We've had some crazy stuff going on in our lives, but that won't stop us from bringing you the 2-star content you know and love(?)! This episode is full of ghosts, and men, and honestly we don't know which is scarier? In honor of Women's History Month, Sarah starts us out with not one, but two stories about ghost women. Though they may be spirits, even in life and death we have to say 'good for her'. Stephanie finishes off the episode with a story where no one dies! But a white man is on his bullshit, and does con multiple people out of more money than anyone would have guessed. Who is Zach Horwitz and who is Zach Avery, and why have we never seen them in the same room at the same time?? On a separate note, we seem to be catching these weird noises (or transmissions?) in our audio. We can't quite make out what it is... if you can understand it, please let us know! And we're still looking for Kristina and we're starting to get a little worried. So if you hear from her, or have any idea where she got of to, hit us up!
Have you ever been to a Waffle House? Do you want me to describe it to you? But seriously, you know we love our Waffle House here at Deadtime Storiez, and we might love it even more if we got the type of tip that Tonda Dickerson received in the early 2000's. Tonda Dickerson was waitressing one day when a patron tipped her a lottery ticket. That ticket was about to change her life forever...and not necessarily in a good way. Stephanie wraps up our episode with the incredibly unsettling story of the Manila Film Center. An entire, huge, film center built in only THREE days....what could go wrong?? Well...the massive amount of ghosts that remain might be able to tell you. We thank you so much for being patient with us as we figure out where the world of Deadtime Storiez is heading next. We also need to figure out where Kristina is???
We're back babiez!!! And we're still getting our sealegs here, so please forgive any weird audio quality. (we're also getting some weird interference at the end of episodes now, but I don't think it's anything to worry about) Sarah starts us off with a good ol' fashioned ghost story from Overton Missouri. Legend says, if you see a Black Carriage while driving in Overton it's a bad sign. How did the Black Carriage come to be? Well you will have to listen to find out. Stephanie wraps up with some updates to previous stories! And by previous we mean within the first 100 episodes!! She's got updates to both the Boy in the Box and the Somerton Man. We're so excited to be back on the air again! We can't thank you all enough for your continued support. We'll be back in a couple of weeks, and, in the meantime....if you hear anything from Kristina please tell her to contact us
We're back-back-back AGAIN! As you all know we took a little hiatus, and had to recover from some major inter-world jet-lag, but we promised we would be back in January and Here. We. Are. We have some newz, some updatez, and most importantly - our next episode release date! We'll be coming to your ears with a brand new, full length episode on Sunday, February 12. In the meantime, don't be a stranger and reach out to us! We'd love to hear your thoughts on where Deadtime Storiez will be heading in the future. And if anyone has heard from Kristina, please tell us, we would like to speak with you.
Will Sarah and Stephanie ever return home? Or will they be stuck in this other dimension forever?? There's only one way to find out! Tune in to the final installment of Guestoberfest V.5 to have all your questions answered .... maybe. We'd like to give a Huge THANK YOU to all of our Guests this month: Kay the old Crone - TNutt Dusty Coffers, Tyrone, and others - Josh Hawkins The Fierce Queen and Candace the Broad - The Zany Thing and Kristina as ...Kristina (also, we haven't seen her lately, if anyone has any idea where she is - tell her to call us) HAPPY HALLOWEEN YA FILTHY ANIMALS Deadtime Storiez will return with new episodes in January of 2023.
EVERYTHING IS FINE ...... Totally Fine.... Sarah and Stephanie are still on their COMPLETELY PLANNED quest, and I'm still doing a great job holding down the fort. Looks like this week they have to find a special Mask? That will apparently look good on any wall it's placed on? ((between us, I'm beginning to think they were sent on a quest to furnish someone's home...but that's just my *Kristina* humble opinion)) They have to find a mask that's held by a Fierce Queen, and participate in a Bathroom Ball to win it. Do they win the mask? Are they one-quest closer to coming home??* *I hope not, cause I think I'm getting the hang of this thing... might start releasing my own episodes soon.......
So.............I suppose Stephanie and Sarah are still stuck in the upside-down....the oopsie-daisy.....the whoopsie-poopsie...the....WHATEVER!! Either way they're still not here - and I'm (Kristina) still holding down the fort. **successfully if they ask** Looks like Sarah and Stephanie are out on Quest #2, where they have to find and subdue a monster...? Sounds dangerous, and terrifying, and...like I'm really glad to NOT be there. Stay tuned to hear if they conquer this quest and are any closer to coming home. And..I mean...If they don't come home, ya know..we'll make it work. Right? ....Right?!
Ummmmmmmmm........ Well, this certainly wasn't expected. Sarah and Stephanie seem to have found themselves sucked into another dimension (?), another world (?), just an overall topsy-turvy upside-down space. According to the Old Crone they met, this new land is called "Killadelphia" and they are going to have to complete some tasks before they can find their way home. In the meantime, I'll be here (Kristina of course) to make sure that all of their content is uploaded. But don't worry everyone, this is all completely normal. Completely fine. It's fine. Everything is fine. ....tune in next week to find out what other Quests they have to complete!
ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL GUESTOBERFEST '22!!!! Who's ready?? Cause we sure are!! In the meantime, please enjoy another one of our favorite episodes of Guestoberfest-past: This month is Guestober! For the spookiest month of the year, we’re celebrating by bringing guests on for every episode of October. Our second guest is a close friend and fan of the show. Teresa Nutter is an incredible comedian, improv artist, and actress in Philadelphia. She tells us her own personal encounters with the other side while we also celebrate Stephanie’s birthday! Learn about Gritty, hear our last scheduled promo with Southern Spirits Podcast, and an especially fun Fetish Five.
We're back with another REWIND!! Which means we are officially one week closer to GUESTOBERFEST **airhorn** We continue our rewind countdown with an episode we both consider to be one of our scariest. Originally airing in 2018 and titled "Take Care of Yourselves, and Each Other", this episode was the only time we felt the need to cleanse the space with sage both before and after recording. ....take that as you will (we take it as scary) Please sit back, relax, and enjoy this revisit of a Guestoberfest past!! ---This week’s guest asked to remain anonymous. For the purpose of our show, he’s going by Aaron. Since the age of five, Aaron began to notice a dark presence in his parents’ bedroom at night. After his father’s death, he believes he has inherited what he calls his “attachment.” The greatest terror is not what it has done to Aaron directly, but to his loved ones.
The countdown to Guestoberfest BEGINS!!!! T-Minus 3 weeks until the first episode drops and we can't freakin' wait! To help get us in the spooky mood we'll be revisiting our favorite episodes of Guestoberfest past. And what better way to start than with the very first episode of Guestoberfest ever?? Take a trip back to 2018 with our good friend, and Guest, Josh Hitchens!! ***insert time travel noise here*** We're declaring this month: Guestober! For the spookiest month of the year, we wanted to celebrate by bringing guests on for every episode of October. Our first one is a real scream. Josh Hitchens is an esteemed Philadelphia director, actor, and playwright. His works do often lean towards the macabre and eerie, but they are also heartfelt and enriching. He brings us three excerpts from his one man show: GHOST STORIES. Sarah and Stephanie saw it over the summer and have been clamoring to have Josh on as a guest ever since. After listening to his haunted tales, you'll understand why! For more on Josh, you can visit his website at: joshhitchens.weebly.com **Josh just released his latest book: Haunted History of Philadelphia. You can order your copy here: https://www.amazon.com/Haunted-History-Philadelphia-America/dp/1467151580
You read the title right - this weeks story is about the abduction of Elizabeth Smart. But, before we get to her story we have the story of another girl. A girl named Anne who loved her home so much she never wanted to part with it, even in death. The Burton Agnes Hall in Yorkshire England was built by Annes father, and when Anne passed away her final request was to have her head be buried in the home. Well, since that was a little weird, her family didn't do that and instead buried her fully intact in the church graveyard. But Anne wouldn't let her wishes go unfulfilled. In fact, she would scream her head off until they eventually moved her head back into the house. Don't worry though - that's not the end of the story. Tune in to hear Sarah tell the rest of the saga of the "Screaming Skull of Burton Agnes Hall" And to finish the episode Stephanie is bringing us the 1990's true crime abduction case of Elizabeth Smart. Elizabeth was taken from her bed in the middle of the night at knifepoint, and the only witness was her sister lying in the bed next to her. It seemed like Elizabeth would never make it back home - but she does. And how she does is one hell of a story.
We're officially one month away from our favorite time of year --- GUESTOBERFEST!!! We've got some big plans and guests lined up for this year, and we can't wait to bring it all to you! But in the meantime.... Stephanie starts us out with the unsolved mystery (murder?) of Jimmy Hoffa. Hoffa served as the President of a major labor union and made great strides for the working-person in America. That is..until he got roped in with some bad eggs. He was last seen in July 1975, and even though he was legally declared dead in 1982, no one really knows what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. Sarah takes us a little further back in history to 1184, to tell us all about the Erfurt Latrine Disaster. *used to be shithouse* When the floor gave way during a meeting called by Henry VI, 60+ people found themselves swimming in shit. Or, drowning in it rather. Because the floor that collapsed fell directly into the sewage cistern. What followed become known as one of the most unsettling, morbid, and strangely comic events of history. And what makes it even more strange is the theory that the entire event was setup..by the King..to kill his enemies/competition. Talk about one way to empty a load....
We've reached the finale of the Linda Hazzard and Starvation Heights' story. It's only fitting that for this episode, Linda was dead to begin with - because this final installment isn't about Linda, but rather the poor ghosts left behind still processing their trauma. And to continue with the ghost trend, Sarah has one more haunted tale. The S.S. Kamloops sunk to the bottom of Lake Superior in 1927 and remains there, intact, to this day. The Kamloops also holds the remains of a rather friendly underwater ghost named "Grandpa". If you have the diving prerequisites (and the guts!) you too can go down and visit Grandpa. **CONTENT WARNING** - Our final story includes child death Stephanie wraps up the episode with a story that ties back to her Satanic Panic series. The West Memphis Three were three young men convicted of the murders of three young boys in 1994. But, just because they were convicted however, that doesn't mean they did it. Buckle up because it's quite a bumpy ride to the end of this story. And while you will get off the ride with all your limbs intact, you'll certainly have a knot in your stomach.
