Christy Lewis - Part 1

2024-12-1001:05:29

Christy Lewis is a Disney princess in her own right and Scott has known her since she was in grade school. She’s now an adult who has a job and is married and expecting her first child because unlike Peter Pan, she grew up. Christy earned her bachelor's degree from the university of Delaware in Elementary and Special Education (with a minor in disability studies). She also has a master's in Exceptional Children and Youth with a concentration in autism and severe disabilities.  She’s been working in community and regional theatres (including The Kennedy Center!) for about twenty years directing, stage managing, and performing in over 200 shows.  And finally, Christy participated in the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World. She was an attractions Cast Member, and worked on the Mad Tea Party and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. During her time there, she posted weekly bullet point updates on social media and those posts provided so much laughter and entertainment for so many people. Are you curious to know what she said in those posts? Well don't worry - you'll hear Scott and Christy talk about a lot of those bullet points during this interview because there’s just so much good stuff there! Enjoy! Parts 1 and 2 of Scott's conversation with Meredith Patterson have already dropped. In his intro for those episodes, Scott mentioned that when he started recording and when Meredith and he popped up on each others screens, they were just so happy to see each other. They've been in touch somewhat regularly over the years via texting, phone calls, and social media but they hadn’t seen each other in a lifetime so they naturally just talked and reminisced about their time together before they got into the interview itself.  Scott's been asked what doesn’t make the Final Cut…what you all don’t hear once the episodes are edited. Since these two friends talked for a bit about so many things before they got into the interview, what Scott's decided to do - with Meredith's approval - is drop this bonus episode! You’ll get to hear two friends laugh, reminisce about tour, etc. We hope you enjoy this peek behind the curtain. In just two days, it’ll be Thanksgiving. We hope you have an incredible holiday filled with family, friends, laughter, good health, and good food. Gobble gobble! Welcome to Meredith Patterson - Part 2! Scott and Meredith shared the stage in the national tour of Singin' in the Rain many moons ago and these two friends just had a blast seeing each other again and talking all things Disney. This week, Meredith shares even more stories of her time with Julie Andrews, what show she'd create in a Disney park, what she misses the most about being in the parks, and so much more! Part 1 of Scott's conversation with Meredith Patterson came out last week so be sure to give that a listen if you haven't already. So...Scott's been asked what doesn’t make the Final Cut…what you all don’t hear once the episodes are edited. Since Meredith and Scott talked for a bit about so many things before they got into the interview, what's going to happen is this - next week, you’ll get a bonus episode. You'll get to hear these two friends laugh, reminisce about tour, etc. It'll be sort of a peek behind the curtain of their friendship and we know you'll enjoy it! Today’s Guest is Meredith Patterson and she happens to be a very good friend of Scott's. They met another lifetime ago…waaaaaay back in December 1996 and got to perform together 8 shows a week on the US and Canadian tour of Singin’ in the Rain.   When the record button for this interview was pressed and when Meredith and Scott popped up on each others screens, they were so happy to see each other, they wound up talking and reminiscing for a while before they even talked about Meredith's career and the Disney stuff.  Since they talked for so long about so many things, and since people have asked what doesn’t make the Final Cut - what gets edited out of these interviews - what's going to happen is this - Part 1 is released today, Part 2 will come out next week, and the week after, a bonus episode of some of Meredith and Scott's personal conversation will come out, with Meredith's blessing. You’ll hear these two friends laugh, reminisce about their time together, etc.  On Broadway, Meredith is known for her incredible skills as a dancer both in balletic grace and tap dancing, and the New York Times compared her to the legendary Ginger Rogers. How’s that for a compliment? She made her broadway debut in the Julie Taymor directed play The Green Bird. For those not familiar, Julie Taymor directed the Broadway musical, The Lion King. Meredith then lived the classic understudy's dream come true when she took over the starring role of Peggy Sawyer in the Tony Award Winning Revival of 42nd Street, where she made her Broadway musical debut.  