Every Tuesday, I will bring you my own personal stories and how I became the runner, trainer and coach I am today, as well as actionable results from being injured that have enabled me to become a better coach for my clientele. Coach Alli, Host of the RUNWITHALLI LIVE Podcast interviews a new, special guest, Jackie Hellyer, to chat about her involvement in Girls on the Run, a non-profit program for young ladies to support, encourage and inspire each other through running and the skills that go along with it!Jackie is from West Virginia and is a wife, a mother of 3 and she is a 4th grade teacher! Around a decade back, Jackie was asked to become a part of Girls on the Run, helping 8-11 year old young ladies build a community through running and a supportive community around the sport! The program includes a varied range of young ladies from 3rd to 5th grade and has been opened up to 6th-8th graders as well! FUN FACT: The most recent race for the organization included 1,200 ladies! That's crazy! But SO FREAKIN' COOL! The girls involved in the organization learn not only learn about how to build a community, but they also learn how to give back to one. Jackie opens up in this episode about her love for running, how she found it, why she loves it, her involvement in Girls on the Run and how she's found her love for the sport of running through support and encouragement from her fellow running family and young ladies that she helps to coach! Nellie Putur is a 22-year-old grad student earning her Master's and teaching license in Vermont. Nellie has a goal of running a half-marathon in all 50 states within the USA. So far, she has ran 12 states with Virginia being next on her list. She got into running these traveling half-marathons through her curiosity of seeing the country through running.
