A growing number of disabled people in Britain are now living in poverty - as are their carers. Yet while public spending on benefits has fallen dramatically, the cost of paying contractors to conduct controversial fitness-to-work assessments has soared. Literally thousands of sick and disabled people are now known to have died after being declared fit for work. And there's evidence the system is being quietly 'rigged' to put off disabled people from claiming benefits to which they're entitled. The UN says the UK government has committed "grave and systematic" violations of disabled people's human rights. New statistics now show an alarming surge in the number of hate crimes committed against disabled people - the result, it's claimed, of a 'hostile environment'..Eduardo Goncalves speaks to Linda Burnip of Disabled People Against Cuts to find out how Universal Credit is hitting disabled people. .www.greenfuturenews.com@greenfuturenewsfacebook.com/greenfuturenews
A new campaign has been launched to make trophy hunting illegal. The Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting said that trophy hunting was cruel, unnecessary, and was pushing some of the world's most endangered wildlife even further to the brink of extinction.Nearly 2500 hunting trophies had been brought back to Britain alone in the past few years, according to the Campaign. It also revealed that the most popular animals for UK trophy hunters were elephants, hippos, bears, baboons, leopards, zebras and lions.Green Future News supports the campaign to make trophy hunting illegal. More than 1 MILLION hunting “trophies” were imported into the US & Europe over the past decade. A QUARTER OF A MILLION were from endangered species. In this week’s episode, we expose the brutal reality behind the canned hunting industry - a part of the trophy hunting industry which is so controversial that even some trophy hunters find it objectionable. We reveal how lion cubs are taken from the wild, kept in battery farming-like conditions, and how conservation volunteers are unknowingly conned into propping up the industry. We also reveal how pro-hunting lobbies have permeated conservation bodies, and the links to Asian crime cartels trading in lion bones for so-called medicines.  In the words of Chris Mercer, CEO of the Campaign Against Canned Hunting: “It’s a sick industry from top to bottom - the people involved need psychiatric help.”Available for download NOW. Is Britain guilty of war crimes? The United Nations says the humanitarian disaster in Yemen is the worst in the world. Britain could be partly responsible for the catastrophe that has seen thousands of people killed. The reason? The arms trade - and specifically Britain's murky deals with Saudi Arabia. We talk to Andrew Smith of Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CAAT) about how the UK government has licensed billions of pounds worth of arms sales - including missiles and fighter jets - that are being used indiscriminately by Saudi forces in the ongoing war in Yemen and which have hit schools, hospitals and even a busload of children. We also reveal how successive British governments have shut down investigations into corruption, the pernicious influence of arms traders over British foreign policy, and how Europe's largest arms dealer is said to have "the back door keys to Downing Street". The National Trust - a national treasure, or a national disgrace? Why is it letting HUNTERS onto its estates? And did it deliberately mislead its members before a knife-edge vote? PLUS: the hunting industry's dirtiest secret revealed. We speak exclusively to the author of a new book "The Fox, The Hound & The Human" which reveals how THOUSANDS of fox-cubs are deliberately targeted by hunters each year...and how they SHOOT thousands of their own dogs too. Presenter: Eduardo Goncalves www.greenfuturenews.com @greenfuturenews facebook.com/greenfuturenews
It's the secret fox-hunters desperately want to keep hidden from public knowledge. Every year, they teach thousands of puppies to kill by using young fox-cubs. It's a practice known as cub-hunting (or cubbing, or sometimes 'autumn hunting'). The reason they do this is even more shocking: hunts kill thousands of their own DOGS each year. Mostly they are perfectly healthy middle-aged dogs who aren't as fast as their fellow hounds. Some though are tiny puppies who are the "wrong" size or shape. Hayley Caldaralo from Stop Hunting Fox-Cubs talks about the brutal cycle of cruelty, while up-and-coming wildlife photographer Lawrie Brailey talks about his love of foxes...and why he has spent 6 years photographing them. Presenter: Eduardo Goncalves www.greenfuturenews.com www.facebook.com/greenfuturenews @greenfuturenews
