Thank you for listening to this season of The Music is Win Podcast, and I'll be back with a brand new season soon. Until then, keep shreddin'.
On this penultimate episode of the second season of The Music is Win Podcast, I had the pleasure to take a private tour with the master luthier of Gibson USA while I was at in Nashville, Tennessee for Summer NAMM this past summer. Come along on a tour of one of the most impressive factories in the world as we go through the lifespan of an iconic guitar, from a piece of wood to the finished product.
On this week's badass episode of The Music is Win Podcast, we're graced with the presence of Jen Majura, the guitarist of Evanescence as well as an accomplished solo artist in her own right. Jen's outgoing personality blended with her obvious passion for music is on display as we discuss life on the road, performing in the famous Sydney Opera House, what guitar tone is really all about, and so much more. Jen was one of my favorite people I got to meet at TGU this past summer, and you'll definitely want to check out her most recent solo effort called InZENity. Enjoy!
On this week's episode of The Music is Win Podcast, I had the pleasure to sit down with blues royalty, Boscoe France, at the Experience PRS event this summer. Boscoe is not only an extremely humble guy and extraordinary guitar player (I've found that combination a lot during my travels), he's also a master storyteller. From tales of twice-bought guitars to the reason he always plays live shows in bare feet, you'll love this awesome and authentic bluesman who's as kind as he is good at ripping the ax.If you'd rather watch The Music is Win Podcast, make sure to subscribe on YouTube.
Glenn Fricker calls 'em like he sees 'em, which is exactly the quality you look for in a good music producer. In this episode of The Music is Win Podcast, Glenn explains what he feels is essential for musicians to possess in order to excel in a studio environment. We also chat about studio war stories, the worst thing about music today, and much, much more. This is one of the rare expletive-ridden episodes you'll find of The Music is Win Podcast, but I'd have it no other way–Glenn is best received unadulterated and without restrictions. Make sure to check out Glenn's YouTube channel and sign up for his new course on producing killer progressive metal tracks. For those of you who prefer video podcasts, you can subscribe to The Music is Win Podcast on YouTube.
During the semiannual Experience PRS event in Stevensville, MD, I had the good fortune to spend some time with a truly amazing musician, Tim Pierce. Tim has a decorated career as a session guitarist, playing on records with artists like Michael Jackson, Kelly Clarkson, Phil Collins, Dave Matthews, and hundreds more. Tim was nice enough to share some of his musical wisdom and jam with me, as well as bequeath me with a very special gift.If you prefer video podcasts, you can subscribe to The Music is Win Podcast on YouTube.
In this week's episode of The Music is Win Podcast, I recap my trip to NAMM in Nashville, TN, where I visited some awesome places around the city, met new friends, and made epic videos. I also reveal the winner of the Framus Folk Legacy acoustic guitar, so be sure to check your Instagram DMs. As the main attraction, I'll also dive into John Mayer's song "New Light" and go over my approach to not only learning the music, but manipulating it as an exercise in music theory and creativity. For those of you who prefer video podcasts, you can subscribe to The Music is Win Podcast on YouTube.
Today's episode of The Music is Win Podcast features Dave Weiner, an outstanding guitar player with a passion for teaching and a hunger for improvising. Aside from being a consistent member of Steve Vai's touring band for nearly 20 years, Dave was one of the first presences in the online guitar education community of YouTube. He has his own subscription service for guitar lessons called Guitopia, and plays in a three-piece fusion band called Visible at Night. In short, Dave knows guitar, and he'll make you a better player, so listen up!
Welcome to Season 2 of The Music is Win Podcast! This new season will feature a variety of different show types, including traditional guitar hang / interviews with some amazing players, long-form guitar lessons and chats with yours truly, and Q&A's with Bethany, and much more! This podcast will serve as a communication arm from me to you, so you'll always be up to date with all things Music is Win.In the premiere of the second season, I sit down and talk shop with the awesome Martin Miller, a jack of all trades who can blow your mind in a hundred different ways. Martin talks about music theory, his approach to practice, and his brand new signature Ibanez guitar, the MM1, along with a ton of other great conversation. Enjoy, and be sure to subscribe to The Music is Win Podcast so you never miss an episode! For those of you who prefer video podcasts, you can subscribe to The Music is Win Podcast on YouTube.
To say Adam Neely is smart is actually an understatement. Tackling subjects from Infrasound to Synesthesia to Negative Harmony, and everything in between (and... beyond), Adam sees his YouTubecareer as a justification for research that most wouldn't ever do. In our wide-ranging conversation, we discuss the pros and cons of attending a school like Berklee College of Music, of which we are both alums, find the balance between practicing and being creative, and decide what music theory really means to musicians in the real world, along with so much more. Adam is an awesome friend and multi-talented composer, bassist, and musician. I hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I did.For those of you who prefer video podcasts, you can watch The Music is Win Podcast on YouTube (http://youtube.com/musiciswin).
In this episode of The Music is Win Podcast, I chat with the all-knowing gear guru Phillip McKnight. Now that my early April Fools joke has made its rounds, I can assume you've heard my treasured PRS SC245, "Baby", is safely back in my possession. It was part of Phil's latest episode of "Sharpen My Axe", a series where Phil takes a guitar from one of his lucky subscribers and tricks it out. I didn't want to take up one of these coveted positions in place of a loyal fan, so I offered to pay to have my guitar worked on, but PRS Guitars ended up sponsoring the video (thanks, Jeanne!) and Phil recommended I donate to my favorite charity instead of paying him for his effort, so I donated to an awesome organization called Guitars for Vets.  For those of you who prefer video podcasts, you can watch The Music is Win Podcast on YouTube (http://youtube.com/musiciswin).
In this special episode of The Music is Win Podcast, I talk to Periphery guitarist and Horizon Devices founder Misha Mansoor. If you're interested in turning music into a career, this podcast is required listening. Misha's unique insights as both a member of a big time band and an entrepreneur in the music industry provide clarity on just what it takes to find success in the current landscape of 2018. There are plenty of actionable tips that you can take away from our conversation, as well as advice on how to become a great guitarist while preparing for the fact that it will probably take more than just having sick skills on the instrument to forge your career. For those of you who prefer video podcasts, you can watch The Music is Win Podcast on YouTube.Go to audioblocks.com/musiciswin to to save on millions of studio-quality loops, tracks, and sound effects with a special offer on an annual AudioBlocks subscription.
