Description

Welcome to The Juggle is Real! I'm Maxine from Digital Bon Bons and I am thrilled to have you listening. I started this podcast because in 2014 I became a parent and in 2016 I became a business owner and now I juggle the two and everything that involves. What started as a section on my monthly newsletters has now inspired me to have my own podcast sharing my business learnings, talking to amazing guests about topics that affect us as parents and business owners, providing you with some digital tips and no doubt a film related reference or two. If you're a business owner and parent this podcast was made with you in mind, so pull up a chair, get your favourite brew ready and let's get chatting.

Hello! Hooray - after months of planning I have done it, I have launched my Podcast. This episode is very much an introduction just covering why I've started it, what I will be focusing on and basically why you should tune in and listen (yes please). So, make a cuppa, sit back and let's get the ball rolling shall we?
And we're rolling. I'm back with Episode 2 and this is a great episode as I get to chat to my lovely friend Louise, who I met in my corporate role. We both fell pregnant at the same time, seen each other through babies, mat leave, going back to work and then launching businesses. We reflect a lot on our journeys in this episode so if you're thinking about leaving your corporate role and want to hear what two other people have been through - give us a listen. PLUS I have my youngest Podcast guest, Louise's daughter Margot.
This is a real goody because I know I struggle with this a lot. In this episode I am talking to the lovely Nicky Raby all about the power of saying no, whether that's in business or in parenting. No can seem like such a negative word but actually it can be really empowering and let's be honest sometimes it's just needed. Hope you enjoy.
My first solo episode (yikes). The topic for this episode is really fitting for this week actually as I've been talking to a lot of people about anxiety, confidence and self doubt. In this episode I talk about my business journey and how it took me 10 years to get to this place, of feeling confident enough to take this leap. I know how HUGE it is to get to a place of making big changes in your life whether it's personal or professional, and it can be a real rocky road. I finish the episode with 5 tips from what I've learnt since starting the business too. I hope it helps if you are suffering self doubt about your ideas or dreams or maybe resonates if you've been through this yourselves. Enjoy!
I returned back to work after mat leave to my corporate role and I loved it. I was lucky that I could return in a way that I wanted and in this episode I am chatting to Charlotte about returning to work and how that affected us both. Charlotte has recently launched her own business called Winging It Mama and she helps women making that return after Mat Leave, helping with confidence, the adjustment and more - the need for this that she has recognised is so important and I wish I had that outside support when I was going back to help the adjustment better and my company understand the return better. If you're heading back hopefully this episode will really help.
We all want it don't we? That elusive "Work/Life Balance". But how do we get it? What does it actually mean? In this episode I am chatting to the brilliant Steve Folland from Being Freelance about how we both see the Work/Life Balance, what we think of it and whether we have it or not. This is a great episode whether you are a business owner or still in the corporate world because we all want to feel happy in both areas of our lives and feel that we have that balance just right.
I am sooooo guilty of this! I have realised it more since becoming my own boss how much pressure I put on myself - all day, everyday. I've been working on this a lot recently so I thought what better way to talk about it then with you. Are you guilty of this? I hope this episode sheds some light on how I do this and what I'm doing to stop it happening. Enjoy!
Social Media can be a very demanding beast. Don't get me wrong it is super fun too and enables you to connect and make relationships with people in business and personally. In this Episode (which was recorded all the way back in April) I chat to a friend I have made by Social Media, the lovely Amy from Social Butterflies. Amy had decided to take a step back from Social Media in April and I wanted to talk to her about that and why she decided to take some time out and why Social Media sometimes makes us do this.
I am so excited about this episode because this is a subject I have been working on for myself a lot lately and I am thrilled that I get to talk to the lovely Anya from Mothers.Wellness.Toolkit about it. We cover so many topics around this in our chat from how long postpartum really lasts, why looking after yourself first means you are better for others and how to not let things grind you down. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did.
