Description

Right now, hundreds of chemicals racing through each of our bodies (in our bloodstream and nervous system), dictate how we think feel, speak and behave. Most of us operate largely at the mercy of those chemicals without realizing that we can strategically influence them so that we can achieve more, stress less and live and work more happily. Physical Intelligence is the ability to detect and actively manage the balance of certain key chemicals through the use of hundreds of techniques -- ways of breathing, moving, thinking and communicating. Based on extensive neuroscientific research and our own clients' results, we know that Physical Intelligence doesn't just sit alongside but underpins cognitive and emotional intelligence. This podcast examines the business impact of Physical Intelligence at the individual, team, and organizational level and includes easy to use techniques you can use yourself and with your teams. For more information, visit www.companiesinmotion.com or contact us at info@companiesinmotion.com.

In this episode, we explore the intersection of soccer, leadership, the ethics of political communication -- and Physical Intelligence. (Yes -- They are all interrelated!)  Our guest for this episode is Peter Loge, an associate professor in the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University, director of the Project on Ethics in Political Communication, a strategic consultant, and author of Soccer Thinking for Management Success, as well as a second book on the ethics of political communication. As Peter writes, “success is no longer football, with its series of discreet plays and fixed roles... Organizational success requires real-time decision making, independent action and systems thinking. Organizational success is now soccer." That was written pre-COVID and is even more true today as organizations navigate the challenges of the hybrid work environment, as is leveraging Physical Intelligence to drive performance for leaders and their teams. We discuss how Peter has brought the lessons he has learned through soccer and the ethics of political communication into his roles as a professor and consultant, as well as the importance of Physical Intelligence in today's world and the impact Physical Intelligence concepts have had in Peter's life and those of his clients and students.
Craig Vachon is an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, private equity investor, novelist -- a modern day Renaissance man.  He is particularly interested in supporting start-ups that are working to make the world a better place, many of them tech start-ups. In this podcast, we talk with Craig about the unique challenges facing start-up organizations, the role the technology industry plays in our privacy, the ethics surrounding that, and how it is impacting society.  We also explore the role Physical Intelligence can play in dealing with all of those situations. We close by discussing the need for global re-education – i.e. that physical, mental and emotional aspects of being human are intrinsically linked, not separate – that every thought is a chemical with an emotional charge – and the impact that can/should have on the evolution of humanity.Regardless of your role, this is a fascinating and relevant discussion about the how Physical Intelligence and ethical communication and use of technology can shape the future.

We at Companies in Motion believe that ultimately, post pandemic, organisations will be forced to acknowledge something that we have long believed…that people – human beings  – are our most precious business resources.  To quote a recent McKinsey report, “forward-looking companies know that everything else—such as technology, access to raw materials, intellectual property, and customer relationships— is fleeting and the only sustainable advantage is rooted in harnessing the passion, skills, capabilities, judgment, and creativity that people bring to work.” Physical Intelligence unlocks that sustainable advantage. For too long, many organisations have paid lip service to putting ‘people at the center’ of their strategy. Even worse - much that is being written about the future of organisations is still focusing on law, regulation, ownership, governance, measurement and pre-pandemic descriptions of performance – with little mention of human beings – or if mentioned, employees are referred to as human capital…but we are…all of us…flesh and bone, bodies and brains, hearts and minds. The time has come to enable the full potential of everyone working in our organisations – whether office based or working remotely. Organisations need people who can achieve more and people want to stress less and live and work more happily. Whether you’re reading a report by McKinsey or Deloitte or an article in the Economist or the NY Times, the message is consistent – people want – and need – more flexibility and more support. In this conversation with Jarrod Barnes, Manager of Former Player Marketing and Services for the Los Angeles Rams, (and a former Ohio State Safety and Detroit Lions Defensive Back), we learn how one NFL team is providing an extraordinary level of support for not only its current employees, but former employees as well.  This podcast shares interesting lessons from the NFL that leaders in all industries can leverage about how the workplace of tomorrow can work with rather than against the human system...powering all team members to sustain peak performance.
Even before the current crisis, we have been navigating a period of unprecedented change. Leaders have been and will continue to be at the forefront of that effort. It is anticipated that responding to crises, rather than being something that happens once a decade or less, will become more commonplace. What does this mean for how we prepare tomorrow's leaders? In this episode, Claire and Pat speak with Julia Colin, Head of Talent at BAE Systems, and Helen Cresswell, a Leadership consultant & Transpersonal Coach who have been been working together for two years creating and delivering Talent & Learning initiatives for BAE's leadership community, with a specific focus on high potential future leaders.