And we're back! With the second installment of the Linda Hazzard story. **TRIGGER/CONTENT WARNING** this episode deals with subjects of disordered eating, abuse, & child death We last left Linda in Washington state working hard scamming people, and building her sanitarium. And we were introduced to the Williamson sisters, Claire and Dora. They would prove to be Linda's downfall (in the USA that is), and after one sister dies in Linda's care she's finally charged with murder. And that would be the end of the story, right? Maybe for anyone else, but not for Linda. Tune in to hear what happens after the trial, and be sure to check back next week for PART 3!!! Stephanie wraps up the episode with the true crime, mysterious death of Kendrick Johnson. After 17 year old student didn't come home from school, his parents knew something was terribly wrong. But no-one would have guessed what actually happened - and to this day no-one really knows what happened. Listen to the details for yourself and let us know what you think. For us though - we stand with Kendrick's family, we believe it was a murder and we believe it's been covered up and now done so at the detriment of the family of the victim. Justice for Kendrick and peace for his family.
Unfortunately you'll have to wait 1 more week to hear the 2nd part of Linda Hazzard's saga. But we will NEVER leave you without a new episode in your feed. So please enjoy an episode from one of our bonus series' "What That Ghost Do?" Season 1 Episode 3: Ghost Adventures Location: Moundsville Penitentiary, West Virginia Don't worry, we didn't forget about Zac and the crew! (just been a little busy with life things). But we're here to talk about the Moundsville Penitentiary. Where the ghosts are abundant and the history is weird. At this prison people were "cooked, stabbed, burned to death in pots....among other things" "Did you hear that???" We'll be back in your feed next week with Part 2 of Linda Hazzard and Starvation Heights. 2 sisters went in, only 1 came out - what happened? How did it happened? What were the repercussions? And...is this really the end of the story??? Tune in next week to find out!! If you enjoyed this bonus content, head on over to our Patreon page for more! www.patreon.com/deadtimestoriez
**CONTENT WARNING** this episode contains a lot of death...I mean A LOT. Stephanie starts the episode with a slew of weird and unusual deaths. All from the past decade. And when we say weird, we mean, WEIRD. It's not quite 1000 Ways To Die - but it's at least 20. Sarah wraps up the episode with the first installment of her series all about Linda Hazzard. **CONTENT Warning for Sarah's portion -- this story deals with disordered eating and starvation** In the early 1900's Linda Hazzard developed her method that was sure to cure all and anything that might ail you. And that method was fasting...And it went about as well as you can expect. Before she wrote her book, she already had one patient death on her chart and that's just the very beginning. Part 1 covers Linda's past, her method, and her death toll up until 1911. Part 2 will unearth her eventual demise. We're so excited to bring you our first partnership!!! Less banter this week, because we want to jump right into our stories! Sarah starts us off with the tale of Andy the Goose. A goose born without feet, Andy seemed to be stuck to a life of hobbling until Gene Fleming came along. Creating a special pair of shoes for Andy, Gene gave him a new lease on life and a new job: as inspiration for all peoples with disabilities. Stephanie ends the episode by telling us all about "Choreomania" - also known as "The Dancing Plague". And it happened more than once! Multiple times between the 1300's - 1500's dancing outbreaks took place, some even resulting in death! But the scariest part of all - to this day no one knows the real causes of these events....
**TRIGGER WARNING** This episode touches on the topics of rape, incest, murder, and child death. Stephanie starts our episode out with a bang by telling us the true crime story of The Papin Sisters. In 1933 two sisters would reach the end of their patience. Having been dealt a bad hand from childhood, these sisters working as maids for an abusive boss, couldn't handle the capitalist bullshit any longer. In a gruesome attack, the Papin Sisters effectively ended their employment (and their freedom). Sarah finishes the episode with a good ol' Pennsylvania True Story-turned-Folklore. Elizabeth Wilson was set to hang for the death of her twin boys, but she was innocent and her brother William was going to get her acquited. However, much like the current legal system, William had many different hoops jump through to save his sisters life. Listen to the episode to find out, and find out how one of these siblings later became the "Pennsylvania Hermit". We're so excited to bring you our first partnership!!! And they say "can we get a piece of glow tape on this bar?" ***crickets*** We're taking things a little bit lighter this week! (and a little bit cheesier..you know you love it.) Sarah starts out with Southeast Asia's Folklore Feminist Icon "The Pontianak". Her legend has its roots in Malaysia, Indonesia, & Singapore. And believe us, you don't want to meet her...or hear her...or even look at her! Stephanie wraps up by telling us all about the one white man who wanted to hunt witches before hunting witches was cool (hipster). Though Heinrich Kramer never successfully "convicted" a witch, he did write the book that would become the basis of the witch trials that started in 1560 (55 years after his death!)