In this episode I am chatting to the lovely Danielle who runs MilknFizz. It launched this year and she organise events in St Albans for mums to get together and have a glass of fizz (or two!). We've spoke various times about guilt and how bad you can feel when you're working and trying to juggle family like etc so we wanted to talk about that openly in this episode. We hope you enjoy it.
On Friday 5th October I celebrated my first full year of being self-employed. It was an emotional day because I reflected on everything I had been through on this journey and it's been a true rollercoaster. This is quite a personal episode for me, looking back over this last year and what I've learnt. I've discovered new things about myself, ways I want to change for the better going forward and how I really need to learn once and for all to be a lot kinder to myself. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you want to share your experiences and learnings with me please drop me an email or pop me a DM on Instagram.
Oooooh Mindset ay? That's always a good one. I have to say in this second year in business I have learnt more about my mindset than ever before. I have personally seen how my mindset can have a direct affect on my business and also seep into my family life too. In this episode I am chatting to business coach, Cori Javid about this very topic and how it is definitely more than a nice to have. It's the foundation of it all! I hope you enjoy the episode. Don't forget to let me know what you think and if you love this episode, I would love a little review on the podcast please? - I don't ask for this enough - see mindset!
In this final episode of Series 1 of The Juggle is Real I am talking to Danni McCabe who created and runs the Mama Tribe, an online directory for mama run businesses. Danni is a real inspiration because she has been a business owner before and due to an unfortunate situation everything changed in just one evening. She saw her beloved business get destroyed. But Danni picked herself up and saw an opportunity instead and she is sharing her story with me in this episode. So if you've had a business before and you're wondering if you can start all over again, you totally can! Enjoy the episode.
Lisa is photographer based in Warwickshire and she works with families capturing their whole experience from bump to growing up, she's also recently started doing branding photography with some wonderful women in business. Lisa has two boys, so knows the juggle. In this episode she is sharing her tips and experience of running a business and staying sane in the process. Tips from planning to self advice, Lisa shares how she does it while raising her own family. We hope you enjoy the episode.
Hello and a very warm welcome back for series two of the podcast. I am so excited to be back and can't wait to share more episodes with you about the juggle and hear from brilliant fellow parent business owners. In this episode I'm reflecting on my first year of being self employed and how I'm embracing a word of the year. A new concept for me and I'm excited to talk about. I hope you enjoy the episode.
I am thrilled to be talking to Emily from the brilliant blog Mama Need a Mimosa because I think her story is so great. Emily is passionate about food, community and in this episode she shares her story of creating and building a business while on Maternity Leave. I know so many of us have those lightbulb moments while on Mat Leave so listening to someone who did just that can be super helpful. I hope you enjoy the episode.
In this episode I am talking to a very good friend of mine, Susie from Wiki Places for Kids. This is a great episode because Susie is shedding the light on not only being a parent running a business but running a business that is also focused on parents and helping them keep their kids entertained with places to go. Susie is a bundle of fun and energy and she shares a lot about her experiences, how she feels since baby no 3 came into her world and how sometimes you just need to pull up those big girl pants and go for it. We hope you enjoy the episode.
Last year Ingrid suffered a huge loss, the passing of her mum. She was in the middle of getting everything organised for her business venture, the juggling of her young boys and suddenly she was immersed into unimaginable grief. Ingrid and her family then spent several months back in her home of Australia processing the loss that had happened. In this episode Ingrid and I talk about grief and how you deal with these huge emotions. We talk about how when you work for yourself, try and pull everything back together it can feel isolating but if you have support, even from friendly strangers on the internet that you might have only messaged once or twice - it really does mean the world. We hope you enjoy the episode.
How do you tune into your inner voice? How do you find what you want to say or do above the noise happening around you? In this episode I speak to the lovely Anita Ryan, Singer and blogger from First Time Mum at 40, about exactly that - our inner voice. Anita has been on journey in the last few years becoming a mum and continuing a career that she loves. As parents we can often feel like we've lost our identity and struggle to find our way back to that or even connect with who we are now and Anita has great tips to share on how you can make time to reconnect to yourself and your voice in order to share it with the world. We hope you enjoy the episode.
