It’s said that Beethoven’s death was like a biblical scene — he shook his fist at the heavens and a clap of thunder roared across Vienna as he left this world. His contemporary, Mahler, would become obsessed with his death because of another strange coincidence surrounding it: he died composing his tenth symphony, making Beethoven one of a long line of composers to die after completing their ninth symphony. Mahler would call this the curse of the ninth. Is there some strange supernatural power that limits earthly musicians to nine symphonies like a cat has nine lives? Or have these composers made a deal with the devil? Time for Rory and Kit to put on their powdered wigs and investigate!Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. In 1994, game designed Steve Jackson released a card game titled "Illuminati: New World Order", a game where players would role play as puppet-master organizations fighting for world domination. Sounds fun, right? Well things took a paranormal turn when years later, players realised that those cards from the 90's were giving away information on actual real life events… from the future.Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. In 1966 a Canadian tourist visiting London, Reverend Ralph Hardy, took a photo that would become notorious as one of the greatest pieces of paranormal evidence ever captured. Despite consulting photographic experts and even Kodak themselves, it has never been proven to be a hoax. On this episode of This Paranormal Life, Kit and Rory investigate the site of this event: the Tulip staircase within the Queen's House in London, try to understand whether the events of 1966 were really paranormal, and even attempt to recreate Ralph Hardy's fateful photograph! Our on-location vlog from the Queen's HouseFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip ShackladyResearch by Ewen Friers Hosted on Acast. In 1966, the small town of Wanaque, New Jersey was visited by a strange light in the night sky. Locals watched in awe as it zipped around at impossible speeds and even shot a LIGHT BEAM down towards the icy ground. Witnesses were told it was simply a helicopter, but that explanation was hard to agree with when only 9 months later... it appeared againFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. As paranormal investigators, we DREAM of the day that we finally make contact with extraterrestrials... but what if that day has already come? In 1966, banana farmer named George Pedley saw something truly bananas. A UFO emerged from underneath the water of a lagoon and disappeared into the sky above him. The encounter only lasted a brief moment but this strange craft had left something behind - the first ever 'crop circle'.Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comResearch by Ewen FriersEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. By the 1970's, the once beautiful 'Stanley Hotel' looked like it was headed towards total demolition... That was, until one fateful night when the hotel received an unusual guest - Stephen King. King and his wife were the final two guests of the season and after what they experienced that night... it was no surprise. This was the hotel that would go on to inspire King's next book, THE SHININGFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. In the world of the paranormal, cryptids are terrifying enough as they are. Sasquatch. Chupacabra. The Squonk. There are more than enough scary beasts roaming the earth to keep paranormal investigators up at night. Unfortunately for them, though, there are certain creatures to be even more fearful of… enter the Batsquatch. Deep in the Pacific North West, an area already famous for Sasquatch encounters, lives a Bat/Bigfoot hybrid beast. Fused together in the molten core of the earth inside Mount Saint Helens, it burst forth in the 1980s to stalk the population of Oregon and Washington. Time for Rory and Kit to track it down and investigate.Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip ShackladyResearch by Ewen Friers Hosted on Acast. When we think of haunted castles, we think of Transylvania, Ireland and pretty much anywhere but America... but tucked away in the small state of Rhode Island is Belcourt Castle, a huge mansion erected in 1891 and stuffed full of ancient artifacts with paranormal baggage. In 2017 global history was made when two, apparently pre-pubescent (judging by their voices), 25 year old investigators known as Kit and Rory deemed the Loch Ness Monster to be a real paranormal cryptid, giving it a double yes in their investigation. But there was a problem - how could Nessie be the only sea serpent in the British Isles when Kit and Rory grew up only around 200 miles away (as the crow flies) from Loch Ness? There are countless lakes, some larger and deeper than Loch Ness, dotted around Britain and Ireland. Well it turns out that Ireland has more than its fair share of aquatic legends. Perhaps the most famous of all is Muckie, a beast incredibly similar to Nessie and has been spotted on and off for decades in Killarney National Park. To find it will require tenacity, grit, and a not insubstantial amount of dynamite. Time for Rory and Kit to investigate.Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip ShackladyResearch by Ewen Friers Hosted on Acast. On March 16, 1967, a strange object was seen hovering above an Air Force Base in Montana. 