In today's episode, we feature attorney, activist, and author, Robyn Gigl as we dissect the intersection between race, sexuality, and civil rights within today's society. Robyn Gigl is a trans-woman who has been honored by the ACLU-NJ and the NJ Pride Network for her work on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community. Robyn has been practicing law for more than 40 years, representing clients in state and federal courts, and has been appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the Court’s Committee on Diversity Inclusion and Community Engagement. She is also active in the New Jersey State Bar Association where she is a member of the Diversity Committee, the Women in the Profession Section, and a Past Chair of the Bar’s LGBT Rights Section. Robyn is a member of the Board of Directors of Garden State Equality, NJ’s largest LGBTQ+ Civil Rights Organization, and lectures frequently on diversity issues, particularly on LGBTQ+ issues in the workplace and schools. As we celebrate PRIDE throughout June and hopefully beyond, this episode reflects on many of the issues and struggles faced by the trans community. It was an absolute pleasure chatting with Robyn and be sure to look for her book BY WAY OF SORROW, (Hardcover / March 31st, 2021), Gigl’s debut legal thriller, and an #OwnVoices novel. As always if you know someone who would be a great fit for our podcast, please direct them to email us at fuelingherpodcast@gmail.com. This episode wraps up Season 2. Sometimes there is so much that we as women may not know about "women's health". Society has normalized so much and so much more continues to be seen as taboo. Issues with urinary and fecal incontinence, issues with pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse and sexual dysfunction. Along with a pelvic floor physical therapist, a urogynecologist is a great asset. A urogynecologist is definitely not just a regular GYN but an advanced specialist in the field of gynecology. Listen as I am joined by my colleague, Dr. F Stephen Tugbiyele, a urogynecologist here in the Atlanta metro area, at Advanced Gynecology.
