie Braddy for We Are GrapeExec Producer: James Norman-FyfeMusic: James RichardsonPhotography: Rebecca Need-Meenar Artwork: Joe Gardner  Hosted on Acast. Oenone’s back on good old fashioned British soil so we’re all back in the studio together again, and boy does it feel good! Join the girlies for the biggest debate we have probably ever had on the podcast… is the term ‘hot rodent’ a compliment or is it derogatory? We also dive into some of the nuance behind the return of Loaded - are we going to welcome erotica in back into our newsagents with open arms? We also get into bookworm mode to discuss one of the most hotly anticipated books of the summer - Coco Mellors’ second book Blue Sisters. Don't worry - the conversation is spoiler free for anyone who hasn't read the book yet!Wanna chat? Today we’ll be taking a deep dive into the fountain of youth for our second beauty special - and this time we’re talking about ageing. Has looking become replaced being skinny as the toxic beauty standard of today? Join Beth, Ruchira and Oenone as we discuss some of the gorgeous women who have chosen to age visibly in the public eye, how anti-ageing pressure can impact men as well as women and how the pressure to look young has trickled down to primary school age children. If you have anything you’d like to add to the conversion - you can get in touch with us on Instagram @everythingiscontentpod. Join Beth, Ruchira and Oenone to discuss the effect that cultural representations of makeovers have had on us - and how makeover and glow up culture is manifesting itself today. We’d love to hear what you think about the - sometimes ugly - world of beauty. Well, what’s this then?! Welcome to the first edition of Everything In Conversation - where Beth, Ruchira and Oenone chat to the people behind the content that we’ve all been loving! This week - we will be in conversation with Eliza Clark, the author of Boy Parts and Penance. We LOVED Penance when we read it as our book club choice - and we had loads of questions for Eliza - so we asked her to come and chat to us about the book that we all loved so much! Was she a chronically online Tumblr girlie? Does she actually care about true crime? And what is it like when you get compared to your characters, especially when those characters do murders…Penance is out in paperback this week on 2nd May. Hello! We’ve got another episode of Everything Is Content for you - this week the internet has slightly soured the way we’re looking at Baby Reindeer, did we all miss the point of the show? Drake has been using AI in a diss track - is it ethically ambiguous or is this the new frontier of diss tracks? We also, of course, discuss Taylor Swift’s new album - The Tortured Poets Department. In the week that Jojo Siwa entered her bad gal era - here on Everything is Content we’re unpacking what it means for a former child star to graduate into adulthood. How does the media respond when child-stars reinvent themselves… and why is Jojo Siwa claiming to have invented gay pop? We also take a dive into a story that has lit up the timelines this week of a husband who ghosted his pregnant wife, and her crusade on Facebook to try and find him and serve him divorce papers. Bonjour - we’ve gone international! Oenone has moved to Paris for the spring (oooh la la!) so we’re coming to you from both sides of the channel today. We’ve got something a (tiny) bit different for you in this episode - the internet was set on fire last week by The Cut who published a personal essay about an age gap relationship, so we've decided to go DEEP diving into both the article itself, and our general perception of age gaps in relationships. We also celebrate on behalf of our US listeners - who have had Sex and The City drop in full on their Netflix this week. What are some of the most iconic moments and does the show have a Gen Z equivalent? We think it’s about time that we read another book together - so let us know on Instagram @everythingiscontentpod if you’d be up for reading Middlesex with us - or drop us a suggestion if there’s anything else you want us to read as a group! —GQ: Hunter Schafer on Art, Love, Ambition—and Life Beyond EuphoriaCHANNEL 4: Married At First Sight Australia NETFLIX: The Parisian Agency JEFFREY EUGENIDES: The Marriage Plot JEFFREY EUGENIDES: MiddlesexTHE CUT: The Case For Marrying An Older ManTHE INDEPENDENT: There’s a reason we love to talk about age-gap relationshipsROLLING STONE: Aaron Taylor-Johnson: Britain’s next leading man BBC: What will Gen Z make of Sex And The City, now it's on Netflix?VARIETY: Sex and the City’ on Netflix: What the Ultimate Period Piece Might Mean to a Gen Z Audience—Follow us on Instagram:@everythingiscontentpod @beth_mccoll @ruchira_sharma@oenone ---Everything Is Content is produced by Faye Lawrence for We Are GrapeExec Producer: James Norman-FyfeMusic: James RichardsonPhotography: Rebecca Need-Meenar Artwork: Joe Gardner  Hosted on Acast.
