Christina from the AvonleaCast Podcast returns to the show to discuss this tragic and shocking 2 parter! We discuss so many things so and I hope you enjoy this discussion! “Charles and Albert travel with the Cooper family while on a delivery. A serious accident occurs while the Coopers are going down a steep hill. The Cooper parents are killed. Charles tries to find Cassandra and James a new home. When he can’t find anyone to take them both in, he feels he has to send them to an orphanage. After thinking about this idea some more, Charles decides to take care of the kids himself for a short period. Reverend Alden eventually finds someone to take in the kids. However, this family just wants them to work. When Cassandra and James run away, their adoptive father doesn’t even go to look for them. When Charles finds the kids, he tells them that he will adopt them if they could stand the house being more crowded. They happily agree to stay with the Ingalls.” The Lost Ones Parts 1 and 2 originally aired on May 4 and May 11, 1981   The opening song “Albert” is written and performed by the amazing Norwegian band, Project Brundlefly and is used with permission. Sylvia: Parts 1 and 2

Sylvia: Parts 1 and 2

2023-10-0502:30:31

Kelly Mielke from the Dr. QuinnCast Podcast joins me to review this painful and unforgettable episode.  I think we did an incredible job covering and deconstrucing this two-parter!   Part I “New student Sylvia Webb, who has physically matured faster than most of her classmates, piques the physical curiosity of some of her male classmates. Albert goes along at first, but quickly becomes friends with Sylvia. However, he is unaware that she is trapped in a horrifying world: She’s being stalked (and is eventually attacked by) a masked rapist; her father has a cold, uncaring attitude toward Sylvia’s ordeal; and her cruel classmates continue to taunt her. Eventually, Sylvia collapses at school from exhaustion.” Part II “Mrs. Olson spreads word that Albert had gotten Sylvia pregnant. Caroline knows this isn’t true and confronts her nemesis over this misinformation. Mr. Webb decides that, because of the shame his daughter’s ordeal brought him, they will move from Walnut Grove. Sylvia decides she’d be happier with Albert, and the two decide to get married. When Mr. Webb finds out Albert had visited her (despite a no-guests rule), he calls Sylvia a whore, and she runs away. Albert – who had gotten a job as at the blacksmith’s shop – later helps search for Sylvia, but lets it slip as to her whereabouts to the blacksmith. It all leads to one final confrontation.”   Sylvia originally aired on February 9th and 16th, 1981 The opening song “Albert” is written and performed by the amazing Norwegian band, Project Brundlefly and is used with permission.
