Description

School on Wheels is proud to bring you a brand new podcast about tutoring, homelessness, and the experiences of our volunteers, staff, and students. School on Wheels is a nonprofit that provides free school supplies, tutoring, and mentoring to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade living in shelters, motels, group foster homes, and vehicles, as well as on the street, in Southern California. Our volunteer tutors are truly the heart of our program and services, providing tens of thousands of hours of tutoring to thousands of children and teens experiencing homelessness each year. We love our tutors, and we work hard to support them in carrying out our mission. In this podcast, you will have a chance to hear the stories of tutors who have overcome challenges with their students. You will hear interviews with experts on education, child development, and homelessness. You will hear sound bites from some of our students. Hopefully, you will hear something that helps or inspires you.

In this episode, John talks about his journey to tutoring online, living history, and teaching students to question everything, among other things. Hold onto your seats, this one's a wild ride! Note: the audio quality is a bit rough in this one. The interviews are recorded over wifi, which we can all agree is temperamental at times.
