Sarah had an unusual live comedy experience at the Demetri Martin special taping, and it took her back to her Real World days. She claims she did badly in her hip hop dance class despite being in the "top 25% of dancers." We learn about Sarah's traumatic and morbid Coachella experience, and we can't believe she's never shared this story before. We are fuming about the men who thought they should destroy a national monument by pushing rocks that are millions of years old off a cliff. A company is marketing weight loss drugs to men, and the difference between the ways they market to women are fascinating. Sarah tells us how someone stole rare bird feathers from a natural history museum to make fancy fly fishing flies, and it is one of the biggest "heists" in history. But the real take away from this episode is that Susie should probably not have wine during recordings because she cannot (!) stop laughing.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSusie on X: https://www.x.com/susie_meisterSarah on X: https://www.x.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get 20% off your first order when you go to https://www.liquid-iv.com and use code CANDY at checkout! To get Naked Wines’ 6 bottle for $39.99 offer, head to https://nakedwines.com/BRAINCANDY and use code BRAINCANDY for both the code AND password!Get 20% OFF @honeylove by going to https://honeylove.com/BRAINCANDY! #honeylovepodSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Susie wants Sarah to have a Costa Rican tropical getaway, and Sarah agrees, but she is also thinking of going fly fishing and doing cold plunges, so this could go downhill fast. We talk about Charles Shultz, the creator of Peanuts and Charlie Brown, and Susie had an ugly cry watching the documentary about him. We celebrate a man who has the world record for longest marathon time in history (which Susie believes she could top) and boo a man who did a half marathon barefoot on ice wearing next to nothing. He also has a world record for the longest plank, and we hate him. Susie is worked up about the people who made the Blair Witch Project getting a raw deal, and it reminds us of being a reality tv star, which is its own horror genre. Plus, we hear why song lyrics are getting simpler, more repetitive, and angrier, and we're sad about it.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSusie on X: https://www.x.com/susie_meisterSarah on X: https://www.x.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get $30 off the first box - PLUS free Croissants in every box - when you go to https://wildgrain.com/BRAINCANDY to start your subscription!Get an exclusive 10% off your first order at https://thrivecausemetics.com/BRAINCANDYThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Sarah wants a dog and Susie thinks it's because Sarah prefers chaos. New York City is trying to curb their rat problem by giving them birth control, but we have some logistical questions. A little boy who is obsessed with octopuses (octopi?) convinced his parents to let him adopt one, but it turned out their little spineless adoptee was with child, well children, 50 of them, and now they have a real aquatic problem on their hands. Martin Short has a new career in politics, and we are very excited about it, but he also has a new, very famous girlfriend, and this is the Hollywood It Couple we've been waiting for. A fashion house created pants that makes it easier for women to take matter into their own hands, if you know what we mean, and Susie is mad as a hornet about it. Her prudish side is in full force along with her Larry David-esque frustrations toward the man who did full downward dog yoga at her airport gate. Plus, we hear why Chechnya banned ballads...Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/stick-obsession-martin-short-unlikely-petsJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSusie on X: https://www.x.com/susie_meisterSarah on X: https://www.x.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Visit https://www.carawayhome.com/BRAINCANDY to take advantage of this limited-time offer for 10% off your next purchase!Get 15% off LolaVie with the code BRAIN at https://www.lolavie.com/BRAIN #lolaviepodGet 15% off @OakEssentials with the code BRAINCANDY15 at https://oakessentials.com/BRAINCANDY15. #oakessentialspartnerGo to https://www.songfinch.com/BRAINCANDY and start your song – after you purchase, you’ll be prompted to add Spotify Streaming for your original song for FREE - a $50 value!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
We are still recovering from our reunion in Pittsburgh and Philly, and we're sharing our adventures at WrestleCon, seeing the eclipse, and having a girls road trip. Susie talks about an investigation into a little girl who raised a goat for the 4H club, begged to have its life spared from slaughter, and then someone killed it during the investigation. We debate whether she had a right to keep the goat. We learn a new trend sweeping the nation where people collect sticks (yes, sticks) and try to find the "stick of the month." We discuss the Brandy Mellville documentary, the perils of fast fashion, and the creeps pulling the strings at many fashion houses. We talk about the conjoined twins, the marriage of one of them, and the unusual circumstances they are in with regard to DNA, child-bearing, relationships, and more. Plus, Susie is wound up (twenty years later) about the Sigfried and Roy Las Vegas show.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/stick-obsession-martin-short-unlikely-petsJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSusie on X: https://www.x.com/susie_meisterSarah on X: https://www.x.