Listen in as my guest, Briana Borten, and I jam on the practice of energy alchemy. In this episode, we riff on… What energy medicine is, and how Briana has cultivated her skill over decades. Integrity in energy work, and how to know if a training is in-depth enough to be effective, and even safe What to look for in a practitioner of energy work, how to prepare yourself to receive it deeply and effectively, and what not to do as a recipient. Bringing you solo episode musings on how we can cultivate deep resonance with our work – both within ourselves and with others. In this episode, I riff on… How terrifying it can be to bring through and share our deepest work, especially in a death-phobic “culture” that avoids feeling the depths of our terror Making the profound shift from relating to your work as a gambler playing slot machines, to relating as a gardener tending a garden Why conventional marketing does not work (on so many levels) for folks whose work takes people into the depths The intricate and incorruptible relationship between bringing forward your deepest work, and relating to your work on a deep level (and how to cultivate that good-relating)   You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep21 ––– RESOURCES + LINKS: Join our NEW offering, DEVOTED - A 6 Week Journey to Unearth + Birth Your Deepest Work, here: nishamoodley.com/devoted/  Nisha mentions her dear mentor, Hiro Boga, who you can find here: hiroboga.com/  ––– IF YOU ENJOY DEVOTION PODCAST… We would love for you to rate and review it!  This helps more people find it and give it a chance. Bringing you solo episode musings on how we can drop the ball with intention and care, when we’re juggling too much to actually hold. How I manage my own “productivity dysmorphia”, so I don’t constantly set myself up to feel like a failure The cultural imperative to be honest with ourselves and others about our capacity, and the leadership edge of expanding tolerance to be judged and disliked in the process Conscientiously creating space for grief and sadness The actual agreements I make with clients now, that allow us all to be more human You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep20 ––– RESOURCES + LINKS: Sign up for Nisha’s free workshop: LEAD - Embrace Your Fullest Self + Offer Your Deepest Gifts nishamoodley.com/lead/ Nisha mentions Episode 6, where she shares the story of her dad’s death. It’s easy to wax poetic about being anti-hustle culture, but HOW do we actually build & tend (and re-build), without burning the candle at both ends, and burning out?   In this conversation with my dear friend, Jadah Sellner, we discuss: Jadah’s distinction between “harmonious passion” and “obsessive passion”, and how passionate people can use compassionate scheduling to dodge the trap of workaholism (and using work to avoid life) How creating sanctuary spaces to work from has shifted both of our work-life harmony “Intentional Trade-offs”, and how we can cultivate the clarity and courage to know what opportunities to say no to, even when it doesn’t make logical sense The importance of both Product-Market fit AND Product-Maker fit, in the path of discerning what’s ours to do Pivoting, and how we can lead with love and leave with love You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep19 ––– RESOURCES + LINKS: Check out Jadah’s new book, She Builds, and find her on Instagram here. You can check it out at DevotionalLeadership.com Throughout the last several months on break from the podcast, I’ve been exploring the complexity of consistency – the beauty of it and the toxic aspects of our demands for it.  This week’s podcast episode is an exploration on consistency, and how to commit to being consistent where it counts...  In this episode, I share: My practice for choosing which balls to drop (aka Why I Suck At Email) What the archetypal Maiden-Mother-Crone journey has to do with our interrogation of consistency, and how to tap into the wisdom of the ages How to choose your priorities, not from the mind, but from your body and values My favorite tool for getting all the things in my head, out, so I can discern where my attention is really needed  You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep17 ––– RESOURCES + LINKS: Check out our 11th annual 9 month council, for 12 brilliant women: DevotionalLeadership.com   Meditation to connect with your Wise Future Self: NishaMoodley.com/join ––– IF YOU ENJOY DEVOTION PODCAST… We would love for you to rate and review it!  This helps more people find it and give it a chance. I don’t know about you, but the pandemic has brought me a huge opportunity to explore my ambitions on a deeper level…  Why do I want what I want? What do we want collectively, and why?Do I actually want what I say I want, really? What conditioning and wounding has impacted my longings? How can I even know whether my ambitions are truly mine?Is it even okay to hold these desires, when so many have so little? The questions of ambition are not questions we can neatly answer, but questions we’re invited to live in.  This week’s podcast episode is an exploration on how we can live, breathe, and move within these complex questions...  In this episode, I share: How we can cultivate deeper self trust, while also interrogating our ambitions The initial “yes” that can make all the difference, and why it’s not the whole story Why unmapping from toxic ambition is Grief Work, and some thoughts on what we might need in order to be with it The profound role pleasure can play in walking us back to a deeper understanding of our deepest longings and highest vision You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep15 ––– RESOURCES + LINKS: Sign up for Nisha’s free new workshop, Embody Your Leadership: Expand your freedom to show up with vision & devotion, here: EmbodyYourLeadership.com Meditation to connect with your Wise Future Self: NishaMoodley.com/join Soul of Leadership opens for enrollment soon. In these deeply divided times, where we’re expanding our awareness of the ways we’ve contributed to inequity and injustice, where social media enables a lightning-fast game of “telephone”, where assumptions are made based on optics, and where calls to “cancel” someone can take place of relational engagement… the fear of being called-out can be gripping. If we aim to embody our leadership… We don’t want to react like a little animal backed into a corner.  We don’t want to accidentally (let alone intentionally) cause harm.  