Pivot. Shift focus. Whatever the words...how we do one thing, we do everything.  That statement should give us pause.  A pause, an opportunity, to stop and think about what state we're in, at any given point in our life, but especially now during these unusual and extraordinary times we are living in. Some tools for living. . . "When you acknowledge what you do not want, and then ask yourself, "What is it that I do want?" you begin a gradual shift into the telling of your new story and into a much-improved point of attraction. You get the essence of what you think about - whether you want it or not - because Law of Attraction is unerringly consistent - therefore, you are never only telling the story of "how it is now." You are also telling the future experience that you are creating right now." --Abraham HicksAbraham Hicks uses an Emotional Guidance Scale to help with understanding how to create a different [good] feeling. And when you check out the scale, it will make total sense!  Here are some [22] of our most felt emotions, and as you can see on the scale, the higher up, the happier, and of course, the lower on the scale, the more unhappy.Find the emotion where you are at the moment. Then speak and think yourself up the scale. . . one emotion at the time. You can allow yourself to feel differently and with the right kind of thoughts. In this episode, Allison refers to another podcast episode that is partnered with her book, Accelerate Your Mojo. You know the saying ... you won't let your phone battery get too low so don't let your own battery do that either? In our conditioned world of rushing around and surviving life, do we recognize when our own personal battery has run out? Do we acquiesce to other circumstances and betray our self-care?  You are not alone. In fact, we are more alike than we are different.  Self-care needs to be paramount in a person's life. What does that need to look like? How does it need to feel? What changes need to happen to achieve that level of awareness to allow our intuitive guidance to lead the way? Well, Allison and Lucia have got something to say about all of that!Check out our raw, unscripted, conversation and let us know how you weigh in on the topic! Communicating with others can be so frustrating some days. You try to say what you mean, you think about the words that feel right ... and then the other person doesn't get it. Maybe they get mad at you; maybe they misunderstand. It happens to everyone. The listening process involves: receiving, understanding, evaluating, remembering, and responding. Active listening is a particular communication technique that requires the listener to provide feedback on what (s)he hears and feels to the speaker.Active listening builds strong relationships and, while it may not come naturally to many of us, it's an invaluable communication skill. Strong and effective communication skills are essential in areas of life where emotions often reach critical mass. Are you aware of how you communicate? Are you aware of how you respond? Actively listen? How are you showing up as a listener and a communicator? In this episode, Allison and Lucia discuss communication, the way it goes awry, why it doesn't always work out the way we planned and offer a few tips to make it better next time.Be sure to join the conversation by rating this podcast, leaving feedback and/or joining us in the private Let Your Cork Float Facebook group. Forgiveness is a loaded word for some of us.Is it for us?Is it for the other person? What's really happening when I forgive?Psychologists generally define forgiveness as a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness. Forgiveness, however, is for our own growth and happiness. When we hold on to hurt, pain, resentment, and anger it harms us far more than it harms the offender. Forgiveness frees us to live in the present. Forgiveness allows us to move on without anger or contempt or seeking revenge.Interestingly, if you can change the way you think and feel about a "thing", in this case, forgiveness, it helps to move forward with your life with an open heart and an open spirit. Forgiving yourself first. . . your thoughts, your beliefs, your judgments, is often the pathway to that end.You see, every thought creates energy and sits in your body and marinates in toxins. Toxins of Anger, Shame, Guilt, Resentment, and Bitterness. Releasing and forgiving sets YOU free. It does not condone the actions of the 'what' that has happened, but it sets YOU free from harboring those toxins! Breaking this word apart has helped with acceptance and reframing forgiveness. Ponder this concept. . . For-giving is necessary For-getting love. When you cannot for-give, then you cannot invite the love that you want into your life. Join us as we begin to sort thru this topic, share some insights and reframing and offer another way to look and feel about forgiveness and how to use forgiveness to change your energy, your perception, and, more importantly, your experience.Be sure to join the conversation by rating this podcast, leaving feedback and/or joining us in the private Let Your Cork Float Facebook group. In a world where perfection and being 'perfect' is highly acclaimed, we can get bogged down with that race to Nirvana (a state of perfect happiness; an ideal or idyllic place). But is there such a thing as 'perfect'? (Perfect, as a verb, defined here as making [something] completely free from faults or defects, or as close to such a condition as possible.) If we keep a 'tunnel-vision' sense of a perfect self, we risk missing all the good stuff showing up in life and, more importantly, acknowledging that good stuff!! Recognizing our growth is as important, if not more, as recognizing our areas of opportunity. . . what we likely deem not perfect! Celebrating the win is essential to our emotional and spiritual growth. (Emotional growth - both positive and negative - defined here as the ability to recognize, express, and manage feelings at different stages of life; Spiritual growth defined as affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.)Join this important conversation and weigh in!  