The UK's War on Porn

The UK's War on Porn

2019-07-0726:18

We talk about the UK's hilariously ill-thought out "porn block". What is it, and why is it happening? We also look at the biggest players in the porn industry, how the "porn block" is playing right into their hands, and why porn companies get away with treating performers so badly.
Recently, the UK taxpayer shelled out over 2 million pounds for Harry and Meghan to do up their new home. How are the royals still a thing? Why do people, especially Americans, seemed to love them so much, and will we ever be free of them.e-mail questions/topics to lea@moneysexpower.fm
Joe Biden is still topping the Democratic primary polls. He is also a really, really bad guy. We take a quick look at his record. Spoilers: it's not good. We also discuss his flip-flopping on abortion rights, and why he keeps e-mailing Lea late at night.
Did you think there was only one? Theresa May has announced her upcoming resignation, which means that whoever wins the Conservative Party leadership election will automatically become the next Prime Minister of the UK. And it looks like it's going to be Boris Johnson, AKA British Trump.
As Alabama tries to take women's rights back a hundred years with its abortion ban, we look at the long term war on reproductive rights. The USA is bad, but, despite what you might think, the UK isn't that great either.
If you want to choose the topic of next week's episode, e-mail us at lea@moneysexpower.fmThis week, we're talking about the British class system. What does it mean to be 'posh'? Why does everyone here have funny accents? And is it really any different from America?

Lea wants to know why women's razors are so much more expensive than men's, even though they're the same exact product. We talk about how sexism is used to gauge women shoppers, and how you should fight back.
As further proof that this hell will never end, the Democratic Primary is already in motion. Lea is team Warren, Felix is still an obnoxious Bernie Bro, but before we start arguing with each other, we team up to dunk on the other candidates.
The White Man's Burden

The White Man's Burden

Why did Esquire magazine feel the need to celebrate Black History Month with an article about how hard it is being a straight white boy in Trump's America? More importantly, should we be trying to sympathize with Trump supporters at all?

Who is Q?

Do you like insane conspiracy theories? Do you like Donald Trump? Do you like angry teenage virgins with a poor grip on reality? Well,it doesn't matter, because we're still going to introduce you to the wonderful world of QAnon, the conspiracy theory that's taking over the Republican Party.
We've all read articles about how we should try to save up, but is it useful advice? We take a look at all the ways low-earners are prevented from saving, and how an empty bank account eats away at your ability to plan for the future.
In the wake of the video showing a crowd of MAGA-hat-wearing Catholic schoolboys mocking a Native American protester, we ask why the Today Show felt the need to invite one of them on to explain why he totally wasn't a racist at all.
The Best a Man Can Get

The Best a Man Can Get

Should we celebrate that Gillette is calling out toxic masculinity in its new ad campaign? Lea tries to give a women's perspective, and Felix denounces her as a running dog of capitalism imperialism, before we are reunited in our mutual hatred of Piers Morgan.
Lea introduces Felix to the world's first charcoal vulva mask, much to his confusion. After that, we take a look at the pseudo-scientific health products that are supposed to make us sexier. Because nothing says female empowerment like telling women that their bodies are gross and in need of constant maintenance to appear desirable.
To celebrate the New Year, Lea introduces Felix to the wonderful world of money diaries. Why are women sharing their spending habits, why does it make baby-boomers so angry? Why does everyone keep telling us young people don't save up enough, when the economy needs us to spend more? NB. Sorry for the thumping in the background - we're making some improvements to the apocalypse bunker. Music by Brock Berriganwww.brockberrigan.combit.ly/BrockSpotify

We review episode one of 2016 sensation, The Sex Factor - the internet's bravest attempt to combine porn and reality TV. What is it? Why did anyone think this was a good idea? And more importantly, is it further evidence that we should nationalize the porn industry? Also, Lea has a cold.
Why did a white-supremacist kill 11 Jews in Pittsburgh? In fact, why do white supremacists care about Jews at all? We introduce you to the conspiracy theory that underpins the entire movement.
