We present a classic case of the prosecution doing its' best to grease the wheels of mass incarceration by trying to send the client to prison without the requisite proof beyond a reasonable doubt only to be thwarted by the local public defender who knows the case and the community the best.

The jury trial and charge speaks to all of the issues and problems our country currently faces; it's a case that stemmed from racial profiling with the trial occurring in the middle of the pandemic and during the country's protests against police brutality. This episode is a little longer than most but totally worth the listen.   Enjoy!
A Gang murder trial told by Santa Clara Alternate Deputy Public Defender Sajid Khan who shares how he fought the case and the prosecution's bogus theory from beginning to end, even going to the appellate court for relief, but ultimately having to leave it in the hands of the jury to decide his innocent client's fate.

I really miss the old days of the podcast when the PDs were allowed to tell their stories mostly uninterrupted. Having to listen to it in fits and starts is... Painful. It absolutely destroys the momentum. Especially when the host clearly wasn't paying attention to what the PD is saying, because everything he asks/states was something they JUST SAID and he's repeatedly corrected. Ugh.

Please just let them tell their story. Ask questions later if he doesn't address them. Y'all keep asking questions that he literally JUST described. And/or you "repeat" but... You get it wrong. And it's eeeeveerry show. Please... Just let these Rockstars talk. 🙏

I legit cried. What a great not guilty. Sad to hear the end result of the trauma, though. Just highlights the ripple effect of the IO's failure to do the right thing. Sigh.

I feel compelled to preface this comment with a quick statement regarding my political leanings and personal moal beliefs in order to dispel any knee-jerk opinion that i may be one of those "back the blue," conservative, "law and order" types who just defends cops n all actions.. I am a staunch anarchist-in the purest definition of the political theory.. I firmly believe that "the only good govt is no govt." i do not waste my time either supporting or opposing bems or republicans, i find them equally repulsive in their relentless dishonesty and personal greed.. that being said.. For the record, I wanted offer some anecdotal evidence that disputes ur offhand claim that EVERYONE fails their field sobriety test.. i have personally been administered field sobriety tests-twice after being pulled over by police and once following a car accident.. In all instances, it was late at night/early a.m. hrs and i was headed home from a bar.. i was 100% guilty of being over the legal limit to drive.

I am fairly new to your podcast, but am almost caught up and am dreading the wait for weekly episode releases. I am an avid true crime fan, but the vast majority of stories are from the point of view of the police, the prosecutors, or the victims. It is so refreshing to hear from the defense side, especially from the perspective of the attorney directly involved. It's also nice to be reminded that most cases in the system are not murder! And the way you present it makes it so much fun to listen to. Thank you, and please keep up the good work.
