On this week's episode of the Downtown Pulse, we talk with Jim Cowan, Chariman of CowanPerry PC. Casey and Jim discuss and review the ways in which CowanPerry is helping the small business community navigate the uncharted waters of COVID-19. Listen in to this fascinating discussion about how CowanPerry has pivoted, reacted, and remained at the ready to serve the business community of the New River Valley. Most certainly one of the more educational ones and small biz should know all the great services that CowanPerry can provide from a legal standpoint. 
On this week's episode, we speak with Chris Nicholson, Technician and Manager of Energy Check. Chris gives us some great suggestions and tips on making our homes more energy efficient. We discuss many different topics in this episode of The Downtown Pulse that will really make you question your own home's efficiency. From air-tightness to air quality we dive deep into things that you may be noticing now as you likely are in your house more often as of late.  Additionally, we touch on how Energy Check has pivoted and reacted to COVID-19 in the past few months. 
This week we speak to Main Street Pharmacy and find out some great information about how they are going above and beyond the call of duty to care for their patients and customers at Main Street Pharmacy. Jeremy Counts, second generation pharmacy owner, describes how Main St. Pharmay is a true local, community player in addition to the health services the pharmacy offers. 
This week we speak with Ethan Luke Thompson, Director of Marketing for Real Life Dental and Real Life Smiles in Downtown Blacksburg. In this podcast he discusses how the dentist office continues to reassure patients as they implement additional safeguards in the office, including free hand sanitizer to patients. Ethan discusses and reviews the precautions and steps that are being taken to keep patients safe. Additionally, Ethan discusses a free marketing video series he has generously offered for free to DBI members, detailing tips and strategies to market your businesses during this pandemic. Lastly and most importantly, Ethan discusses a "prescription for happiness" and reflects on how we can all take a step back and take moments to ourselves to encourage well-being and self-care. Almost like self-care oral hygiene but for the brain and mind! This podcast is a great listen. Enjoy! 
In this week's episode of The Downtown Pulse, we speak with Susan Mattingly, Executive Director of The Lyric Theatre in Downtown Blacksburg. The Lyric, also known as the Heart of Downtown Blacksburg, provides the community a variety of entertainment including movies, plays and concerts. During the novel health pandemic, the Lyric has temporarily shut its doors but has implemented some creative strategies to continue to engage with the Blacksburg community. Listen in as Susan speaks about some of the ways the Lyric has pivoted over the past couple months while still serving a crucial role to engage the downtown community. 
In this week's episode we speak to Daniel Riley, owner of the Blacksburg Tavern. He tells us a bit of the history of The Blacksburg Tavern, and how the Tavern has become known as a place of heritage and tradition in Downtown Blacksburg. We also learn about the challenges the restaurant has faced as a dining establishment during this difficult time and how they have pivoted to maintain their illustrious legacy and continue to serve up delicious family-style meals. 
In this week's episode of the Downtown Pulse, Casey speaks with Mary Katherine, co-owner of the local franchise, Blacksburg Fit Body Bootcamp. This episode reveals how the gym is re-inventing the studio in order to still reach their clients and members virtually.  Additionally, we talk about the importance of health and fitness and its correlation to mental health, especially now during this health crisis. 
In this episode, Casey Jenkins speaks with Josh Roseberry, General Manager of Clay Corner Inn, located in the historic 16 blocks of Downtown Blacksburg. As GM of Clay Corner Inn, Josh reveals some of the challenges that he is facing as the lodging industry attempts to pivot during this novel pandemic. In addition, Clay Corner Inn demonstrates why they remain a historic staple to Downtown and continue to operate as a work family during these hard times. 
This week we talk to New River Art and Fiber owner Jessica Jones. Jessica talks to us a bit about New River Art and Fiber's history, and what they are doing to adapt their business model to the changing times.
