BACKGROUND: Max Stevens has been involved in sports journalism, broadcasting and sports management for his working life. His first involvement with an Olympic Games was Moscow in 1980. He's worked for the Seven and Ten Networks, covered AFL for decades, managed leading AFL players & other athletes, he's been employed in the High-Performance Unit with Cycling Australia, championship event management along with working for state and local governments. Max crafted his skills on the radio. He's been contracted by numerous radio networks around Australia. His first appearance on radio was back in the seventies with Geelong's 3GL on the AM band. FM was on the verge of being a reality in this country. Gradually, he worked his way to the FM market. These days he's a Regional Field Officer.

He travelled up and back to goal umpire training in Adelaide a few times each week.  He's been associated with the AFL for many, many seasons. But why goal umpiring for a young man. Peter Malinauskas, the leader of the State Labor Party joins us for this podcast chat. Peter looks at his life from working at Woolies to holidaying on the Yorke Peninsula. He played football for the Adelaide University Blacks. But he says he's hopeful his playing days aren't behind him. He wants to play 200 senior games for the club, time may be running against him though. Peter Malinauskas is as honest and frank as they come in this one on one podcast.  
Port Adelaide big man Scott Lycett is our guest. A premiership player with the West Coast, Scott knows what he wants and what it takes. Before heading to the West, Scott played for the Port Magpies and won a Premiership in the seconds. . At the time this interview was conducted Scott had played more than 120 AFL  games. We take a look at his career and coming back to the Club he is very proud of, Port Adelaide.

He's the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing. Corey Wingard loves his sport, despite being  the boss of Infrastructure and Transport. He loves roads too. From the small screen to Parliament House we discuss it all. His great love is football. In fact he worked for the SANFL and started his working career at Marion selling sports shoes including footy boots. What's the Premier like? Corey Wingard was elected to the South Australian Parliament as the Member for Mitchell in March 2014. He was re-elected in 2018 to represent the new electorate of Gibson.

Everywhere around the Yorke Peninsula you can find a park run. Some are better know than others.  Port Broughton 's run is well known for example. Now there's a park run near Kadina. 'The Copper Trail Parkrun' is held every Saturday at 8am. And it caters for everyone & style of runner, says event organiser Gerry van Kiekerk. The Bute Football Club has a new senior coach. Matthew Rose takes the helm from Chad Bourke. Rose has been involved with Bute for years, now it's the senior coaching job. How will be go? You be the judge.  Gary Wehr  will be his assistant and both guys are ready for what's ahead.   
Matthew Goldsworthy has been at Woodville - West Torrens in the SANFL for a very long time. He’s the Club’s Football Manager and has played more than 200 senior games for the Eagles. He knows the Club on Oval Avenue very well. Recruited from the CMS Crows on the Yorke Peninsula, Matthew has played as a small forward and in defence and won the big prize. His life has been dedicated to playing football, but was cricket ever a serious option? He played in his first premiership at SANFL level in 2011. At the time we reordered this interview Matt was 29, a veteran of the club playing is yet another finals campaign for Woodville – West Torrens.         
Today we hit the netball circuit in this podcast and speak with a mother and son combination. They are netball gurus when it comes to umpiring at a high level. Emma and Lucas Gulin are well known netball umpires. But what creates more interest is the fact that Lucas is just 14 years of age. He has the ability to go all the way and represent his country as a netball umpire. He’s well on the right path thanks to his mum. Remember, when we conducted this interview at Crystal Brook, some 80 plus Ks away from Kadina on the Yorke Peninsula, he was just 14 years old.     
How important is volunteering, how would we get by without our volunteers. The volunteer is the back bone of any association. Ask anyone, no volunteers, no association. SA Ambulance, is on a recruitment drive. Daniel Kenny from the service is our guest, he tells us about volunteering for SA Ambulance on the YP.  What does it take, what's expected? Daniel, a Team Leader, explains.

Bob Scott is a member of the Bute Bowling club. He's the reigning Men's Country Carnival Player of the year. To say he's a country legend of the sport in South Australia isn't over rating him. Bob has played on most rinks around the Yorke Peninsula. He's been invited to join clubs in Adelaide, but he says, a firm thanks but NO thanks. He started his bowling career in Kimba, the former school Principal loves the game and apart from his family, bowls is number one. In this podcast we look at the game of bowls and try to cover everything including natural grass versus artificial turf.

This is what sport is all about. Having a crack as Hugo Taheny puts it. In this podcast we talk with champion field athlete Hugo Taheny from Point Turton. The Down Syndrome 20 year old is the backbone of the local community. I doesn't matter where you go on the Yorke Peninsula everyone knows Hugo Rockstar, a self appointed nickname, I might add. He's an ambassador for Down Syndrome and speaks around the country.  This bloke is as honest as the day is long. His Mum and Dad (Louise & John) deserve a massive pat on the back. They have given him every opportunity along with his siblings. Hugo offers so much to everyone he meets, he has that infective nature. But what he loves most of all is throwing a shot-put or discuss, even the javelin. He's a master of them all.  Before this interview Hugo spent a week in Royal Adelaide Hospital with a mystery illness. He's fine now and back training.
