We're back with an episode of Coachspeak. It's a coaching podcast that's not usually on topic or that built around a topic, unless it is. Enjoy!
Sean and Justin preview the Big 12 for the 2018 football season picking the winner, coach of the year, player of the year, and of course- dud program. They also discuss the top storylines like Bill Snyder, Kyler Murray, and Will Grier with possible coaching changes and "muted musings" (reasons to mute your TV during games).
Justin and Sean preview the Pac-12 conference's winner, their top 3 storylines, coach of the year, and player of the year plus ramble about other things as usual. Both fellas like the Pac-12 even if Justin doesn't understand the way time zones work (and he's the one that lived in Oregon...). They answer Twitter questions from two weirdos who tweeted in as well.
Justin and Sean preview the Group of 5 winners (and Navy) plus the top independents like Notre Dame, Army West Point, and BYU. Some tangent topics like spirit mascot, a pre-pre-preview of the 2019 coaching carousel (psssst, Coach Ken may wind up at BYU) and other odds and ends. Lead in song is "Stadium Pow Wow" by Tribe Called Red f/ Black Bear
Justin and Sean discuss how they would fix two bottom feeder college football programs in the Kansas Jayhawks and Oregon State Beavers. From recruiting, to social media, and even scheme- the guys discuss starting from the bottom and getting them to now we're here.
Justin and Sean discuss their criteria for a great head football coach, and who their top 5 head football coaches are in 2018. FBI profilers and IMFB podcasters use the method of: How + Why = Who. How they're successful and why they coach should lead to which coaches make this list. From Nick Saban to conversations about Kevin Sumlin- this podcast is 50 minutes of rants about culture, recruiting, and google searches.
Justin and Sean talk about their favorite football coach Mike Leach. Leach, the Washington State Cougars head football coach, is a founding father of the Air Raid offense and author of "Swing Your Sword," an autobiographical account of his career prior to WSU. From a cameo on Friday Night Lights to zany quotes and the possibility he'll be job hunting again- the Ironman Football crew covers it all.
Joe Daniel is a legend of the internet and you can find him on Twitter: @footballinfo, on the net: http://joedanielfootball.com/ and on YouTube under some random dude's channel that stole his videos. We discuss wrasslin, head coaching, assistant coaching, a love-hate of football and other stuff. You can find that podcast he mentions about defense here: https://joedanielfootball.com/80/
I hope everyone is ready for another Coachspeak episode, again sponsored by Health IQ. Episode 33 is called "NFL Combine and Draft Convo" and covers well... the NFL Combine and Draft. Justin covered both topics for Saturday Blitz and the NFL Combine for Film Don't Lie. He's here today to discuss what the drills mean, how they're functional and practical to football itself, and what to look for in an NFL player. Also the headaches of making a mock draft and why head football coaches need to communicate a shit ton in order to keep assistant coaches engaged. https://saturdayblitz.com/2018/03/03/nfl-draft-combine-2018-what-each-drill-means/ 2018 NFL Combine: https://saturdayblitz.com/2018/03/06/college-footballs-5th-quarter-the-2018-nfl-combine/ 2018 NFL Draft: https://saturdayblitz.com/2018/03/11/2018-nfl-mock-draft-complete-first-round-after-the-nfl-combine/

Sponsored by Health IQ. I don't believe that football is unsafe. I think some people practice, play, educate, promote and teach unsafe football. We're in fear of losing our game but are we doing what we can to save it? Here is a look at the education, training, practice plans, game situations, equipment, and mentality that can make football safer and save the sport. Don't cancel youth football, improve it.
