In 1994 Deborah launched Hearts of Gold. After being moved by the plight of the homeless people she began encountering in Madison Square Park, and near her boutique, she resolved to do what she could to make “a small change” in the city’s homeless situation. Hear how she started, what the need is and how Hearts of Gold is now a multifaceted organization that has helped over 20,000 homeless mothers and children transition from the city’s shelter system to self-sustaining lives and permanent homes. https://www.heartsofgold.org
This week we interview one of our new chapters and hear his interesting story of how he heard about SHP and decided to start a chapter with a group of friends in his town.
Two long-distance ultra runners ran 131 miles over 3 days from SHP chapter to SHP chapter to raise awareness of child bedlessness. Brandon also ran the Iditarod Trail Invitational 350, a grueling 350-mile race in Alaska. Both talk with Luke and Mitch about the upcoming SHP program Move4Beds.
Jon shares how their chapter had early success in building their team in interesting circumstances.
We hear why James Welch started the chapter in a post 9/11 world as a veteran and his touching experiences of what SHP has brought to him personally.
