We are all on a journey, we all have struggles and triumphs and they don’t always come easily or quickly. Sometimes, we find ourselves sludging through this phase for a session of our life. We can look at other people, business owners, celebrities and feel like they have it all figured out and place them on a pedestal. In this week’s episode of the Catalyst Community Connections Podcast, our guest for this episode is Heather Falkin, owner of Sangha Yoga, located in the Seattle neighborhood of Queen Anne. In our conversation, we talk about her journey from a place of being unsure, looking for guidance and routine to the place she is today. Heather has experienced struggle in the past and continues to work through hurdles today just like each and every one of does. The lessons she has learned from those struggles and triumphs have helped her find her path, routine and balance in her life. Be it her weekly meanderings through the woods in Seattle, or onto her mat to remember who she is.Her practice magically transports her back to a space of receptivity, self-reflection, and stillness. For the last 20 years, she has dedicated herself to understanding how the dynamic practices and teachings of the yogic tradition transform us and unite us.At Sangha Yoga, Heather seeks to merge the old school and the new school approaches to guide students to a sacred place within themselves. Heather’s classes are rooted in the eight limbs of yoga, Vedic tradition, Hindu mythology, Buddism and the lessons. Her classes are physically invigorating, mentally clarifying, spiritually awakening and fun. Teaching from her heart to support the needs of the students in the room is her highest goal and she feels that her continued self-study and growth are key in reaching it.When not teaching, practicing yoga, and tending to Sangha Yoga, Heather can be found tending to her family. She takes time for herself in the form of reading, walking her dogs and SUP’ing on the sound. Her soul is nourished when in the mountains, close to the ocean, traveling, and listening to music.
At Catalyst Health Studio we understand that if working out is an important part of your life and identity, you would want to get back as soon as you can. Which is why we often are asked when can an individual start exercising after they've given birth? Join Dr. Emerald Mojica and Rachel DeBusk of Unstill Life as they discuss when and how to start exercise after giving birth.
In this episode of the Catalyst Community Connections Podcast, I talk with Joseph Hunton, a Hellerwork and Massage Practitioner. During our conversation, we talk about several topics ranging from visceral manipulation for adults and even for individuals during the postpartum period. There are many ways that we can remove these physical and developmental roadblocks be that through prenatal chiropractic, pediatric chiropractic or bodywork such as Hellerwork or massage therapy. No matter the route you choose to take with yourself and your child I can not stress enough that it’s extremely important to ensure that the practitioner or bodyworker you are seeing has had appropriate training to work with an individual who is either pregnant or an infant. Join me as Joseph Hunton and I discuss the many ways our viscera and cranium can have huge effects on our life.
In this third episode of the Catalyst Community Connections Podcast, I discuss with Albert Israel how to prepare your finances to send your child to college without taking on debt. By making small changes in our day to day lives we can begin to accrue a significant amount of money for our children's college fund. Along with working with other relatives and taking the extra steps to ensure your child will be happy and successful at college, you can help reduce or even eliminate the debt that can so easily weight down our children.
We spend an increasingly large amount of our time inside. Making sure the air quality in the spaces we occupy is  more important than ever. This is especially true if we have small children or seniors living in the home. Join me as I speak with Stephen Cancler of Full Home Inspection Services as he gives us the 411 on how to help keep the air we and our families breath clean so we can stay healthy. This podcast and its discussions contain only the opinions of Dr. Emerald and his guests. In this episode of the Catalyst Community Connections Podcast, we discuss what a doula is, what services they provide and who might benefit from hiring a doula for their birth and/or postpartum with Melinda Ferguson, owner, mentor, and doula at Calm & Confident Doula Care. Through the experience of having her own children, Melinda came to appreciate how overwhelming being a new parent can be. She left a career as an oceanographer and environmental scientist to become a birth and postpartum doula. Melinda loves supporting new families and doulas. She's a DONA Postpartum Doula Trainer, and a DONA Advanced Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula with more than twelve years experience and hundreds of families supported. She especially enjoys working with families experiencing a high risk pregnancy or perinatal mood or anxiety disorder (depression, anxiety, etc.). This podcast and its discussions contain only the opinions of Dr. Emerald and his guests.
