Happy Holidays!

2020-12-2434:04

We wanted to do something special for our last episode of 2020, so we’ll be chatting about our holiday favorites, traditions, and everything in between and get a chance to hear some holiday greetings from the rest of the USciences community too! Although this holiday season may be a little differ for everyone, we hope this episode provides some holiday cheer! Happy holidays to all of our listeners and we look forward to what’s to come in the coming year!
We sat down with USciences Black Student Union President, Massandje Dosso, and Secretary, Lexi Visco to discuss the student organization's work on campus in the wake of heightened discussion across the country about social justice and community engagement. Now more than ever it's important for us to be open and honest with one another about the realities in our society. Our students and university are doing amazing things in and out of the West Philly area to make it abundantly clear that Black Lives Matter.

It's our birthday! Not really - but it is for the podcast! This month we take some time to reflect on the highs and lows of starting 43rd & Woodland and where it's taken us over the last year in connecting more broadly with our alumni community.  We also touch on where we're envisioning this podcast will go moving forward and we hope that you join us for that journey! Enjoy
To round out our "Proven Everywhere" series we got to sit down with the phenomenal Mayank Amin (PharmD '09).  Mayank has had such an amazing career since graduating ten years ago and we were so excited to sit down with him and chat about that career. Mayank is the owner and operator of Skippack Pharmacy and Platinum Dream Events - a wedding planning company he started after finishing up business school.  Mayank has also been a cast double for Dev Patel in M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" so his career has spanned at least three different major industry, probably more.  Excited for you all to hear about his #proveneverywhere USciences experience! You can find more information about Mayank and his work on Instagram @skippackpharmacy and @platinumdreamevents as well as on Facebook and LinkedIn!
For our third episode in the "Proven Everywhere" series we got to chat with Stephanie Pham (PHB '15) who has an incredibly unique story by translating her pharmaceutical healthcare business degree into the entertainment industry.  Since graduating, Stephanie and her friends have created an amazing digital media group called "Art School Dropouts" that creates action and comedy films aiming to entertain through martial arts and comedic acting. You can find out more about Art School Dropouts on their website artschooldropouts.com, as well as on Facebook and Instagram @artschooldropouts. They also have an awesome YouTube channel where you can watch all of their films, behind the scenes bloopers, and more!
Our second episode of the "Proven Everywhere" series stars one of our first real celebrities: Felinah Buslig (Bio '15)!  Felinah not only holds a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, but she is actively pursuing a music career in her spare time. She's made some amazing songs and albums in the past five years and you can actually hear her latest song, "Stay on the Ground" in this episode AND on Spotify. Happy New Year! We're excited to sit down with our very own group - the USciences Young Professionals Organization - to give some insight about what we are, what we do, and how you can join us in connecting young alumni across the country with each other, the university, current students, and faculty! We hope you enjoy listening and PLEASE reach out if you are interested in supporting the YPO in any way!
In a second installment of our discussion on finances we sit down with Brent Greenlee, a Rutgers University alum with close personal ties to USci. In his experience of corporate finance and with his background in economics, Brent lays out some of the best tips for current students and recent grads on how to manage finances, save for the future, and still enjoy your money while you're young. We're excited to bring this episode with additional resources from Brent and the university because we know that finances (the bane of everyone's existence) can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be after you're finished listening to this episode.
