We partnered with FreePeopleTV in order to bring you the first "Inbetweason" epsiode of Let's Get Bizzy. Please be sure to watch this interview on YouTube @FreePeopleTV. In this Inbetweason episode we are joined by Bruce Bauman. We're on the scene of his annual event "The Community Share Fest", we dive into how the event got started as a birthday party with the intent to give more than receive and how it grew into the large event it is today with that same purpose in mind. We also discuss his growth and journey as an activist, even though he would not like to label himself as such. As well as touching on some interesting facts about himself like, suing the federal reserve, suing the Denver PD and why he felt it was important to see those cases through. Join us for an intriguing and inspiring conversation.
Russo Binks is a Denver based poet turned rapper. He has been busy working to take his career in Hip Hop to the next level. At 30 years-old he feels slightly behind the curve but he won't let that or any other obstacle stop him. It took him a while to discover the passion but he's there. After years of alcohol and drug abuse hindering his creativity and work ethic, he has now got his head on straight and is prepared for the road ahead. He started writing and rapping as a way to cope with life, his addiction and the loss of his brother. He vows to never lose that raw authenticity. No matter what the pressure to not be yourself in this industry may feel like, he knows there is a way to make it and still be who you want to be. Even when they tell you you can't. Russo Binks says, "Fuck a 'no'. Let's Get Bizzy".
MO SPKX is an OG of the underground rap scene in Denver. He has made a path for himself and for the people after him to find success in an industry that can kill dreams if not careful or persistent enough. mira easy to tell Mo believes in humanity. He gives all he can through learning and then teaching all those that are looking to learn themselves. Join us for a conversation full of insight, inspiration and intellect. Let’s Get Bizzy
Babah Fly stops by for a discussion on what it means to come back to one's true self. Growing up in Little Rock, he found himself in a diverse culture of Southern white folk, punk kids and - in his words - the "knuckle heads" of the streets. Surrounded by this, he found himself involved with selling drugs and robbing, as well as being a conscience artist unaccepted by most of the population for his Hip Hop roots. Needless to say he has had a long powerful journey of self-discovery. One that has continued into his adult life. Something that comes along with being a creative as a calling and a career as well as experiencing life events such as divorce. Now His goal is to help guide as many people into and through their own journey of self-discovery, healing and the art of choosing love. He does this through his Music which he has been known to describe as Verbal Reiki.Let's Get Bizzy
Poets/musicians/cypher curators Ahmad JP and 2B noquestion join the podcast this episode. The two guests this week were the hosts and creators of the cypher that many of Denver's most talented rappers have a personal connection to: The PHACT.PHACT was a cypher where the main goal was to curate community between anyone and everyone that stepped foot into the basement of the Gypsy House Cafe while The PHACT was there. In many ways The PHACT was to the city what this Podcast is. A way to create a musical connection from within. Addressing the theme of creating within, Ahmad talks to us about his journey with creating his own self liberation from within through the song we shares with us this episode: Dancing With The Enemy. He know helps others create their own healing from within through leading Reiki and meditation sessions with his own Medicine Music.2B creates his own liberation from heartbreak from within with the song he shares with us: A 12 point Guide. We are creating success for ourselves from within ourselves and for our city from within in our city. Let's Get Bizzy
One of the most talented Emcees to ever exist joins us this episode - Smiley Gatmouth. This boy is truly triflin. Through a little self-incrimination we get into how he managed to get into college and graduate college when he probably shouldn't have been able to. We talk some about gentrification, what it's like to see it happen in an area you don't relate to and then see it happen in your own home. What it means to the cities it happens to and the native residents of those communities. How to approach it at as the gentrifying citizen and how we as the gentrified can approach it as well. Smiley is a great friend, a great Musician and a all around great person. Find out for yourself in this episode. Let's Get Bizzy.

