Sports broadcaster and play-by-play announcer Kate Scott joins the show to talk about the opportunity to call her first NHL game as part of the all-female crew for the St Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks matchup on March 8th. Kate gives us some background as to how she got into play-by-play and how her love for hockey started young. Mike and Jackie get chills reliving Bobby Ryan’s hat trick return to the Ottawa Senators. They close out the show with some interesting tips on how to avoid contracting the coronavirus.
Jackie Redmond and Stu Grimson welcome ESPN's John Buccigross to the pod for an extended conversation on all the NHL Trade Deadline moves, John shares his thoughts on the Maple Leafs struggles, Joe Thornton staying put in San Jose, the EBUG rule, Ken Holland's plan in Edmonton, Colorado's need for a goalie, and how he keeps up with all the NHL action on a regular basis (10:00). Jackie wonders if Elvis Merzlikins has catapulted himself into the Calder Trophy conversation, and Ryan chimes in on the Battle of Alberta as he reminisces about some of the more heated rivalries that he was involved in as a player (12:00). Jackie Redmond and Mike Rupp have some fun with a holiday/hockey Mad Lib session, they debate the impact Taylor Hall will have on the Arizona Coyotes and Rupp shares a classic Lou Lamoriello story and tells us of a time his Rangers teammates joined forces with James Dolan to annoy John Tortorella (2:00). ESPN's Linda Cohn hops on the line to talk about what she'd like to see happen with Henrik Lundqvist, the one player that makes her nervous, her biggest disappointment of the season, and why she hasn't strapped on her goalie pads in a while (27:00).
