The Oscars never should have touched Best Picture. In 2009, the Academy changed Best Picture from five nominees total, to five-to-10 nominees. And which film should have actually won Best Picture?Alex and Nick look at the Best Picture races from 2009-2023 and revise the Academy’s poor decisions. Stray topics include recent Oscar “snubs,” bad movie trailers, the idiocy of preferential voting, and strongly disliking a movie everyone loves.Follow @WAYW_Podcast on Twitter and Instagram and Letterboxd.Send us mailbag questions at whatareyouwatchingpodcast@gmail.com

Great episode. Loved it. Love this movie. Kinda hard to find someone to recommend it to though, it’s not a headspace most people watch movies to get into i suppose. It was so satisfying to discover it though. The mood and the alianation, the aimlessness and the absurdity I totally identify with. It’s a gem. Rewatched it quite a few time. So Thanx from the other side of the world.
