A sermon on Ephesians 1 from the Fall semester of 2000 by the Very Rev. Dr. Henry L. Thompson III, or 'Laurie' for short.  Throughout this sermon Laurie reminds us of our identity as part of the bride of Jesus Christ.  We are called out, deeply loved, and united together despite our many differences and imperfections. Thanks for listening. If you want  to support Trinity School for Ministry, and pick up some tasteful Trinity logo merchandise at the same time, head over to our new online store at:  https://www.thetrinitystore.org/en/usd
An interview with the Rev. Dr. Johannes W. H. van der Bijl (DMin '12) about his life, ministry, and the sacred purpose of his most recent book titled:  Breakfast on the Beach - The development of Simon Peter.  Johann spent many years teaching at a theological training college in Ethiopia.  There he learned (among other things) the potency of storytelling when teaching the truths of God's Word, especially in the context of aural learning communities.  His book teaches the cultural context of the gospels through a narrative from the eyes of Simon Peter:  "The Rock" on which Jesus built his church. How about yet another change of pace?  We've prepared two sermons from September of 2019 by two of our faculty members:  Dr. Erika Moore, and The Rt. Rev. Dr. Grant LeMarquand. The first one was given by Dr. Moore on Psalm chapter 1.  She explains the significance of chapters 1 and 2 as the gateway to the Psalms.  Setting the tone for the whole rest of the book.  Dr. Moore is the Academic Dean, and Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew here at Trinity School for Ministry. The second sermon was on John 4, and was given by Bishop Grant LeMarquand.  He challenges the common theological emphasis put onto the end of the chapter, by encouraging us to look more closely at Jesus' words: "I am doing the will of my Father who sent me."  In doing so, we take the focus off of ourselves and are able to observe more clearly the works of our Savior: the Prince of Peace.  The Rt. Rev. Dr. Grant LeMarquand is a Co-Director of the Stanway Institute for World Mission and Evangelism, and Professor of New Testament here at Trinity School for Ministry.New episodes every Monday. If you want  to support Trinity School for Ministry, and pick up some tasteful Trinity logo merchandise at the same time, head over to our new online store at:  https://www.thetrinitystore.org/en/usd
This week we continue on through Mary M. MacGregor's 2003 January Interterm seminar, by listening to the second lecture in the series.  Mary talks at length about the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of specifically women in the church, and looks at how God, through the church—as the body of Christ, meets those needs.  She closes with a meditation on Psalm 69.Our InterTerms occur every January and June at the Ambridge campus.  More details about the upcoming January InterTerm will be available on our website (www.tsm.edu) soon!New episodes every Monday. If you want  to support Trinity School for Ministry, and pick up some tasteful Trinity logo merchandise at the same time, head over to our new online store at:  https://www.thetrinitystore.org/en/usd
This week we begin a series from our tape archives titled:  "Hungry Hearts—A Fresh Look at Equipping Women for Ministry,"  given as a part of the January InterTerm of 2003 by Mary M. MacGregor.  Mary begins her study of raising up women for ministry by doing a character study on the "Godly women mentors" who came alongside each person in the audience at critical points in their lives.  After that she gives her own backstory and testifies to Gods amazing ability to create new life inside us.  She finishes by involving the audience in a discussion about generational dis-unity and how to repair those divides within the church. Dr. John Behr.   Throughout the interview, Dr. Behr reminds the listener of our place as creatures before God in his created order by examining scripture, nature, and societal trends.  When all said and done, it was a conversation worth having over and over between God's people especially now in the 21st century. You can find the first of the four Oden Lectures given by the Very Rev. Dr. John Behr on our YouTube page here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4TsxsQ29FcNew Episodes every Monday.
