Hello BLASTers! We welcome you back to Episode 21 where we discuss the raging issue of the hour - Transgender bathroom rights! What do we do? How do we respond? But first, we want to give a big THANK YOU to Pastor Brian Lowery for donating the professional-grade radio microphone to TheBLAST! It has greatly improved our sound quality. You may have heard a great deal about the issue of trans-gender persons having "equal restroom rights" in the news or on social media lately, and you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. So we wanted to offer a brief history (which turns out to not be so brief) not so much in regards to trans-genderism, but the bathroom issue specifically. We will discuss trans-genderism a little later in the episode. It started when California Governor Jerry Brown signed the "School Bathroom Bill" into law back in August of 2013. Yes, this issue is that old. The bill allows students to compete on sports teams and use facilities like showers and bathrooms based on their gender identity, regardless of what is listed on the student's records. This is essentially where the issue started. Since that time other states have taken up similar measures.More recently Andraya Williams, a transgender student at Central Piedmont Community College in North Carolina, was detained by security officers and escorted off campus after she used the women's bathroom. The LGBTQ Law Center is demanding that the college apologize and affirm her right to use the women's bathroom, which would be consistent with her gender identity. This event spurred the Charlotte City Council to approve a "non-discrimination ordinance" (NDO) which included a provision allowing transgender residents to use either a men’s or women’s bathroom, depending on the gender with which they identify. For most people the issue came to the forefront of the news when the State of North Carolina rejected and overturned Charlotte's ordinance. As a result the state and Governor Pat McRory has come under tremendous pressure from over 90 big-name businesses including Apple, Google, Facebook and Twitter as well as mayors and governors in other states, the media at large and of course LGBTQ activists. Yet, he has not wavered as of this writing. If you hadn't heard about that, you have probably heard about this. In April international retailer Target came out with an article on their website which says, “In our stores, we demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive experience in many ways. Most relevant for the conversations currently underway, we welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.”
Segment OneHello BLASTers! Sorry for the span between episodes. We've been ultra-busy! Between Pastor Adam going to the Philippines to preach for Pastor Mel Biangco and a multi-church revival with Pastor Campbell as soon as he returned it's been quite a chore finding time to sit down behind TheBLAST microphones. In this episode we re-examine an issue that we had discussed back in Episode 14 regarding the upcoming presidential election. If you heard that episode you know that both Pastor Adam and Dave gave an endorsement to Senator Ted Cruz. In light of current events, namely Cruz dropping out of the race (as well as Gov. Kasich who also dropped out), we are essentially left with two choices: the two candidates pictured above). We felt that we owed it to you our audience to discuss what direction we go from here, being that we had given that endorsement. Do we simply now vote for Donald Trump? Do we vote for the other party as a protest vote? Do we go with a third party candidate? Do we still vote for the candidate we endorsed? Listen and find out. What do you plan to do? Who are you voting for, and why? Let us know in the comments, send us an email or voicemail, or join us on TheBLAST forum on Slack. We are treated to some Royal Tailor in the break...Segment TwoIn the second segment we discuss new show ideas that we've received, mostly from our listeners. You have given us some very good ideas and we can't wait to do episodes on each of them. A few of the ideas include dating vs. courting, whether churches should have social media accounts (and if so, which ones?), Judaism and Christianity, and our personal favorite - outreach suggestions for the non-musically talented! We love it!That's all for now. Thank you very much for your continued support. And we promise to do episodes more frequently and consistently. Until next time, God bless you and thank you for listening!
Most of you who listen to TheBLAST Podcast are Americans and can therefore vouch for the fact that, given the option, Americans tend to gravitate toward things that are bigger. Just think of the smartphone phenomenon: remember when they seemed to be getting smaller and smaller? Seems like eons ago, doesn't it? Nowadays, the bigger the screen the better! Likewise, just drive down any American highway and you'll notice a healthy mix of cars, SUV's and over-sized trucks on the road (and I don't mean big rigs). Don't get us wrong, we at TheBLAST like big phones and big trucks as much as the next guy. But has the same kind of "bigger is better" attitude trickled into the church?