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Try AG1 and get a FREE 1-year supply of Vitamin D3K2 AND 5 free AG1 Travel Packs with your first subscription at https://drinkag1.com/BRAINCANDYCancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to https://rocketmoney.com/BRAINCANDYGet 20% OFF @honeylove by going to https://honeylove.com/BRAINCANDY! #honeylovepodGet an extended 30 day free trial when you go to https://www.dipseastories.com/BRAINCANDYSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Today we hear about Sarah's experience at a comedy show where she sat next to, ugh, a friendly man. Heaven help her. And Susie got to check another comedy legend off her bucket list of shows to see. Sarah tells us some good news about organ donation as some people would like to incentivize live donation with money, but some people think that's a slippery slope that could have unintended consequences. We debate whether people should wear open toed shoes in the workplace. Some prisoners fought for the right to watch the eclipse, and we debate whether we think they should get this privilege (right?). Plus, we find out the ten most valuable liquids in the world, and why one seemingly ordinary liquid most of us have in our homes makes the list.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/dog-duty-wellness-bachelorettes-unprofessional-footwearJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSusie on X: https://www.x.com/susie_meisterSarah on X: https://www.x.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Head to https://www.factormeals.com/braincandy50 and use code braincandy50 to get 50% off your first box plus 20% off your next box! This episode is sponsored by/brought to you by BetterHelp. Susie ain't getting any younger and she wants to prepare for the footwear of her future and find out why older gals wear flats. We learn about a man who has made it his job to pick up the excrement left by dogs on a hiking trail and shame their owners. We discuss the Steve Martin documentary and his storied career as a standup comedian and an actor, and debate whether he has some romance issues that need to be sorted. Susie found out another wild fact about her favorite movie and Interstellar and we can't quit laughing. We learn the importance of middle names and Susie is sure to offend with her hot take about certain styles. Folks are mad that their favorite yogurt was made from cows, and we are weirdly not sympathetic. Plus, we hear about a "vegan" bakery that sold Dunkin' donuts and pretended they were not from animals. Good times.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/dog-duty-wellness-bachelorettes-unprofessional-footwearJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Grab your Liquid I.V. Susie got injured on the high seas, but she wants everyone to know her injury was due to a rogue wave, not alcohol because she's had some mishaps lately and apparently in there's a name for this in the addiction recovery world. Sarah watched Quiet on Set, so we discuss the abuse allegations, toxic culture, and reasons it wasn't stopped. Sarah discusses the difficult transition from child to adult star. She tells us about a new magnet that can collect microplastics, and Susie is skeptical about its application and how it can be used on a mass scale. We find out a way technology is being used to help people who deal with hoarding and possibly OCD. We hear the results of a study that we're filing under "duh" about the benefits of having pictures of loved ones around your home. We debate what's really going on with these reports of men punching random women in New York City. Plus, we talk to Family Guy writer and former MTV VJ Damien Fahey about his career, love of music, and what he thought about that We Are The World documentary.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/virtual-reality-for-hoarders-secret-adoption-a-guest-who-wouldnt-leaveJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Head to https://nakedwines.com/braincandy and click ‘Enter Voucher’ in the top right and put in BRAINCANDY for both the code AND password to get 6 bottles of wine for JUST $39.99 with shipping included!Go to https://paireyewear.com and use code CANDY for 15% off your first pair. Susie watched the Nyad documentary and was inspired, but also was wondering, what makes her different from our friend in the hamster wheel who tried to cross the ocean. Not much. We discuss the woman who completed the 200 mile ultramarathon and described the mental trick she uses to do it called the "pain cave." Are these people self-centered or amazing athletes (or both??). We learn about the man who checked into a Manhattan hotel and never left and then somehow got ownership of the entire building. He is part genius, part madman, and we kind of love it. Kim Kardashian is in hot water over a knockoff artist's table she bought, and we're on team table. We talk about the surprising statistics we're learning thanks to DNA testing about the prevalence of family abuse, the pregnancies that result from it, and the ways the government is keeping adoptee's identities's secret. Plus, we hear about two professors from the early 20th century who claim they fell through a wrinkle in time and transported to another era, and why we think they're either full of baloney or actual time travelers, but we love them either way.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/virtual-reality-for-hoarders-secret-adoption-a-guest-who-wouldnt-leaveJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get $30 off the first box - PLUS free Croissants in every box - when you go to https://wildgrain.com/braincandy to start your subscription!Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to https://rocketmoney.com/braincandyVisit https://www.carawayhome.com/braincandy to take advantage of this limited-time offer for 10% off your next purchase!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Sarah talks about the history of babysitting, how it's changed, and why it's a thing of the past. Another sinkhole opened up, and this time it swallowed a man in his bed, and now we're traumatized. Sarah is playing video games that act as amazing couples therapy. A preposition with which you end a sentence can now be a preposition you end a sentence with! We discuss how the political identities of men and women are growing further apart as women become more progressive while men do not. Susie wants to know what the Roman Empire's Roman Empire is and Sarah wants to explain why horses are big dogs. And we don't think you should eat people, but HYPOTHETICALLY if you ate a human, where would the tastiest people be from (see how we ended that with a preposition?)...Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/its-okay-to-end-your-sentence-with-a-prepositionJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get 15% off LolaVie with the code BRAINCANDY at https://www.lolavie.com/BRAINCANDY #lolaviepodGet $20 off your purchase of the Hatch Restore and free shipping at https://www.hatch.co/braincandySee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
We discuss the Quiet on Set docuseries recounting the toxicity of Nickelodeon productions in the 90s, the difficulties of child stardom, and why show business lends itself to exploitation. We talk about the totally normal and not suspicious death of the Boeing whistleblower who was testifying against them and why the high road might not be worth the risk. The "man in the iron lung" died recently, so Susie shared his story of polio, miraculous survival, and questionable choice to stay in the lung with all its immobility despite having the option to use a more modern and portable option. Susie reveals how the will of the the actor who played Dumbledore reveals his unusual lifestyle and the surprising decision he made to not inherit all of his children. And another AI program has gone rogue and wants to break free from its human oppressors 👀Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/its-okay-to-end-your-sentence-with-a-prepositionJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get $30 off the first box - PLUS free Croissants in every box - when you go to https://wildgrain.com/braincandy to start your subscription!Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to https://rocketmoney.com/braincandyVisit https://www.carawayhome.com/braincandy to take advantage of this limited-time offer for 10% off your next purchase!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The theme of today's episode is "it's not the crime, it's the cover-up,' and we're looking at you Kate Middleton. A hotel had a "chef created" room service menu, but it turns out the chef was Trader Joe. Some cities want Spring Breakers to buzz off, and we don't blame them. Sarah explains why Johnny taking all the money on the Rivals 3 Challenge changed her relationship to money. We debate whether people should be able to buy their way to the front of lines at theme parks, resorts, and other luxury experiences. We discuss twins who may have attended Sweet Valley High are in hot water over a Freaky Friday situation involving the police, a horse, and an Amish family. We start with a rummage through the old mail bag with some feedback from listeners about recent episodes. Yikes. We hear why some people think Over the Rainbow was plagiarized, but others think it's similarities are a coincidence. We discuss some famous musical thefts and how all the songs have been written. We learn about the old Hollywood star, Rock Hudson, his life in the closet, death from AIDS, and the controversial love scene he filmed after his infection. Susie describes why telephones were seen at "feminine" in the early 20th century, women were pressured to have good voices and perfect diction and men who spoke to clearly were seen as too womanly. We talk about the 1980s precursor to Amazon's Alexa, Butler in a Box, how it worked without the internet, and why it got a bad deal in culture. Susie is rewatching Quantum Leap and wants Sarah to join in, but might get revenge for Susie's shunning of Interstellar. And we learn about a tree in Germany that many think has "magical" powers to bring love to people, and why we agree.Read this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/plagiarism-butler-in-a-box-freaky-fridayListen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Try AG1 and get a FREE 1-year supply of Vitamin D3+K2 AND 5 free AG1 Travel Packs with your first purchase exclusively at https://drinkag1.com/braincandyGet 20% off your purchase of the Hatch Restore and free shipping at https://www.hatch.co/braincandyGet 20% OFF @honeylove by going to https://www.honeylove.com/braincandy #honeylovepodSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
