For this edition I'm joined by the founders of #BossBabesATX, Jane Hervey and Leslie Lozano. This interview is one of my favorites to date as we dive into all the amazing things these two are doing to help women and girls in Austin through education, resources, and leadership to fight for gender equality in our community. In this full-length version of the interview Leslie and Jane answer some rapid-fire questions and provide much more detail on how the organization got started and what it has become. We also chat about how growing up in the Rio Grande Valley and then moving to Austin helped them understand the need for change and helped provide them with the experiences necessary to lead this effort.

For this edition of Austinite Spotlight I'm joined by Austin-based singer/songwriter, Jo James. In my opinion Jo represents and embodies what I consider a true "Austin musician". He plays the guitar like it's an extension of his body (and it actually feels like that - he never put his guitar down the entire interview), he writes great blues-y lyrics, and he works his tail off to get his name out there. On top of all of that, he is refreshingly humble and has a great story behind his music. In addition to learning about Jo's story, he performs two tracks live in-studio that I play before and after the interview. I hope you all enjoy getting to know Jo James as much as I did!
This week I'm joined by Austin burlesque entertainer and pole performer, Zoja. We chat about how Zoja found a passion for pole performing and dive into all the hard work and preparation that goes on behind the scenes of burlesque entertainment. I also provide you all with my list of the best shows and events going on this week in Austin including Mother Falcon performing at Spider House and a live lucha libre wrestling event called Taco Libre.

I also provide you all with a preview of the single and as you will quickly learn Sydney is incredibly talented and hilarious as well. I'm excited for you all to learn much more about how Sydney approaches music and get to know much more about her as a person.

As you will hear from the interview, Stephanie and Logan explode with energy and made this one of my favorite interviews to date. We dive into the hilarious story around how the band was named "Voodoo Boogaloo" from a childhood pet bobcat (yes - bobcat) and they really open up the curtain behind the scenes of the band. I hope you all enjoy getting to know them as much as I did.
In my first episode back in Austin I'm joined by the incredibly talented local trip-hop duo, Voodoo Boogaloo. Logan and Stephanie are two of the nicest people I've met and it easy to see how hilarious they are from our discussion around how the band was named "Voodoo Boogaloo" from a childhood pet bobcat (yes - bobcat). I also dive into my picks of the best shows and events in Austin including Tony Bennett at ACL Moody Theater and The Austin Food and Wine Festival.

Along with the EP release, Andy will also be performing at his EP release party at Antone's this Saturday night at 9pm with a few other great local artists. We also discuss how Andy got his start in music and how his passion for music brought him from Chicago to Austin in the 90's. Andy's story is a great example of what makes the Austin music scene so great. Enjoy!