Hey BLASTers! Dave here with this week's episode recap. In the first segment we had the privilege of interviewing Lincoln Sheppard of Fullerton, CA who, along with his pastor, Richard Salanoa, has created a new ministry called Men Making Amends along with its corresponding website, menmakingamends.com. The idea behind Men Making Amends, or MMA, is very simple yet profound - real change is spiritual. There are four major categories of life in which Christian men of this generation are failing: Discipleship, Family, Finances and Leadership. Lincoln and Pastor Salanoa recognized this in the men they were seeing come into the Kingdom of God. They both saw the need for a comprehensive ministry specifically targeted toward men covering the four areas just mentioned. The result was, you guessed it, MMA. As they say on their website: Men Making Amends is a men’s group designed for men of all background to make it right with their Creator by taking the first step, a total surrender of the heart. The second step will decide what happens next. It's the second step that men wrestle with most. Men Making Amends provides spiritual fighting skills to enter the spiritual octagon to fight for real victories. Starting on the campus of Cal State Fullerton the MMA ministry began meetings during which men were able to speak candidly about the issues they were facing and receive encouragement from their brethren. Lincoln gave an impassioned testimony of how it all began and the exciting developments that have taken place since. The MMA concept has spread to many other CFM churches in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas, then to Arizona and eventually Texas. The MMA website not only gives men links to great resources such as Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and Dr. James Dobson's Family Legacy, but also shows where future meetings in those areas will be held. We'd love to see this idea catch fire!During the break we hear a fantastic song from one of the best Christian Rock bands of all time (in my humble opinion) Jonah33, "Father's Song". In Part 2 we address a topic that we've spoken a little about in the last few episodes: our desire for TheBLAST to improve and become a self-supporting ministry. We had previously put the question to you our audience asking whether you'd prefer to donate to TheBLAST directly, or hear a few advertisements. Most of you said, "Give us the ads!" However, some said they'd prefer a donation. We decided to leave both options on the table and allow you to choose. You may have noticed that there are a few buttons at the top of this webpage having to do with supporting the podcast. By clicking on any of those buttons you'll have an opportunity to do just that. You may say, "But two of the three buttons take me to Amazon. What's that about?" I'm glad you asked. By shopping on Amazon via TheBLAST's webpage we actually get a small commission on the sale. So, by doing something you already do (because who doesn't like shopping on Amazon?) you'll be helping us! By clicking on the button that says "Support by Donating at Kindrid" you'll be able to make a direct donation. By the way, if you don't use Kindrid for online giving at your church, we highly recommend it. They have made it so easy, you can give via text message! We end by giving you a preview of what an upcoming ad will sound like. Please feel free to leave us a voicemail and/or leave us a review on iTunes. That's all for now, BLASTers. Until next time, Godspeed! Dave
We're back this week with another special edition of TheBLAST Podcast. This week, we dive into the worthy subject of preserving the lives of the most vulnerable among us: The Pre-Born. We're delighted to welcome Maggie Teton and Michael Maunder to the microphone to share with us a powerful movement that has been happening under our noses to one day see the evil of legal abortion eradicated in our lifetimes. The campaign is called 40 Days for Life and we want to encourage all of you to get involved.

016 – Kingdom Resources

2016-03-0801:32:33

Episode 16 is ready for you to hear! Our topic this time around is Kingdom Resources. First Segment – We kick off this sweet sixteenth episode by looking at the problem of dry-well syndrome. How do we keep ourselves from losing our spiritual inspiration? We look at 2Timothy 4:9-14 where Paul asks his disciple to bring him what must be the things he longed for the most in his prison cell: his disciple Mark, his cloak and his books, "especially the parchments". Paul longed to have the resources to nourish his languishing soul. Ever found yourself right there? I know we have. Pastor Dragoon urges us to consider the great advantages that the Christian community has with over 2000 years of scholarly study under our belt, not to mention over 5000 years of Jewish scholarship to learn from. Truly, we stand on the shoulders of giants. We have much knowledge and experience to gain from their collective study of God's Word. In the first break, we hear one of our favorite songs ever: Creed by Rich Mullins, performed live by Third Day. Second Segment – We are so delighted to welcome Pastor Kevin Foley from McMinnville, OR to TheBLAST! Pastor Foley gives us some much needed wisdom and guidance in securing great resources for the different stages of our Christian experience. Make sure to check below for a master list of all the resources mentioned in this extensive episode. Pastor Foley responds to those that might have the idea that they don't need revelation from extra-biblical resources, that the "me and my bible" Christian is robbing himself of much blessing. Our second break allows us to hear a catchy tune by Brandon Heath called, It's No Good to be Alone. Segment Three Pastor Dragoon and Dave share some of their favorite resources that they were unable to get to during the interview with Pastor Foley. Here is the big list of awesome resources mentioned in this podcast. BOOKS MENTIONED : The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel Mere Christianity by C. S. TheBLAST Podcast is back with a special episode about the importance of caring for our new believers. In segment one Pastor Dragoon and Dave welcome Cadence O'Neal, our church's most recent new believer, to TheBLAST audience. We share the absolute necessity of seeing new believers come into our church. Just like in every good family, the most important members are the youngest among us. They breathe new life into our congregations, giving us the wonderful opportunity for ministry, mentoring and discipleship. We compare the similarities of natural birth and supernatural birth, drawing inspiration from the story of the newly converted Saul on the road to Damascus from Acts 9:1-20. We are reminded about God's concern for