Justice for Betty

Justice for Betty

2023-03-1201:15:45

Justice in any true crime case comes with a certain feeling of satisfaction, but there's something even more satisfying in seeing a cold case finally find justice.  Perhaps it's the validation of the fact that there is always hope; maybe it's seeing a family finally get the answers they have painfully sought for years and seeing them be able to finally move towards closure and healing; maybe it's both and more.  Join the Beer, Cheese, & Murder Gals as we honor an early podcast case request thanks to a police department and family that never gave up hope and finally found justice.
Wisconsin's War on Drugs

Wisconsin's War on Drugs

2023-03-1201:41:52

I’m sure Wisconsin isn’t the first place that comes to mind when you think about an area with a drug problem, but the sad reality is that drugs are a problem everywhere.  It often seems like a silent epidemic, something to mentally keep on the peripherals.  But even so, it has touched our lives.  Family and friends fall have fallen victim to addiction and there are far too many Facebook posts about people succumbing to their addictions and dying far too young.  So, join the Beer, Cheese, & Murder Gals, as we shed some light on the topic of drugs in Wisconsin.
Join the Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals as we dissect the murder at Dill Creek farm, covered by Dateline in November 2022 (do recommend).  Our stance on the matter is pretty clear, but we'll let you be the judge - is this a case of an "Evil Step-mother"?
Oh, My Nerves! Ep. 2

Oh, My Nerves! Ep. 2

2022-12-1101:10:49

The Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals are back with another batch of fresh Wisconsin news stories that make you want to say "Oh, my nerves!"  Join us for a little break from the heavy true crime, as we switch it out for some lighter, micro true crime stories.  We hope you enjoy these stories, and feel free to reach out and let us know what makes you want to say "Oh, my nerves!"
It is human nature to crave closure.  When it comes to true crimes, that means seeing the perpetrator face the consequences of their actions; seeing justice be served.  Sadly, it is actually more often than not, that true crime cases are left without resolution, without closure.  And while these cases can be difficult to cover, it is all the more important that we do so in the hope that someone, somewhere who may information is listening. Because that person just may be the one that holds the key to crack the case.  Join the Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals as we draw attention to the unsolved murder of Kelly Nolan, as she and her loved ones are still waiting for justice.
The Murder of Angela Drake

The Murder of Angela Drake

2022-11-0401:21:14

A little late in coming out, but... life. Your 20's is a time of transition, a mix of "adulting" and letting loose and enjoying your youth.  25-year-old Angela Drake was an extremely social and outgoing young woman who enjoyed hanging out at the bar with her friends but was also passionate about her chosen career as a licensed nurse.  She was a bright light, prematurely snuffed out after a chance encounter with the wrong person.  Join the Beer, Cheese, & Murder Gals as we discuss the tragic events in the murder of Angela Drake.
Join the Beer, Cheese, & Murder Gals as we recount a historic true crime dubbed "The Most Dastardly Crime in History".  The sadly true tale covers a truly senseless loss of life and the reality of a different age of justice.
The start of a long holiday weekend is usually something to celebrate; a chance to relax, unwind, and spend time with friends and family.  Instead of excitement and celebration, Memorial Day weekend 1999 brought shock and terror to the community of Germantown, WI.  When the brutalized body of young Theresa Wesolowski was discovered, those who knew her were left struggling to think of who could possibly have wanted to her harm her.  Join the Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals as we discuss the case and unravel the mystery.

2022-09-1401:16:53

In honor of someone near and dear to the Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals, we are trying something a little different for this one.  Join us as we cover a variety of WI news articles and stories with the simple requirement that they make you want to say, "oh my nerves!" (i.e., "oh my gosh!", "holy cow!", "good gracious!", "yikes!", etc.).
The Prohibition and the Great Depression of the 1920s and '30s were lucrative times for outlaws like Al Capone and John Dillinger.  Outlaws that they were, they were often on the run, and that usually meant Wisconsin.  Wooded and rural, Wisconsin was popular among Chicago-based gangsters for its isolation, not to mention the convenient places to stash booze being smuggled in from Canada.  Join the Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals as we scratch the surface of Wisconsin's gangster history!

The Boyfriend Did It

If you are a true crime junkie like us Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals, you know that when it comes to murder, the first place they always look is at the significant other.  You'll also likely know that, statistically speaking, there is a reason why that's the first place they look.  However, the saying "you can't judge a book by its cover" rings true in this case.  When a young mother is reported missing and later found murdered, the evidence seems pretty straight forward... until it doesn't.  Join the Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals as we crack the book open on the sad case of Nicole VanderHeyden.
Azana Salon Shooting

Azana Salon Shooting

Mass shootings are an all too frequent occurrence these days, but unfortunately, it's not new, and Wisconsin has suffered their share of shootings.  2012 was a particularly tough year for Wisconsin and mass shootings.  Still feeling the shock waves from the Sikh Temple shooting, another mass shooting rocked the community of Brookfield, WI.  Join the Beer, Cheese, & Murder Gals as we talk about the shooting at the Azana Salon and Spa.

What do you do when half the podcast crew is down and out with COVID? Switch things up with some "dairy" crimes! In this episode we keep things on the lighter side (we just didn't have the energy for anything else) with a series of articles covering dairy themed crimes throughout Wisconsin. It should also be noted that Anchor must have switched up their library of transition sounds, so we have sadly lost our cow at the end of the episode.  We're hoping to bring it back, so stay tuned! #savethecow

During a time when many college students are looking ahead to graduation and the start of the next chapter in their lives, or maybe just making it through semester exams, one soon to be graduate's future was cruelly cut short.  In the Spring of 2008, shock and horror struck the UW-Madison campus when 21-year-old Brittany Zimmermann was brutally murdered in her own apartment during broad daylight.  As a student at UW-Madison when this crime occurred, it has stuck with me. Join the Beer, Cheese, and Murder Gals as we discuss what happened and the difficult journey of getting justice for Brittany.

Horror in North Cape

Horror in North Cape

2022-04-2001:49:31

When one lives in a "safe" area, you never believe that something bad will happen, let alone a horrific crime with the power to haunt you forever.  In the Summer of 1990, the unincorporated town of North Cape was rocked by a truly horrific crime that left those involved with nightmares to this day.  With cows behaving oddly, a touch of satanic panic, events seemingly more likely to occur in the movies than in real life, and a connection to infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, this case has it all.  In fact, this case shattered my sense of safety; will it shatter yours? Please note, we did get a bit chatty in this episode (what can I say? we like our Wisco food and drink), so if you want to skip ahead to the crime, you won't hurt our feelings. Seriously though, we want your feedback! Follow us on Instagram @beercheeseandmurderpod and drop us a comment or message there or send us an e-mail to contact@beercheeseandmurderpodcast.com. Thanks for listening!