Meredith was also the first non-original principal to be recorded for posterity with the Lincoln Center Archives. When her Broadway contract was up, Meredith went on to star in the groundbreaking Moscow production of 42nd Street, where she was the first American actress to perform in an English-speaking production in Russia. Also on Broadway, she originated the role of Judy Haynes in Irving Berlin's White Christmas. Other theatre credits include A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden and The Boy Friend where she played the Julie Andrews role of Polly Browne under the direction of Julie Andrews. Her national tour credits include starring as Judy Haynes in White Christmas, Polly in Crazy For You, and Kathy Seldon in Singin' in the Rain.  Her television career began with her hilarious role on Boston Legal in a 5 episode arch opposite Candace Bergen and Tom Selleck for Disney owned ABC. She also guest starred on Law & Order SVU opposite Marissa Hargitay, The Good Wife, and Made in Jersey. She played Francesca on All My Children and is featured as one of the last 3 girls for the role of Val in the critically acclaimed A Chorus Line documentary, Every Little Step. Meredith made her feature film debut as Marilyn Monroe in Paramount’s Company Man. Some other film credits include Broken Flowers, where she played opposite Bill Murray and was Lady Alyssa in Disney's The Princess Diaries II: Royal Engagement with Julie Andrews, Anne Hathaway, and Chris Pine. Meredith now lives in Montana with her husband and two children where she runs her own production company. She’s written two books and she has her own podcast, all of which we’ll be talking about...in Part 2 so stay tuned! This episode picks up at the end of Meredith and Scott reminiscing. Enjoy Part 1 of Scott's conversation with the lovely...the talented...Meredith Patterson! Buckle up and get ready for this Magical Moments all about Cars Land at The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim! On October 17, 2007, Disney announced a 5-year, $1.1 billion dollar renovation and expansion plan for Disney California Adventure. This included a major overhaul of several existing areas of the park and the addition of Cars Land, which was the first land in a Disney Park that’s immersively themed entirely after a single intellectual property.  On 12 acres, Disney built an exact replica of Radiator Springs, which is the fictional town in which most of the film’s events take place. Cars Land opened on June 15, 2012 and when you’re there, you honest and truly feel like you’re in the actual movie. Do you remember the flashing traffic light where every third blink is slower? Well guess what? There’s a flashing traffic light…and the third blink is slower! In addition to these fun facts, Scott talks in depth about the attractions - Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters, and Radiator Springs Racers. He also talks about all of the shops, places to eat, who and where you can meet characters from the Cars films, Hidden Mickeys, and so much more! A conversation between Scott and his Mom... Mom - “Dad and I are sitting here talking and we think we’re ready to travel again and we want to know if you’d help us plan the trip because you’re really good at that stuff.” Scott - “That’s great! Where do you want to go?”  Mom - “Dad said he wants to go to Disneyland.” Scott was surprised because Dad isn’t a let’s go the Disney Parks type of guy. He doesn’t dislike it or anything….it’s just not what Scott expected to hear. Scott - “Disneyland?” And then joked, “When are we going?” Mom - “Oh, will you go with us? Please go with us.” Scott - “Mom, I was just kidding. I’m not crashing your vacation.” Mom - “Please go with us. You know your way around Disney. You’ll be able to help us. We love you and we don’t get to see you that much. Please go with us.” So back in April of 2015, Scott, his wife, and the kids did a California trip with some friends. They started in San Diego and then made their way up to San Francisco, making stops in Anaheim and Monterey. Scott's parents came in from Las Vegas and joined them in San Diego and at Disneyland but that was a while ago…so when his Mom asked him to join them on this trip, these thoughts raced through his mind: Mom recently turned 75, Dad just turned 82, things aren’t getting easier for them, and time keeps on moving despite Scott's best efforts to stop it. His parents live out west and Scott lives on the east coast. The three of them get along and they love spending time together. Scott also thought that Mom and Dad walking and navigating the parks would be a challenge...and he didn’t know if or when he'd have this chance again. And that’s how this trip came about. Enjoy Disneyland with Mom and Dad - Part 1...with some special surprises throughout! Hello, Guests and welcome to Birthday Trip to WDW - Part 2. In Part 1 last week, Scott talked about his first meal of the trip at Ronto Roasters, which is in Galaxy’s Edge, his first ride of the trip - Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular show and the time he spent with his friend, Kevin Brassard, after the show and the backstage tour Kevin gave him. Scott also talked about his actual birthday - January 30 - and how magical that day was because he got to spend time with some great friends - Billy, Russell, Dan, Shawn, and Karen. It was also magical because he had a Dole Whip Float with coconut rum! In today’s episode, Scott talks about his day at Universal with his friend and former podcast Guest, Jason Mangano, the amazing lunch he had at The Hollywood Brown Derby, his time with his pal, Bill Disbennett, at the Tri-Circle D Ranch, the After Hours at Magic Kingdom special ticket event, and so much more…including more fun audio recordings that he took on this trip!  