Whether it be participating in the FB group or just in the intimacy of your own thoughts. Doing the work of shedding 'old' or 'disempowering' beliefs is brutal and liberating all in one  [emotional] package! (We'll discuss why the word old is in quotation marks, in the title, in another episode but if you're thinking about an idea, feeling it and talking about it, it's not old, it's current and very much present in your life.)Most of us fear change and because of that fear we live with the uncomfortable awareness that something needs to shift. . .  but we won't do anything about it. We remain comfortable in the discomfort of our lives. (But of course! It's what we know!) In this episode, Lucia shares her vulnerable 'shedding' process with Allison because that's what was showing up this day. Sharing the truth of her experience paved the way for her emotional relief. Boundaries ... they aren't just a line in the sand!Sometimes people cross yours, sometimes you cross theirs ... and it usually becomes one big stinking mess.In this episode, we discuss what boundaries are, how they get crossed, and what to do if you find yourself in this type of situation. Not surprisingly, people pleasers often let their boundaries get crossed and suffer the consequences of not being able to say, "No." (Is this you?!?!)Teachers cross students emotional, mental, and God forbid, sometimes even physical boundaries.Spouses sometimes test each other by using what they know about the inner workings of one another to "test" one another.Parents do it to children; children do it to parents. Friends do it to friends, strangers do it with strangers, often unwittingly. The list goes on and on and the emotional, mental, or (again, God forbid) or even physical damage occurs when boundaries get crossed or broken. But, things CAN change. Listen in as Allison and Lucia discuss this important topic and learn some valuable ideas and strategies to effectuate change in your own life regarding boundaries.Be sure to join the conversation by rating this podcast, leaving feedback and/or joining us in the private Let Your Cork Float Facebook group. If you've ever had an idea of what you wanted to do, or the way something was going to happen, AND THEN IT DIDN'T WORK OUT .....then this is the episode for you.Emotions such as frustration, panic, anger, sadness, anxiety, or even hopelessness are normal when things don't go as planned. It might even seem like everything is ruined. But, there is a way out of the inner emotional turmoil, as well as changing the way things turn out if you'll just make these few adjustments to your approach to the situation.Using the very real example of a podcast recording (for this show) looking like it would not be working out as planned, Allison and Lucia walk you through what they did to change the course of their results. In a nutshell, it appeared that episode #10 of this podcast wasn't going to happen when they wanted it to happen, (which they wanted to post on a Tuesday, not a Wednesday) in order for them to remain consistent with their goal of publishing weekly). This was very disappointing, to say the least. We're happy to report that using the techniques we talk about in THIS SHOW, they changed the trajectory of a result that looked—quite strongly—like it wouldn't work out as they planned. Yippee!!They're very excited to share this important episode with you because .... if you're human, then you've undoubtedly planned on something happening, had it not happen, then gotten discouraged and maybe even wanted to give up or felt like good things we're never going to happen for you. This podcast offers a solution to that both the emotional roller coaster and the end result happening in your favor. In this episode, we refer to Walt Disney's technique of making moving pictures and the effects of vibration on form. Brené Brown defines vulnerability as "the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity".Would you agree? How do you define vulnerability? Do you feel like it helps you live better or does it just cause you more pain? It's not about winning or losing. It's about having the courage to show up when you can't control the outcome or what others make of your emotions. Ouch. That's a big one. Not being able to control the outcome applies to pretty much everything in life.In this episode, Allison and Lucia discuss how, in a time where public shaming, bullying, and invoking fear in others is rampant on social media and in person, vulnerability is more necessary than ever. Why? Not for the benefit of others, but so that YOU can enjoy life more fully. In this episode we discuss:~Vulnerability in person to person~Vulnerability in person to circumstance~Vulnerability in a conversation ... what works and what shuts it down~Vulnerability in owning your own thoughts, feelings, and stories~Vulnerability and happiness ... what's their relationship?Put on your headphones. Overscheduling or overextending yourself by trying to do [and be more] for work, family, friends or success, can leave you just plain overwhelmed. It's soooo easy to do, especially for people-pleasers like us. We want others to continue to think well of us, and sometimes that comes with a price to our own well-being and sanity.Join Allison and Lucia as they discuss this very important (and potential life-changing) topic. What is so wonderful about these ladies is their personal and welcoming "good friends having a glass of wine and just chatting" style makes even difficult topics such as saying, "No!" so you have more time for yourself, clearly the best choice. It's just always easier said than done. In this episode, Allison's second children's book Wow Cat's Adventures with Adjectives is mentioned. It's a wonderful addition to the Home School child's curriculum. Her first book titled Ebb and Flo: A Day at the Beach was written to help children ages 2-5 overcome the feeling of overwhelm and change.Be sure to join the conversation by rating this podcast, leaving feedback and/or joining us in the private Let Your Cork Float Facebook group.
