On this Wednesday edition of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast, Ashley Bastock and Mary Kay Cabot finish recapping everything Browns-related from the NFL annual meetings in Orlando. First, the two discuss the NFL’s impending announcement on the league’s first-ever Brazil game. Will the Browns play abroad against the Eagles to open the season or will it be the Green Bay Packers? We could know as soon as this week, but what we do know is that it's down to those two teams. Then, they get into the big news from Browns GM Andrew Berry: How Nick Chubb’s recovery is going. Mary Kay gives some insight on the next step into Chubb’s rehab from his season-ending knee injury that required two surgeries: load running. The two also discuss how the next three months will be key in determining Chubb’s availability for the beginning of the season, and the roles of the new running backs in the room. Amari Cooper was also a big topic of discussion for Berry, and what he had to say about the possibility of extending their No. 1 wide receiver. It seems like it’s inevitable at this point for multiple reasons, including a cap standpoint, the wide receiver market as a whole, and how valuable he has been in Cleveland. Mary Kay and Ashley also discuss what Berry had to say about Deshaun Watson’s recovery and another indication he gave that the quarterback’s rehab from season-ending shoulder surgery is going well. Finally, the two discuss the trade deadline moving back one week, and how it wasn’t exactly what the Browns proposed ahead of the league's annual meetings, but is still a good compromise.  We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! It's the big story for the Cleveland Browns in the years to come: What's going to happen with their stadium? On this episode of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast Ashley Bastock checks in with Mary Kay Cabot from the NFL annual meetings in Orlando and discuss everything Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam said regarding the possibilities of renovation and relocation. The two discuss the change in tone from the Haslams compared to a year ago, when they said they were firmly committed to renovating Cleveland Browns stadium on the lakefront. Now, the Haslams say, they are also open to building a dome stadium in Brook Park. Mary Kay and Ashley discuss both options and what they might mean, as well as the possible rippling impacts of both, and how neither seems to be outwardly favored over the other In addition to the stadium's future, the two also delve into the other big topic for the Browns owners: extensions for GM Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski that are imminent. Finally, the two touch on what NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had to say about the NFL's first ever Brazil game, and the Browns being one of two teams in the running to face the Philadelphia Eagles abroad. The biggest question for the Browns this offseason is how Deshaun Watson's recovery is going following his season-ending shoulder surgery, so that's of course a big topic for the team as the NFL annual meetings take place in Orlando. On this episode of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast Mary Kay Cabot checks in from those meetings with Ashley Bastock to recap everything head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Monday. The two talk about Watson's recovery, as well as what Stefanski had to say about the meeting between himself, the quarterback, and new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey out in L.A. They also discuss Watson beginning to throw, and what this might all mean for his timeline to return. Stefanski still not providing an answer on playcalling duties is another topic of discussion. Mike Vrabel's hiring also came up on Monday, and Mary Kay and Ashley discuss why he will be such a great resource for the Browns. The two touch on the other big player who suffered a season-ending injury, talking the latest on Nick Chubb rehabbing from the gruesome knee injury that ended his 2023 campaign in Week 2. Finally, Mary Kay previews what Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam will get asked on Monday evening. We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! The Browns introduced backup quarterback Jameis Winston on a Zoom call on Wednesday after he officially signed his contract. Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe all participated in the call and they discussed what they heard from Winston on Wednesday's Orange and Brown Talk Podcast. They discuss how Winston will be able to help Watson on and off the field and the reasons Winston is such a good fit as a player who can help guide Watson through his comeback this season. Then they spend more time on the extension the Browns gave to wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. Why did the Browns feel the need to do the extension so soon? Why did they not do the same with Elijah Moore after they made the trade for him last offseason? We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! Monday marked the two-year anniversary of the Browns trading for quarterback Deshaun Watson, a defining moment for the franchise. Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe looked back on the deal and where things stand now. Are the Browns better off at the quarterback position or still in the same place they were before the deal? Are Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski safe regardless of how this trade plays out? Were there other options that would have been better and would the Browns have made the trade again? They dig into the whole thing on Tuesday's Orange and Brown Talk Podcast. Then, Mary Kay and Dan discuss the extension the Browns gave to wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who they acquired this offseason and why they decided to do this extension now. The Browns are adding former Ravens backup Tyler Huntley to their quarterback room. He joins Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson as the team's four quarterbacks with the offseason program approaching. Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe discussed all the angles of the Huntley addition on Monday's Orange and Brown Talk Podcast. Is there any reason to be concerned about Winston's status? What does this mean about Watson's comeback from his injury? What about Thompson-Robinson's future? Why didn't the Browns bring back Joshua Dobbs over Huntley? Then they spend some time on the Steelers' new-look quarterback room and discuss the Browns adding Mike Vrabel as a consultant. We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! The first week of free agency has been good to the Browns so far. They added a wide receiver via trade a few days before things got started and then proceeded to solidify their defensive front and linebacking corps while brining back key pieces. What grade do they get so far? It’s the first question Mary Kay Cabot and Dan Labbe answer on Friday’s Hey, Mary Kay! edition of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast. They also talk about the impact Jerry Jeudy could have as well as the status of certain contract restructures as the free agency period continues. The Browns continued adding to their defense on Thursday in free agency, agreeing to deals with defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson and signing linebacker Devin Bush. Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe started their Thursday edition of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast by discussing those two additions to the defense. Can Bush resurrect his career here? How does Jefferson fit on the defensive line? Then they react to what they heard from two of the Browns' free agent signings on Zoom. Both Jerry Jeudy and Jordan Hicks met with the media and they talk about what stood out from each player and their first impressions of two of the Browns' first signees. The Browns' first-wave of free agency included bringing back Za'Darius Smith to reteam him and Myles Garrett on the defensive line. They also brought back Mo Hurst II and Shelby Harris, two important depth players on the line. Is there a big name coming on the defensive line or will they focus on developing young players on the roster and adding through the draft? Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe start Wednesday's Orange and Brown Talk Podcast by discussing the defensive line. They also talk about Mike Williams, who was released by the Chargers on Wednesday, and if the Browns should pursue him. Lastly, they discuss the linebacker room and bring up some signings and departures flying under the radar. We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! The Browns caught nearly everyone off guard when they pivoted and chose Jameis Winston over Joe Flacco as their backup quarterback this season. Winston joins the Browns after being the backup in New Orleans. Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe dig into the Browns decision and how it ended up with Winston as the guy to back up Deshaun Watson. They discuss what they believe went into the decision and what prompted the Browns to make this decision. Is it a better scheme fit than Flacco? They also talk about whether the Browns considered the reaction if Watson struggled with Flacco sitting on the bench -- and if they should have. Then they discuss Winston's off-field issues at Florida State and early in his career and how fans might react to him before they talk about Winston's personality and what he brings as the backup. They end the pod by trying to figure out what might be next for Flacco. We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! Want to become a Football Insider subscriber? Get more info here. The Browns will acquire wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from Broncos when the NFL's new league year begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. They are giving up a fifth and sixth round pick for the receiver. Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe react to the trade in Part 1 of their Browns free agency podcast on Monday. They discuss why the trade made sense for the Browns and what Jeudy brings to the team's wide receiver room. What impact will Amari Cooper have on him? How does he fit in the offense? Why make this move now? They also discuss Russell Wilson signing with the Steelers and what it means for the AFC North. Will Wilson revive his career in Pittsburgh? Does it make the Steelers a contender? Then they make some predictions that are sure to age poorly given the timing of this podcast. We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! Mary Kay Cabot and Dan Labbe start Thursday's Hey, Mary Kay! edition of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast by discussing if Flacco could actually come back to Cleveland? Why are he and his agent putting it out there how much he wants to come back? How could his return impact Deshaun Watson? Are there starting opportunities out there for him? They also talk about if there's a chance Dorian Thompson-Robinson could end up as the backup. Then they answer questions about free agency and the lack of contract restructures so far. The Broncos decided to take on a bunch of dead money and move on from Russell Wilson earlier this week. Could the Browns find themselves in the same boat a year from now? Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe used Wednesday's Orange and Brown Talk Podcast to react to Browns hot takes from our Football Insider subscribers and they start off by discussing if it's possible the Browns could find themselves in a similar spot to Denver in 12 months. Then it's their attempt to predict the Browns quarterback room at the start of training camp and more. We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! The Browns will embark on another free agency period under GM Andrew Berry next week and there are going to be opportunities to upgrade. Mary Kay Cabot wrote about what to expect from the Browns in free agency on Tuesday and we discussed it on the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast. We started with receivers and touched on some names we haven't talked about much this offseason, going over some of our favorites for them to sign this offseason, including one who could become available and is very familiar with Deshaun Watson. They also discuss the move at edge rusher and what they can do to find the right player to pair with Myles Garrett. They wrap up the podcast by making the case for re-signing one of the Browns own free agents. Read Mary Kay's full post here. We were Voted best podcast by Cleveland Magazine readers! The Browns signed Deshaun Watson to a 5-year, $230 million contract after acquiring him in a trade in 2022. We're two years into the deal and Watson has played 12 games and the Browns have played in, and lost, a single playoff game. It's safe to say things haven't exactly worked out. How should we view the Watson contract now with three years left and as many questions remaining now as there were two offseasons ago? Can he ever live up to it and can the Browns still make this work if he doesn't? Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe start their Monday Orange and Brown Talk Podcast by discussing Watson's contract and how the Browns can make it work with him. Then they talk some free agency. Should the Browns go after Christian Wilkins? What's the latest on Joe Flacco? How does Mike Evans staying in Tampa Bay impact their plans? The NFL combine is still going on in Indianapolis but we heard from Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry earlier this week and while they didn’t give up much as far as draft and free agency strategy are concerned, there’s still plenty there to pick over. Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe offered up some of their lingering thoughts from this week’s press conferences and what they took away from listening to the Browns braintrust speak on today’s Orange and Brown Talk Podcast. They discuss free agency and what the Browns still need to add as well as what Berry might do with his second round pick before they get into the offensive tackle position and how it will be divvied up. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski spoke at the NFL combine on Wednesday and once again declined to say who will call the plays this season: him or new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe start their Wednesday combine recap podcast by discussing why Stefanski should hang onto his playcalling duties, even with Dorsey in the fold. They also discuss Stefanski and Dorsey traveling to Los Angeles to meet with Deshaun Watson and why it’s important before they revisit the topic of going back to The Greenbrier and Stefanski’s explanation for making the decision to return to West Virginia to start training camp.
