In this episode we speak with Jorge Diege Etienne. Jorge Diego Etienne (Tampico, 1983) is a highly motivated Industrial Designer from Mexico with a global perspective on design. He graduated with a BS in Industrial Design from the Tec de Monterrey in 2009 and his experience includes an insternship at Feiz Design Studio in Amsterdam, workshops with top global design companies and courses at renown design schools like Central Saint Martins in London, Domus Academy in Milan, and Parsons the New School for Design in New York. In 2011 he participated in the exchange program ''Modern Design and Traditional Craftsmanship'' organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Kyoto, Japan where he researched and experimented with the intersection of cultural objects with contemporary products. Jorge Diego's work has been featured at important design exhibitions at the Museo de Arte Moderno (MAM), Museo de Arte Popular (MAP), National Art Center of Mexico (CENART), Franz Mayer Museum, Centro de las Artes CONARTE, and has exhibited his work at the Contemporary Art/Design fair Zona Maco, Mexico Design Week, Abierto Mexicano de Diseño, the Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño in Madrid and has been widely published around the world. In 2016 Jorge Diego presented ¨Círculos" at the renown Salone Satellite during the Salone Milan Furniture Fair. He is a founding member of Cooperativa Panorámica, a group of young Mexican designers exploring new design territories. Their work has been exhibited in important design events such as the Internacional Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York, Maison & Objet in Paris, Collective Design Fair in New York, and in 2015 did a resideny in Casa Wabi Oaxaca. Jorge Diego is interested in promoting design and foster new talents. He is editor of the blog Designaholic and organizes DECODE, a design festival and student exhibition in Monterrey. He teaches at CEDIM and is a visiting professor at the Tec de Monterrey Campus Guadalajara. She has worked KASK, University College Ghent (BE), exploring sustainable shoe-design. She is particularly interested and in search for sustainable ways of shoe making and new materials with low / no impact. Her work is a combination of craftmanship and state-of-the-art technology. In this episode we speak with Chris Sherwin. A trained designer with a PHD in sustainable design, Chris has been working in the sustainability field for 15 years, holding previous positions in Electrolux, Philips, Forum for the Future, and most recently Dragon Rouge where he held the position of Sustainability Consultant for the last four years. In this episode we speak with Francesca Ostuzzi. Francesca Ostuzzi received her Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design (product-oriented) in 2007 and her Master Degree in Design & Engineering in 2010, both at Politecnico di Milano. In 2010 she started collaborating with Politecnico di Milano and private companies to develope LCAs (Life Cycle Assessments) and she was lecturer both in the Design Department and the The Chemistry, Material and Chemical Engineering Department "Giulio Natta" (CMIC) in Politecnico di Milano. In 2013 she started her PhD in Politecnico di Milano and she is now conducting a Joint PhD between Politecnico di Milano and Ghent University. In this episode we speak with Saskia Westerduin. Saskia began her career as an art director and later worked as a creative director in various leading advertising agencies. In 1998, she launched "de VormNatie", a full service communication agency. In 2007 she decided to withdraw from the company and to settle as a freelance strategic design manager and designer: SW• ad (Saskia Westerduin Art Direction). Design-Thinking has always been the methodology Sakia used in innovation processes. Her work consisted in introducing innovative designtools, set-up co-creation processes and develop a well-founded communication strategy. Since 2009 Saskia is connected to KASK / School of Arts University College Ghent where she still gives some courses, including a master seminar on design and communication. In 2013, Saskia became creative director of Ministry of Makers (MoM), a platform that aims to promote and facilitate creative and innovative entrepreneurship in Ghent and East Flanders. In this episode we speak with Ben Hagenaars. Ben Hagenaars graduated as a master in productdesign at the MAD-faculty in Genk. Additionally he gained a post-graduate degree in packaging design at Sint-Lucas Gent. In 2010 he executed his master project Animation Vegetation, a project on public interaction and urban green space, in the city of Hasselt. He gained experience as a designer in studio Pure Sang in Antwerp and with design agency Tjep in Amsterdam.