the little ones, those that cannot defend themselves... Luke 17:2- 2 "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones." We also make a few points about the demonic strategy of "Attack Early and Often". The enemy always makes a point to come against the righteous while they are still in their weakest moments early in life. Consider his targets: Satan didn't wait to tempt humanity until many generations had come and passed. He attacked, strategized and engaged the human race very early on in our history.. Third chapter of the bible! The demonic inspired Pharaoh of Egypt issued a decree to have all male children under the age of two to be destroyed. Hell desired to kill Moses before he could ever rise up to lead God's people out of bondage and into the promised land. King Herod attempted the same thing after Christ was born: "Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men." (Matthew 2:16). Hell was attempting to snuff out the Christ-child in his infancy. The great temptation of Christ occurred early in his ministry, still in the infant stage. "When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'” (Matthew 3:16, 17 NKJV) In the first break we hear a recent release from Lincoln Brewster called "There is Power". Segment Two We have the great honor and privilege of being the first to hear Cadence's amazing testimony and how God brought him to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We hope that this faith journey inspires you. He shares with us some early spiritual battles that have been happening in his life. We also get some much needed perspective on the church and how new believers perceive those that are already here. VERY ENCOURAGING! During our second break we are very pleased to present the early release of the title track from Phil Wickham's upcoming album, "Your Love Awakens Me". I have been a big fan of his music and cannot wait for this to come out so I can hear what other treasures are contained! Segment Three We close this episode by sharing some "If I was in your shoes" advice with Cadence. These are the types of things we all need to hear early (and later on) in our salvation. Let us all be reminded of the great need for believers to develop the habits of prayer, bible study, evangelism, church attendance and fellowship. Thanks again for investing your most precious commodity into our show, your time! We invite you to leave us a voicemail, send us an email, review us on iTunes, and connect with us on Twitter or Instagram.
On this MEGABLAST edition of TheBLAST Podcast, we dive in to the world of politics.  Segment One  In the first segment, we are reminded of the Christian heritage and foundation of our society and our government. Without the first Great Awakening, there would be no American Revolution. Christians need to once again be plugged in to the world of politics so that we can still be the salt and the light for our dying culture and way of life.  During the first break we hear the classic Pillar song, Indivisible.  Segment Two  TheBLAST Podcast launches into uncharted territory by discussing the political parties, their platforms, their policies and even the presidential candidates still remaining in the race for the Whit House.  DISCLAIMER: We are not speaking on behalf of any party except our own. The Potter's House Church does not endorse any candidate or party, nor do any of its affiliated leaders or pastors. Listen carefully to see why Dave and Pastor Dragoon have officially endorsed Senator Ted Cruz for President of the United States of America!  During the second break we hear the great tune by Matthew West, Life Inside You.  Segment Three We thank you all of you who have made it this far, giving us your precious time to hear us discuss the issues. In this last segment, the topic turns toward what little hope might be left for our democratic republic: The Convention of States. We are calling everyone who has any hope for this nation to get involved by heading over to conventionofstates.org and signing the petition to call on your state legislature to get involved with an Article V Convention process. This could be our last greatest hope to see our nation reformed. We would also highly recommend Mark Levin's book on the topic: The Liberty Amendments.
Dave shares a touching real-life story of his experience with abortion. Please let this testimony impact your heart as you determine your values in life.
Welcome to Episode 13 of TheBLAST Podcast! We're grateful that you take the time to listen and participate in this journey along with us! In this lucky 13th episode, Dave and Pastor Adam discuss the issue of what we choose to feed our souls with. After sharing our latest metrics, the discussion turns to the importance of feeding our souls. As crucially important as it is what we choose to feed our bodies with, isn't it just as important or more what we choose to put into our souls? The conversation turns to some of the different areas that we feed on: Music, Movies, Books, News... Let's be sure to have great wisdom and discernment when it comes to choosing what we put into our lives. After all, what we put into our minds ultimately becomes a part of the body of Christ! Special music this week: The song that brought Pastor Adam to tears while riding to work on light rail: "Without You" by Shane and Shane.
TheBLAST Podcast is back this week with an engaging episode all about the power of discipleship. We are grateful to welcome Pastor Joshua Fowles to be part of our discussion for this episode! Dave has broken down the real-world numbers that reveal why the method that Jesus used is still the best, even in our modern world of technology, mass media and social networking. Join us to examine the true potential given to us in 2 Tim 2:2. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. This week we hear a fantastic report from missionary Pastor Daniel Din, serving in La Paz, Bolivia. Be encouraged to hear the wonderful things that are happening there.
Welcome to episode eleven of TheBlast Podcast, where we seek to inspire and challenge all Christians. Especially those in the Christian Fellowship Ministries! Today we begin with a few numbers that show the steady growth of our listenership. Thank you for your participation! We take a few minutes to respond to some feedback we received from our last show, “Episode Ten - Should Christians Arm Themselves?”. Thanks you for staying in contact with us! This episode is all about the most recent Prescott Conference, themed “Compelled to Send”. Dave and Pastor Dragoon discuss the issues that the conference covered, favorite sermons preached and the profundity of our bible conferences in general. We also hear a powerful report from Pastor Justin Manzaneres from Fresno, CA.