Stayin Bizzy w/ Jelie

I don't like to promote the idea that you HAVE to sacrifice rest and self care for a successful life. Mainly because my goal is to create a path to success, through my own journey, where that is not the case. However, passion does come with hard work...uncomfortable work. Which often times looks like late nights. Late nights, usually followed by early mornings due to a 9-5.Jelie, our guest for this episode, relates to that. She lives that. Jelie is a young and driven artist. She watched her father make music and was able to start creating on her own at a very young age because of that. She takes us through her 22 year journey. Which involves graduating with a degree in Audio Production from The University of Colorado at Denver. A degree she says has not much to do with her success now. She has created her own online community/business where she gets paid through sponsors to teach how to produce music in Reason (branching out to Ableton as well). Also accompanied by a growing and appreciated Emcee career here in Denver. And although being a young, black, lesbian woman in the music industry definitely comes with a lack of deserved respect, she does not allow that to slow her down. She gets Bizzy. She stays Bizzy
Off the jump, Acuna starts teaching me. Acuna has been around the underground scene for about 20 years. Even so he admits that he is continuing to learn and grow himself. He has been able to generate a stable and successful career and lifestyle off of his music. He is now looking into helping Denver come together as a city to be able to generate successful and stable careers for Its underground scene entirely. Like me, he notices most artist in Denver wanting success for themselves. He breaks down how places like Houston and Atlanta have been able to create individual pockets for their city where many of their rappers can generate wealth without ever having to leave their city. We hope to do the same for Denver. Let's Get Bizzy
Kid Astronaut is a time/dimension traveler, father, musician and podcast host. His music is soulful and real. Check him out on youtube to hear his music and listen to his podcast: "The Kid Astronaut Podcast".We had a great conversation about what being a musician means for us in regards of what kind of impact we can make on the people who hear us. How can we reach as many people as possible and stay true to who we are? Ultimately, will stayin true to who we are lead us to reaching as many people as possible? So many questions, so little time to find out the answers. So we jus go for it.
Json Martin is a Denver based singer, songwriter, rapper, producer, engineer, video/photographer, and so much more. He stops by for the 7th episode of Let's Get Bizzy and we go in to some real conversation that may stir the pot for some folks. We talk about our opinions on what good rap sounds like. We talk about cultural appropriation and that it is alive and well in Denver's hip hop scene. We talk homophobia in the rap community and in the Black community. The list of topics is heavy. We had a great time talking and getting to know each other though so please tag a long and get to know us more yourself!
Jen Korte (aka Lady Gang) and Felix Ayodele (aks Felix Fast4ward) are two of Denver's most talented musicians! Both from Texas, both loop musicians, both have made names for themselves in genres other than Hip Hop. However, Felix started as a b-boy and a DJ and Jen has deep emotional roots with Hip Hop and is now tapping into those with her newest project Lady Gang. In this episode I came "overly prepared" as Felix says. I am so inspired and motivated by these two musicians I did a lot of research and came with pages full of the things I wanted to know about them. We discuss the transitions these tow have made; musically, geographically and mentally. We discuss racism and sexism in the music industry. We discuss over coming obstacles we have faced. This hour and 45 minute conversations touches many topics and is never boring! Thank you Jen and Felix!

Supply & Demand w/ SAiiiNT

SAiiiNT stops by this week. We get to discuss his opinion on not getting to set on long term goals, the importance of authenticity and a point a view I have never had myself - when it comes to making music - simply making it because there is a demand for it. Some rappers rap because the demand is there and business is good. SAiiiNT is one of them. He can be quoted saying something along the lines of, "The second they stop asking me to make music, I'll stop making music." He points out there are many other things he could do with his time. As of right now though, he's using his time to make good music for us. One track per week is SAiiiNT's goal for the rest of 2019. Looking forward to seeing what's in supply for our demand!

I had a lot of fun with this episode! In this episode, I was canceled on by my guest last minute. I had to think quick and come up with an entertaining episode pretty much on the spot. I decided to do a break-down of the lyrics in 5 of my songs. I tell the meaning and the story behind each song, bar by bar. The songs featured are:1.) BigUp2.) Milk + Honey3.) EgoTrip4.) Purple5.) James BondageThese songs can all be enjoyed on my SoundCloud (@JuiceBizzy or soundcloud.com/juicebopin)

This episode I give you my experience with hip hop: How'd I get started? Why did I get started? What has my journey and my growth as a rapper looked like? This episode is important because it helped me realize the type of information I'd like to get from my future guests. The conversations I have with them will be similar to this one I had with myself this week.

One of JuiceBizzy's closest friends and biggest local inspirations comes in this episode. Together they reminisce on and discuss what it was like being introduced and involved with the underground scene. This episode, though not very in depth touches on an important piece of information about Denver's Hip Hop scene and gives a great lesson to any artists starting out: We are tight knit. Sticking together and inspiring each other to become better in every way is the only way we make it as a whole.

JuiceBizzy gets vulnerable and informative as he discusses the recent passings of Nipsey Hussle and Mac Miller and his take on 2018 in hip hop, as well as his experience and upbringing in Denver's underground scene. He is not too shy to dive into his personal backstory where he talks about his experience with drug addiction and his recovery and how that affected his artistry and his passion then and what it's done for him now!