But when we don’t face the fear of being called-out, we become fragile instead of resilient... We hide and keep ourselves small and quiet, because we don’t want to risk causing harm or receiving negative attention. We become rigid, self-righteous, and defensive, because deep down we can’t handle being wrong. In this episode, I share: How we can build resilience through receptivity (which doesn’t mean being open to abuse) The difference between calls for accountability and attacks, and why we ought to discern the difference, even if we don’t like how communication is being delivered How I “sort the mail” on communications, as a way to discern how I want to respond Why it’s crucial to remember that we have sovereign choice over how we respond What we need to consider about right-relationship, after the dust settles You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep14 ––– RESOURCES + LINKS: Sign up for Nisha’s free new workshop, Embody Your Leadership: Expand your freedom to show up with vision & devotion, here: EmbodyYourLeadership.com Soul of Leadership opens for enrollment soon. This week’s podcast is structured like a workshop, where I muse on the under-acknowledged challenges that I see getting in the way of us fully surrendering in devotion to our sacred work, and offer some of my favorite meditations, practices, and inquiries to open more fully to the medicine we’re here to receive and weave... In this episode, I share: How focusing on what’s marketable / what people want, can keep us from moving to our creative cutting edge The restrictive identities that bind our freedom to fully claim ourselves as whole beings How to shift from relating to your work as a Slot Machine to a Garden (and why we MUST) My favorite meditation for cultivating self-trust and trust in life The animist way of relating to my work that’s changed everything You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep13 ––– RESOURCES + LINKS: Learn about Nisha’s intimate new course, DEVOTED | Surrender Into Your Sacred Work: DevotedCircle.com Meditation to connect with your Wise Future Self: NishaMoodley.com/join Check out Episode 9, to learn more about cultivating an animist relationship with your work ––– IF YOU ENJOY DEVOTION PODCAST… We would love for you to rate and review it!  This helps more people find it and give it a chance.   In these times of intensity, many of us may find ourselves feeling tender and raw.  This can lead to our minds and nervous systems being more easily hijacked by technology and propaganda, leading to deepening disconnection, division, and aggression…   Lately, I have had many people reach out, challenged with sifting through all the competing and colliding narratives flying around, and desiring to feel more rooted clarity.  In this episode, I share...    :: Ideas for what to STOP doing, to create space for clarity and coherence  :: Discernment about where firmness and nuance can intersect around our beliefs :: How our nervous systems and minds can be easily hijacked, and some of my favorite simple practices for preventing that :: How America’s collective psyche reminds me a lot of my dad’s, shortly before his death, and how we might unhook from the hyper-paranoia You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep10
As we explore ways to create that are both personally and collectively nourishing, there’s an opportunity to seek clarity about what wants to be created, how it wants to be created, and what our place is in its creation. Relating to our creations through an animist lens invites us to hold them in RELATIONSHIP with all other beings.  This opens up the possibility to create things that are more integrated and mutually nourishing. In this episode, I’ll share: :: A philosophy for business that places strategy in service of soul  :: My favorite ritual for connecting with my business on a soul level, in order to gain clarity about how to support its growth :: The things we need to get clear on, in order to step into a role of stewardship  :: A soulful way to check-in with our work regularly, to see what’s needed You can find the show notes from this episode over at:  nishamoodley.com/ep9 ––– RESOURCES + LINKS: You can find Hiro Boga, mentioned in this episode, at HiroBoga.com Sign up for Nisha’s free new workshop, Embody Your Leadership: Expand your freedom to show up with vision & devotion, here: EmbodyYourLeadership.com ––– IF YOU ENJOY DEVOTION PODCAST… We would love for you to rate and review it!  This helps more people find it and give it a chance. Things are changing, but what will they change to…? So many folks are asking deep questions right now… What can the future hold, beyond these capitalist systems? What is the future of my work? What is the future of climate change?Where do I want to live? The BIG questions of our world, are shaping and fueling the big questions of our life. But when we place a high value on certainty and clarity, there can be discomfort with uncertainty, and an avoidance of the feeling of confusion.  This discomfort and avoidance can have us cling to the status-quo, rather than courageously and creatively envision and map towards new ways. In this episode, I’ll share: :: How we can normalize the feelings of confusion and disorientation for ourselves and others, so we can stay open to new possibilities for a more beautiful future. :: The importance of creating intentional comfort, so we can navigate the intensity of entering the mystery. :: Ways to identify your “pillars of nourishment” :: How to discern who has the capacity to walk with us through the journey of questioning. :: A bit of my own journey with unmapping from the pace of the world, towards embracing my own pace. In these times when so many people are facing death in ways that lack the intimacy and connection we may long for, I offer a very personal story of a redemptive, beautiful, and intimate death – my father’s.  I share this with the belief that in times of crisis, we need more stories and experiences of connection, beauty, and joy… and, if this is a tender topic for you at this time, please feel free to forego this episode. So often with our creative projects, we’re such lovers of the medium (ex. books) and such fans of “the greats” (ex. authors), that we hold ourselves back because our bar is so high. In this solo-episode, Nisha reflects on the ways we can move past our creative hesitation or frozenness around the projects in front of us...  In this episode, you’ll hear: :: The apparent-paradox of liberating our freedom to be imperfect, while also walking the path of integrity :: A personal story of when Nisha was stopped-in-her-tracks in a creative project, and how we can develop shame resilience by cultivating an inner voice of encouragement. :: The role of Creative Cheerleaders (and how to create your squad) :: Why working WITH fears is important to the process (vs. “smashing” / “crushing” them) :: Why your skill in executing may have nothing to do with your talent :: A random and embarrassing story of when Nisha met her “celebrity” crush... who also turns out to be one of her way-showers around creating imperfectly.