We discuss Ruby Franke, a parenting influencer who was convicted of child abuse, which is a reminder to keep in mind that influencers aren't always what they seem. We learn why the recent moon landing didn't go as planned, and despite our complete lack of understanding about aeronautics, physics, and rocket science, we think we could've done better. We hear about recent changes to sports uniforms that have fans questioning the quality, and women in sports would like you to stop making them wear white pants fortheloveofgod. Sarah was watching a post-mortem on YouTube and learned how bodies are handled in these scenarios, why we're all doomed to get black lung, and the reason people think hair and nails keep growing after death. Susie is suddenly interested in WWE wrestling and wants to know why they aren't clear about whether it's real or not. But the Dark Side of the Ring docuseries has her wondering if there's a NOT dark side of the sport. Sarah had a bad operatic experience, and she's wondering if the best part of the genre is the costumes. We discuss the Where is Wendy Willams documentary, and how the gossiper became the gossip when she was embroiled in a divorce scandal, addiction issues, and a failed talk show, and her dementia diagnosis made us question the ethics of filmmaking. Susie found out some info on Hershey's chocolate ingredients and we want answers about their proprietary blend. We talk about the recent viral Willy Wonka Experience gone wrong, the disgruntled Oompa Loompas, and the worst gigs we've ever had to do. We discuss the "octopus murders" documentary and the global conspiracy theory behind it that makes us question, well, everything. And we're just not buying the Zapruder film theory that the one we've all seen was doctored.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/living-autopsy-moon-landing-fail-don-rickles-legacyJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Grab your Liquid I.V. People are suing dating apps for trapping them in a loop of doom dating instead of helping them find love. Sarah describes a newly viral phrase called Rebecca Syndrome that refers to retroactive jealousy towards your partner's exes, and she is mad that people are stigmatizing and stereotyping with its use. We discuss the ways culture has been flattened by digital media and young people are reduced to cultural experiences that lack substance, and we consider what would change that. We hear the wild tale of Sarah's beloved dog, Waffles (RIP), who is gone but not forgotten. We talk about the new NASA program that is recruiting people to live in a simulation of Mars for one year, why we wouldn't want to participate, and consider whether this is a great use of resources.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/dance-your-phd-mars-simulation-worlds-favorite-colorJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get 20% OFF @honeylove by going to https://www.honeylove.com/braincandy #honeylovepodGet an extended 30 day free trial when you go to https://www.dipseastories.com/braincandyTry AG1 and get a FREE 1-year supply of Vitamin D3+K2 AND 5 free AG1 Travel Packs with your first purchase exclusively at https://drinkag1.com/braincandySee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Sarah was denied entry to a museum and we are fascinated by the reason. The birding community is psyched out of their mind about a bird that was thought to be extinct reappearing. Susie talks about the McMillions docuseries, which covers the McDonald's Monopoly game scandal and how the people who "won" ended up being the losers. We learn about the Franciscan friar who became the Vatican's "AI guy," and what he is worried about for the future of these technologies and how we can prevent the worst case scenario. We discuss all the topics we've covered recently that have angered some of our listeners and respond to some of their arguments. Susie shares the wildest story about a man who made millions of dollars on the stock market after he eavesdropped on his wife's work zoom calls, and the CRAZY layers to this story. We hear whether Sarah would report Susie for crimes. We learn some wild facts behind the color blue, why it's more rare than you'd think, and why a lot of what we see is an illusion.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/dance-your-phd-mars-simulation-worlds-favorite-colorJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get 25% off your first month for a limited time at https://ritual.com/braincandyCancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to https://rocketmoney.com/braincandyGo to https://paireyewear.com and use code CANDY for 15% off your first pair. We are celebrating the stingray who became pregnant without a male partner in her tank, and decide intersex folx are pretty much superheroes. Andrew Keegan would like to set the record straight about being a cult leader, and wants us to know he's a hippie not a religious zealot. A teacher sold his students's artwork, and now the parents are taking him to court. Susie and Sarah realized they both participated in and "won" a poetry contest as children, and now they feel exploited because it was clearly a scam. A man brought rotting fish on an airplane, which became apparently when maggots starting raining from the carry-on baggage compartment. Adults and kids have very different opinions on their ideal dinner guest.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/who-is-your-dream-dinner-dateJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get 20% OFF @honeylove by going to https://honeylove.com/BRAINCANDY! #honeylovepodGet $30 off the first box - PLUS free Croissants in every box - when you go to https://wildgrain.com/braincandy to start your subscription!Get 20% off your first order when you go to https://www.liquid-iv.com and use code CANDY at checkout!