Summary: Welcome back to Yay...I Started a Podcast. This week’s guest is Donald Kelly of The Sales Evangelist podcast. On this episode Donald tells his story of how Jared Easley of the Starve the Doubts podcast inspired Donald to start a podcast and how he decided to start a podcast about his occupation (sales) as a way to scratch his own itch and learn more about selling best practices. Early on Donald was working full-time, was recently married, and was podcasting, so after trying his hand at handling all parts of recording, editing, and show notes, Donald decided to outsource much of his workload to help him focus his time on interviewing. Donald also realized that within the first year, he was trying to hard to mimic those podcasters that came before him but it was impacting his ability to be his true self. By trying to plug in all the “perfect” solutions, he realized that he was feeling overwhelmed and nearly quit. Before long, the podcast led to some sales coaching jobs, and speaking opportunities, which caught Donald off guard, but ultimately it led to his opportunity to start podcasting full-time after two years of podcasting. Donald advises all podcasters to build and leverage their network to not only grow their podcast audience, but also to help with getting A-list guests. Ultimately Donald and Jay agree that in order to get guests on your podcast. Donald’s Favorite Podcasts Trailblzers.FM Business Wars My Biz From Home Ultimately Donald wants to inspire his listeners to take one thing from each episode that can help change how they sell for the better.
