Every weekday, host Lindsay Graham (American Scandal, American History Tellers) takes you back in time to explore a momentous event that happened ‘on this day’ in history. Whether it’s to remember the tragedy of December 7th, 1941, the day “that will live in infamy,” or to celebrate that 20th day in July, 1969, when mankind reached the moon, History Daily is there to tell you the true stories of the people and events that shaped our world—one day at a time. So if you’re stuck in traffic, bored at work—wherever you are, listen to History Daily to remind yourself that something incredible happened to make that day historic.

the answer to the bomb question isn't that hard when you think about it. the answer that most give is that it should have been dropped to save the lives of millions more, but this is utilitarian. this answer says that those lives that were lost were less important than the others that were saved by dropping the bomb, but that is simply wrong and morally bankrupt. those whose lives would have been lost without the bombs, while tragic, still had a choice

Fantastic storytelling here. This event caught my attention when I watched Eight Men Out and never knew the more intricate details laid out here in this podcast. Thank you for doing this one such a tremendous service.

There's no way. I'd be terrible living back then, no way I could watch two friends duel with weapons.

The moral of the story is: Do not taunt or conduct stunts with wild animals, as I often saw Irwin do. Sting rays fire their spear only when threatened. By contrast, David Attenborough was always very respectful of the animals he showed. Attenborough is still alive.

Henry Ford sounds like a talented man. If only he hadn't been a Nazi sympathizer, he might have left a positive legacy.