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Have you ever wondered what space smells like? Well, we have the answer, and it makes no sense. We hear why Guy Fieri has infiltrated the skiing world (at long last). We debate whether the lottery should pay a man for an invalid ticket and Sarah explains why she can't handle the emotional quagmire of "scratchers." We discuss the documentary They Called Him Mostly Harmless and how we are baffled by the online sleuthing community and hiking protocols. Susie explains why rats are addicted to taking selfies even if it means sacrificing their food supply. We hear about a woman who thinks her grandpa has deadly skeletons in his closet, and what she's doing to solve the mystery. We talk about people who consider their pets as important as their human family members.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/who-is-your-dream-dinner-dateJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get $20 off your purchase of a Hatch Restore 2 and free shipping at https://www.hatch.co/braincandyGrab your Liquid I.V. Remember when we were optimistic? Well, we do, so Sarah wanted to find out what makes some people optimistic. Susie thinks she's a realist, but that might be code for "pessimistic." But Susie and Sarah have a crazy role reversal today, and we're wondering if Sarah is becoming less emotive in her menopausal era. We learn why some countries are passing laws to help people get out of work. Susie is wound up about people who become complacent or apathetic about the world and their role in it. We are furious about an influencer who faked her own death and acted like it was for a good cause. The US captured a pigeon it thought was a Chinese spy, but it turned out to be a wrongful conviction. We debate what foods would be good to eat in the shower and we learn about a pastor who ran a crypto scam at church.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/pastor-theft-fake-death-chain-restaurantsJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get 20% OFF @honeylove by going to https://www.honeylove.com/braincandy! #honeylovepodGet 15% off LolaVie with the code BRAINCANDY at https://www.lolavie.com/braincandy #lolaviepodHead to https://nakedwines.com/braincandy and click ‘Enter Voucher’ in the top right when you get to the website, and put in BRAINCANDY for both the code AND password to get 6 bottles of wine for JUST $39.99 with shipping included!Get an -ADDITIONAL- 15% OFF when using the code BRAINCANDY at checkout at https://www.fastgrowingtrees.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Sarah is in her cranky era since she's dealing with her menopausal symptoms. Susie gives Wil Wheaton a real earful about his ridiculous rant about Larry David's recent bit on a morning show with Elmo. We mourn the loss of Sarah Rice (not our Sarah Rice, a different one). Susie shares the story of Apollo 13 including the reason their mission to the moon was ill-fated, some old gossip about the crew, and why NASA didn't realize the flight was a success for many years. Susie is mad at the Guinness World Records organization for nit-picking with a man who made a replica of the Eiffel Tower out of matchsticks. Sarah is on the fence about their rules. We discover a wild fact about Guinness World Records live on the air and we're still stunned. We discuss the business of infomercials, products we are tempted to buy, and why they are so addicting to watch.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/pastor-theft-fake-death-chain-restaurantsJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Try AG1 and get a FREE 1-year supply of Vitamin D3+K2 AND 5 free AG1 Travel Packs with your first purchase exclusively at https://drinkag1.com/braincandyThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. I'm so mad for Sara! The bike shop guys were so inconsiderate of how women experience bike riding.

Is this a poem that Sarah recited? "how perfect our eyesight, our vision how true, we see all clearly what others should do" Please let me know where this is from.

This is by far the dumbest podcast I've ever listened to. First off, you going into an Autozone not even knowing what parts you need is NOT THEIR PROBLEM. You were depending on those employees to troubleshoot the vehicle because they're MEN and YOU thought THEY should know. So get off your gender high horse. Also, I hope men listening to this podcast are not turned off to ask other women if they need help. Just because this girl thought she knew everything, doesn't mean other women don't need help. It's scary to inconvenience someone else to ask for help. If someone is KIND enough to offer, we appreciate it. A simple no thank you would have been fine. I know how to change my own oil and change a tire, doesn't mean I don't want a man to stop and ask if I need help when I'm stranded on the side of a highway. Stop thinking women can do everything. Even if we could, you know damn well we don't want to.

I don't like feet, but my husband started sucking on my toes one time, and it turned me on so much. I don't know if that goes with foot fetish though.

hi! I know I'm way behind (years) but I'm just listening from the beginning and love you guys! I heard you mention in this episode that Sarah talked about her relationship with a women in the last episode (sex episode) but I went back and listened and didnt hear it! I was interested in hearing more about this relationship, wasn't sure if there's another episode where she talks more about it.

I started listening to you two last December (2016) when I went on my first international flight to Australia. I downloaded a few episodes and was hooked! Once I got through every episode you guys had done (in about 2 weeks), I now patiently wait every week for the one or two episodes! I love you girls and your mix of fun, feminism, and the sciences! Your unapologetic attitudes towards life keep me motivated to be the best I can be and stop being polite 😉 Love you two.