Scott also does another round of "On This Day in Disney History," where he talks about some fun Disney history facts on the day a new episode drops. Walt Disney said, “Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things.” In this episode, Scott does something a bit different from his interview and Magical Moments episodes…this is his first recap of a Disney trip! At the end of last year…last season…he said he was working on a few new things for Season 3, and this is one of them! Scott took a one-week trip to Walt Disney World at the end of January into early February and he's excited to tell you all about it! Another new thing he's doing this season is "On This Day in Disney History," where he’ll be giving some fun Disney history facts on the day a new episode drops. One more thing that’s new for this episode is Scott recorded some fun audio clips throughout his trip and will be sprinkling them throughout so it'll feel like you're on the trip with him! These clips were taken in the moment…they were unrehearsed and his friend, Russell Fox, whom you’ll hear more about during this episode, inspired him to do that. Season 3 Trailer

2024-01-1605:26

To all who come to this happy podcast, welcome. Hi, I’m Scott Jacobs and I’m a huge Disney fan…so much so that I created this podcast and I am super excited about the Season 3 premiere of The Mouse and Me which will be hitting the airwaves in February!  For Season 3, I’m working on a few new things, one of which is a new segment called “On This Day In Disney History” where I’ll be telling you some fun Disney history facts on the day a new episode drops. Fun Fact - there are 2 "On This Day In Disney History" facts in this Season 3 Trailer! :) For this season, I’ll also be producing more Magical Moments episodes. If you’re new to the show, Magical Moments are different from the interviews in that it’s easier for me to talk about even more tips and tricks to navigating the parks and do deeper dives on topics like dining, rides, shows, Disney news, and more.  I have some pretty exciting guests in the pipeline for this season and I’m excited to talk with them about their Disney experiences, whether it be at one of the international parks, Disney Cruise Line, Run Disney, the festivals at Epcot, or as a VoiceOver actor for the movies. We’ll also talk about tips and tricks to navigating the parks, the best places to sit on certain attractions and food…we’ll talk about the food - the restaurants, some of the cool dishes, and, of course, the deliriously tasty snacks! If you haven’t already, please subscribe to the show, rate it, leave a review, and tell all of your friends…but only if you like it. If you didn’t like it, please…tell your enemies! Be sure to follow me on social media by searching The Mouse and Me. I post information about past, current, and upcoming guests and I do Fun Fact Friday because I love my fun facts! You can also email me at themouseandmepodcast@gmail.com and if you’d like to support the channel, please visit my Patreon page at patreon.com/themouseandme. Be sure to listen to next week’s episode where he'll be talking about Dining at the Disneyland Resort! Scott will also give tips on how to deal with dietary restrictions, how to eat for less, mobile ordering, dress codes, and more for both Walt Disney World and The Disneyland Resort! In this Magical Moments, Scott talks about the places where he, personally, has eaten. He starts with the theme parks and then talks about his dining experiences at Disney Springs and the different Disney Resort Hotels. Last week, Kevin and Scott had a blast chatting about Kevin's 38-year and counting career at Walt Disney World. He shared about his audition for the role of Indiana Jones and some extreme detail about Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular including the 9-month training he went through to get the show up on its feet, some high profile guests who saw the show, and what it’s like cracking a whip, running from a boulder, and dodging punches from a 6’7” giant. This week, Kevin and Scott continue their talk about what it was like to walk the red carpet and spend time with Harrison Ford during the premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in LA. They also talk about Hidden Mickeys, visiting the parks with kids, why Kevin likes working for THE WALT DISNEY Company, and so much more.    We hope you enjoy your morning routine, your drive to wherever you’re going, your workout at the gym, your power walk, jog, or run, your walk with the dog, or whatever you’re doing right now as you listen to Part 2 with Kevin Brassard!  Email: TheMouseAndMePodcast@gmail.com Support: www.patreon.com/themouseandme FB & Instagram: The Mouse and Me TikTok: @TheMouseAndMePodcast Twitter: @MouseMePodcast Music by Kevin MacLeod from https://incompetech.filmmusic.io
