Phileo love is brotherly love. It refers to affectionate, warm, tender platonic love. It fuels the desire for friendship with someone on a deeper level.  Scripture References:1 Samuel 18:1, 3John 11John 21:15-171 Peter 1:221 Peter 3:8"Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art, like the universe itself… It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival." ~ C.S. The Greek lexicon defines [στοργή] Storge {Stor/gay} as ‘affection, especially of parents to offspring’. Storge is a broadly defined love that can apply to family members, friends, pets and owners, companions, or colleagues; it can also combine with and help reinforce other types of love such as passionate love or friendship. Such as a friendship that grows into romantic love. Storge may also be used as a general term to describe the love between exceptional friends, and the desire for them to care compassionately for one anotherScripture References:Exodus 20:12Mark 10:29Luke 9:59-60Luke 12:51-53Romans 1:31 & 12:102 Timothy 3:3Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. It should be our utmost desire to love the Lord who, according to Rom. 8:32, did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all.  Scripture Reference:Matthew 22:34-401 John 4"Whatever a person may be like, we must still love them because we love God."- John CalvinInstacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. What is an ambassador? An ambassador represents and communicates the desires and will of the head of state they represent. Whether its a president, king, queen, emperor or dictator. We also are called to represent the government of our sovereign King and Lord Jesus. As Christians, we do not only proclaim the desires and will of Christ to others but we are to demonstrate the life of someone who maintains allegiance to the King.Scripture References:2 Corinthians 5:102 Corinthians 5:14-152 Corinthians 5:20Hebrews 10:31Isaiah 29:13Proverbs 28:26"Diplomacy is the art of restraining power."Henry Kissinger Former US Secretary of State & National Security AdvisorInstacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. A warrior would not be a warrior without a weapon. Just as a teacher is not a teacher without students, and a chef is not a chef without food to prepare. It's foolish and dangerous to enter into combat with just armor and a shield. These are purely protective defensive components. It's the weapon that provides the ability to take the fight to the enemy and drive them back. It's called the "the sword of the Spirit" because it is not carnal, but of a spiritual nature; and can only be wielded by the spiritual man who God has chosen to understand by opening their eyes by His Holy Spirit.Because God first loved us; He has presented a way to Jesus, for us to know the truth about Jesus, in a life found in Jesus Christ alone.Scripture References:Romans 13:14Ephesians 6:17Hebrews 4:12Deuteronomy 30:6James 1:23-25"In opposition... to all the suggestions of the devil, the sole, simple, and sufficient answer is the word of God. This puts to flight all the powers of darkness. The Christian finds this to be true in his individual experience. It dissipates his doubts; it drives away his fears; it delivers him from the power of Satan." ~ Charles Hodge, Professor of Biblical Literature at Princeton Theological Seminary. Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. This shield that Paul’s comparison speaks about was not a small disc but a large, body-length shield called a scuta [skyoo-tah], these were large rectangular shields used by the foot soldiers of the Roman Empire to great effect. Their concave nature offered substantial protection allowing a Roman soldier to shelter his entire body. The Roman soldier’s shield was so huge that his entire body could be concealed behind it. God has given us such a shield, in fact, this shield is so massive it can shield your entire life. When you act in faith based on what God has said in His word, overriding your feelings and even overriding perceived facts, then you have taken up the shield of faith.Scripture References:Ephesians 6:16Hebrews 111 John 5:4Galatians 5:6John 1:12-13Romans 10:17 Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him."God often reinforces our faith after we trust him, not before"- Ravi ZachariasInstacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. We need daily to place our identity in Christ and rely upon His works, not our own works lest we fall into the trap of thinking of ourselves more highly than we ought to, and remember that without Jesus we have no armor to protect us, we have no reconciliation with God and we have no hope for salvation. The gospel of peace outfitted on our feet also allows us to traverse the battlefield to move swiftly as messengers to all who are lost and consigned to disobedience as it is written in Romans 11:32, to deliver the news of Christ and Him crucified and the resurrected Christ who is to come; a message of hope, a message of salvation, a message of love.Scripture References:Ephesians 6:11Ephesians 6:15Romans 5:1John 14:27Isaiah 55:11Romans 11:32STAND FIRM -Exodus 14:13, And Moses said to the people, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. 2 Chronicles 20:17, You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf. Daniel 11:32 but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action., 1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 2 Corinthians 1:24b, for in your faith you are standing firm. Galatians 5:1b; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Truth is who God reveals Himself to be and what He has said about who he was, who He is now, and who He will be when He returns, which is best summed up for us within the Person and works of Jesus Christ. Without unyielding devotion and acceptance of the truth—God's truth—the truth found in all 66 books of the Bible, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 you will be walking in your faith with an unbuckled belt, distracted by the other pieces of armor fluttering and swinging around unsecured rather than being protected by them."Where I found truth, there found I my God, who is the truth itself."- AugustineInstacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Our righteousness is not from anything we produce. It is through the perfect works of Christ. Our sin was imputed to Him and His righteousness imputed onto us through his crucifixion and resurrection. So, righteousness begins and ends with God. It is not something we can summon up ourselves. The mind is the active manifestation of the soul to the brain, meaning, if your thoughts are corrupt and wicked then you will bring forth corruption and wickedness. The helmet of salvation defends your mind from the attacks of the adversary and equips you to achieve victory every day. Remember that the battle always happens in your mind before it happens in your visible life.Scripture References:Ephesians 6:17Isaiah 59:17Proverbs 23:71 Thessalonians 5:82 Corinthians 10:5"Salvation must be our helmet. A good hope of salvation, a Scriptural expectation of victory, will purify the soul, and keep it from being defiled by Satan." ~ Matthew HenryInstacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Throughout this series, we have examined the many disguises that anger may use to fuel itself to grievously sinful proportions. So how can we be angry but not sin? Part 6 is the series conclusion and examines anger that is commonly called "righteous indignation" - anger that is in alignment with what God says we should be angry about.Scripture References:Ephesians 4:261 Corinthians 13:5Proverbs 10:121 Peter 4:8Agápe (ἀγάπη agápē[1]) means "love: esp. charity; the love of God for man and of man for a good God." Agape is used by Christians to express the unconditional love of God for his children."Love, or charity, is contrary to all sinful anger, as, in its fruits, it is contrary to selfishness. It is because men are selfish and seek their own, that they are malicious and revengeful against all that oppose or interfere with their own interests. If men sought not chiefly their own private and selfish interests, but the glory of God and the common good, then their spirit would be a great deal more stirred up in God’s cause than in their own; and they would not be prone to hasty, rash, inconsiderate, immoderate, and long-continued wrath, with any who might have injured or provoked them; but they would in a great measure forget themselves for God’s sake, and from their zeal for the honor of Christ. The end they would aim at, would be, not making themselves great, or getting their own will, but the glory of God and the good of their fellow-beings."  Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758)Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Contact InformationThe world has enough difficulties and pain to fill our remaining years, but what about the suffering Christian who isn’t just tormented by experiences from outside…but also from within? When we ignore regular scripture reading, when we disregard consistent prayer, when we concede to Self Hate we do the devil’s work for him.Scripture References(Colossians 3:5) Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry of the flesh (1 John 2:16-17) For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.(Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.(Romans 12:2) Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Recognizing each of the faces of anger helps to not only dig at the roots of where it lays buried but it allows us to remove the fuel that enflames our anger to more damaging levels.Bitterness is a consequence of a heart that won’t forgive. As followers of Christ, this is where the rubber meets the road. It is the absence of forgiveness that precedes bitterness. The gospel of grace is the only source for true joy and breaking free from bitterness. When we extend it to the very people we’re least willing to love the very people who least deserve it, we will discover the cure for this cancer of the soul.  The remedy for bitterness fueled anger is not encountered in delivering cruelty, but by delivering undeserved grace—just as God in Christ Jesus has done for us when we were least deserving of it.   Scripture ReferencesHebrews 12:15Matthew 5:45Romans 8:28Romans 12:19-21JonahCONTACT INFORMATIONInstacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. "The angry man is a sad man. He is also a reckless man. But did you know the angry man is probably a scared man too? Most sinful anger is born out of insecurity. He is fearful he is not going to get what he wants, so he uses anger as a manipulative means to make sure his craving heart is satisfied. If you ever tried to rely on yourself rather than the Lord, you know how hard it is to be the functional god of your life (2 Corinthians 1:8-9). You cannot do God’s job. You cannot control all outcomes, which is why anger becomes a “go to” tool in the arsenal of the weak individual." ~ Rick Thomas, Biblical Counseling Coalition"The anger of man and the anger of God takes Jesus to the cross." ~ Paul David TrippContact: https://allmylinks.com/voxluminisScripture ReferencesPhilippians 2:7-8Philippians 4:8Jeremiah 17:9Galatians 5:17Psalm 18:2Colossians 3:2Hebrews 12:2Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Anger + Pride is the formula that caused Lucifer to be expelled and cast out of heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ observed in Luke 10:18 "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."This formula is just as lethal for mankind. As long as you are proud you cannot know God. It’s the failure to contain that anger which can lead to problems in every aspect of your life."If we would be angry and not sin (says one), we must be angry at nothing but sin; and we should be more jealous for the glory of God than for any interest or reputation of our own."- Matthew HenryContact: https://allmylinks.com/voxluminisScripture ReferencesGenesis 32 Timothy 2:23-25James 1:19Ecclesiastes 7:91 John 1:91 Corinthians 12:14Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Part 4 concludes this devotional series on God's plan and purpose for sexual intercourse in the lives of His people. This episode examines how our thoughts affect us in our struggle with temptation. How the spiritual warfare we wage living in this corrupted world along with the sinful nature of our own flesh are all against us. Encouragement and strategies are discussed to move forward led by His Spirit, His strength, and encouragement from His inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word. Pastor John Piper in a 1981 sermon on sex and the single person:“Sexual pleasure belongs rightfully only to believers. All others are thieves and robbers. Don’t ever let the world deceive you into thinking that we Christians are trying to borrow and purify a limited amount of the world’s pleasure. God created sexual pleasure for his subjects alone, and the world has rebelled against Him and stolen His gifts and corrupted them and debased them and turned them into weapons of destruction and laughed at those who remain faithful to the King and use his gifts according to his word. But we will not be deceived. The gift is ours, and we will consecrate it, that is, we will keep it pure, as Paul says in verse 5, “by the word of God and prayer.” [1 Timothy 4:5]Contact: https://allmylinks.com/voxluminisScripture References:1 Corinthians 1:131 John 5:19John 12:31Galatians 5:17Psalm 2:11Psalm 119:37Proverbs 4:23 Philippians 4:8Proverbs 27:17James 4:2-3Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. The gift of sex is by God's design. Sex was and is God’s intention to be a life-long celebration of love. To misuse this gift is to disrespect and dishonor the gift giver. But what about Christian liberty? How do I resist the flood of sexual temptation all around me? How do I keep my way pure?Part 3 exposes the naked truth of God's perspective on sex.If this podcast has been a blessing please share Full Frontal Faith with others.Contact: https://allmylinks.com/voxluminisScripture References:Proverbs 5:18Genesis 2:181 Corinthians 6:13-191 Corinthians 7:2 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8Psalm 119:9-11Hebrews 4:12Romans 6:12-14Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour.
