You are listening to the RN Professions Podcast episode number 15. It is 2020 Year of the Nurse, and this day marks the beginning of National Nurses Week and nurses You are worth celebrating. I know that it's rough out there for so many of you right now. I've been searching for the time and the quiet to work on the podcast have been trying to come up with an appropriate way to transition back into interviews and production. But I'll be honest with you have been struggling quite a bit. We're about eight weeks into sheltering in place during this COVID 19 quarantine. We've had two birthdays and her home so far. I'm lucky enough to still have my job. So I've been working from home since the beginning of March. I have also been teaching third grade, first grade and kindergarten. It's been messy, and it's been frustrating and wonderful and hysterical. It's an immensely heavy time, and I know that some of you are depressed and lonely and scared and confused and angry. I wrote an article on my personal blog, "What You Need to Know About the Worst Pandemic in the History of the World," and it's actually not about the Corona virus. I wanted to focus on spiritual wellness, so I wrote this article with the broken in mind. For me, writing is therapy, and I needed to work through the process to get from fear to hope. And if you're feeling anxious or defeated, I hope you'll take a minute to read it. I'll post it for you in the show notes, or you can find it at AlliMerrell.com/Blog. This is a new season. We're literally living in a different world than we were when I published Episode #14. We're different people. We have different priorities. Our lives have been severely altered. And even in the midst of a global crisis, Cat Golden and her team have been thriving. Cat is the Nurse Whisperer and founder of the Nurses Inspired Nurses Movement. We actually recorded this episode prior to the Covid 19 outbreak, but I reached out to Cat recently to see how they've been affected. And I'm so happy to share with you that during this global crisis she has hired two new team members, shipped out 50,000 of her nurse's inspire nurses classic teas two nurses nationwide and is wrapping up a project of fulfilling nearly 2000 nurse care packages. Cat truly is a ray of sunshine and so inspiring and full of energy. So I thought this would be the perfect episode to share with you guys during National Nurses Week. So I hope you enjoy this episode with Cat Golden of Nine Lives Health & Mind.
In today's episode I'm going to share with you a bit more about me and talk a little about personal values, prioritization and resiliency. For those of you that know me you know that I am a huge fan of the personal development movement. I read the books and listen to the podcasts and am really doing my best to incorporate what I'm learning with my personal and family health as well as in my professional life as a nurse educator. And the learning never stops. There is always something that I can improve upon, and I definitely go through phases and ups and down's, but for the most part I am generally focused on an overall sense of progression toward my ideal. And, if you're listening to this podcast right now, I assume that of you as well.
