Birgitta von Dresky is a corporate/commercial lawyer based in Singapore. She is originally from Bonn, Germany, where she also studied law. Before moving to Asia, she worked in Germany as an in-house lawyer for two well-known companies in the chemical/cosmetics industry, namely, Sasol and L’Oréal. Since 2003, Birgitta has been based in Singapore, working in private practice as a lawyer for internationally operating, multidisciplinary German law firms, and since 2008 as a partner at Luther LLP. My name is Hedwig van der Laan -  I live in Zeist, The Netherlands with my husband and our 2 cats. We have 3 grown up children who have just started working or are still studying.I started StudioHedwig in 2016, after crocheting and knitting a series of pillows and throws for ourselves. I enjoyed doing that so much that I also wanted to make interior accessories for others. I crochet and knit my home deco on request and since 2019 I also make knitting and crochet patterns. I was educated as a teacher in chemistry and biology. During my work as an R&D project manager, I studied business and law. Later I managed to get a degree in fashion design (coutier).The yarns I work with are sustainable, natural and mostly recycled. The usage of new cotton requires tons of water, pesticides and colorants, whereas recycled cotton does not. If I work with wool, animal welfare is very important for me. The designs I make are timeless and the products last a long time. There is no stock of products in my studio. I create on demand to avoid spillage of products and also to be able to make my products as customized as possible. With my choice for yarns with a sustainable origin I hope to make a small contribution to a better world and to inspire other people.Knitting, crocheting and making clothes has been my great passion from an early age. Until January 1st 2023 I combined working at a consultancy agent with StudioHedwig, but now I am lucky to focus on my craft business only. I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at the School of Business at Farmingdale State College (SUNY). I received my PhD in Economics from Fordham University. My research interests lie at the intersection of international trade and development and my research agenda is twofold – one, I am interested in looking at the impact of international trade policies on developing and least developed countries. And two, knowing that even the most development friendly trade policies have to be backed by a robust domestic infrastructure, I investigate the impact of various capacity constraints on firms’ performance, again in the context of developing and least developed countries. I have taught undergraduate economics for several years at Fordham and continue to do so at Farmingdale. Teaching across multiple modalities (in person and online synchronous and asynchronous), encouraging active learning, student engagement and connecting economic theory to its real world applications are the guiding principles of my teaching practice. I also volunteer as a co-lead organizer of the mentoring program for Trade Experettes called the Mentorettes. My full name is Miracle Onyenadum Ugweje, however I like to be called Mimi. I am currently a college student at CUNY Lehman College. I love being curious and delving into the things I am curious about, the best way I have found that I do this is through writing.  Although I have always loved writing, recently I have found a new love of critical analysis and storytelling. There are things I feel a strong urge to criticize. I have written many things over the years as a growing writer, from personal poems and short stories to college analytical and academic essays.  Two of my proudest literary feats are writing the lead stories for the EDsnaps e-magazine and a short play I wrote for my screenwriting class in my sophomore year of college. It's called How a Negress Kills. Although I wrote the short play from a creative structure I am proud to say that there are aspects of the character that can be viewed through a critical analysis lens.