60 seconds later, an entire fleet of nuclear missiles were knocked offline. What happened next was rollercoaster of secret investigations, government shutdowns and classified reports. But this incident wouldn't stay secret for long... after all, this wasn't the first time an object had appeared at Malmstrom Air Force Base...Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. Imagine you could see anything on earth from the comfort of your sofa, what would you look at? Fair enough in our modern world of Ring doorbells and drones this is slightly less strange, but for most of human history this was a God-like ability up there with transforming water into wine and remaining calm in traffic jams. Crucially during the cold war the US government began to take this paranormal ability, known as Remote Viewing, very seriously indeed. With shady secrets, military bunkers, and piles of redacted dossiers, this is some of the most fascinating history in the paranormal world. Imagine one of your loved ones disappeared into thin air. Not like they jumped state but they literally physically ceased to exist. What would you do? This is exactly what happened to the family of David Lang in Sumner county in the 1800s. In 1963, two retired air traffic controllers were exploring a Louisiana swamp called 'Honey Island'. Despite sounding like somewhere Winnie the Pooh would live, the swamp is actually home to an array of deadly and dangerous wildlife... NONE more dangerous than the Honey Island Swamp Monster - an ancient BEAST unknown to science that's lived in the swamp for hundreds of years (or it might just be an escaped monkey convict)Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. Around this time of year in 1855 residents of a sleepy town in Devon woke to a strange and disturbing phenomenon - completely unrecognisable footprints were covering the town. Only they weren't just on the ground, but in impossible locations: on top of houses, over giant walls, and most alarmingly of all these tracks covered over 100 miles. With no satisfying explanation from the animal kingdom they were left no choice but to accept the truth - Satan himself had visited during the night. It might sound farfetched but it wasn't the first time the dark lord holidayed in their town...Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip ShackladyResearch by Ewen Friers Hosted on Acast. Art has always documented human history. From 10,000 year old cave paintings to, I don't know - Banksy, visual art has depicted the world around us and its major events. In some ways it's evidence of these events, so what if it could also be evidence of the paranormal? In famous paintings from around the world there are hidden references to paranormal experiences, particularly aliens and UFOs. On this episode we peek behind the velvet rope of the Louvre after dark and shine a light on the most amazing depictions of UFOs in art history!Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip ShackladyResearch by Ewen Friers Hosted on Acast. As someone who spent many of their teenage years browsing the weird and wonderful pages of Ebay, I've seen a lot of bizzare objects for sale... but NEVER have I seen an object so dangerous and cursed that it comes with an official legal warning, explaining to potential buyers that if you end up winning this painting you may get more than you bargained for...Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. You’ve seen it in countless cartoons and movies over the years - a cowboy or other thirsty character carrying two rods through he desert, the sticks seemingly magically have a mind of their own and point in the direction of water. They’re called dowsing rods and go back potentially thousands of years into history. But how do they work? And if they locate water, why do paranormal investigators around the world keep them in their toolkit at all times? It turns out these unassuming sticks harbour a deep paranormal secret. The small town of Newmill is known for a lot of things, but after a freak paranormal incident in September 1977, it was only known for ONE thing - a strange floating orb seen by dozens of witnesses in the night sky. The orb was seemingly harmless, floating along the ground and through the treelines. However, days after it's appearance when the locals started falling ill, they realised that maybe this orb wasn't so harmless after all... Us redskin ns call that a Wendigp 😂 deer + man's corpse. There's two types of wendigo depending on what tribe you speak to. Up north, it's a spirit and can live inside you and take everything good from your life. The second is a monster that eats people and looks like a great ant mangled deer

I mean… we did totally screw over and in some cases completely decimate the native population, and then we RUINED the land, so I wouldn’t be surprised that something is taking revenge.

Does anyone know which episode the (first?) clip is from. About an Irishman tricking the devil to climb a tree. "get in me pocket!" had me cracking up and I want to go back and listen to it again.

I used to have a picture of BEK at Myrtles plantation in Louisiana. CREEPIEST picture I have ever seen. They were looking out at us from a window of the house, nose up was the only part visible. Black ovals where their eyes were supposed to be. My mom deleted the picture. BUT the murdered children were reported to haunt the room we captured them in.

Love listening about the paranormal, but most other podcasts take it too seriously. These guys take an interesting and normally dark topic and make it more light hearted and fun to listen to. I work in an old and creepy hotel at night and listening to this podcast keeps me entertained
