https://www.mews.com/blog/all-you-need-to-know-about-hotel-door-locksLocks and keys are undergoing a rare historic shift from mechanical to electronic, after having evolved little for millennia. The foundations for the current change were laid in 1975 when Tor Sornes patented the first electronic keycard lock and opened a new market for programmable locks and the potential for a range of authentication methods. Half a century later, it seems we are only now starting to glimpse the potential for electronic lock technology.
https://www.mews.com/blog/future-hotel-housekeepingFrictionless internal communication is what creates the “magic” guests feel when entering a well-run hotel. But there are some departments that have an intrinsically high level of miscommunication and misunderstanding that, if not corrected, can lead to open rivalry and blame games between employees whenever things hit the proverbial fan. The traditionally turbulent relationship between the front office and housekeeping department is too often the headline act and, as with any sibling rivalry, is based entirely on the quality of communication between the two.
We recap what went to down at HITEC 2019 in Minneapolis. The event is billed as America’s premiere hospitality tech event but it was disappointingly low on the tech. It looks like American hoteliers are starting to lag behind their European counterparts and we spoke to our very own team of Lucy Eason (Sales Director - North America) , Greg Naidoo (CCO) and Adam Britton (Product Manager) who were pacing the corridors thirsty for inspiration….
Hello and welcome to another episode of the Mewscast, where we discuss what’s hot and what’s not in hospitality tech along with some of the sharpest minds across the industry and beyond. On this episode - what is the future of payments in the hospitality space? Fintech is the buzzword on everyone’s lips and it's making a dent in all sorts of industries so it was always unlikely that hoteliers would be spared. Transformative changes are already upon us but who is really benefitting? From the guest experience, to productivity savings to fraud and cyber security, is there even any need for a change? We talked to recently crowned payments unicorn Stripe, super hot Swedish POS startup iZettle, the socially conscious Good Hotel and others to get to the bottom of it all.
