Award winning filmmaker Jonathan Perry talks to me about "Sentinelese", his latest project which explores the isoloated people of North Sentinel Island. In 2006, islanders killed two fishermen whose boat had drifted ashore, and in 2018 an American Christian missionary was killed after bribing local fishermen to transport him to the island. I talk to Jonathan about why he would make a film about people who have made it very clear that they don't want any contact with the outside. We also dive deep into Jonathan's other projects, and take a look behind the scenes at how a film gets made.Jonathan's links:Insta: https://www.instagram.com/sentinelesefilm/Tom's LinksTwitter: @tommeetspeopleInsta: @tommeetspeopleTiktok: @tommeetspeopleYoutube: @tommeetsinterestingpeople

Edit: if you are seeing this and the epsiode length is 01:04:21, you have the updated version of the epsiode. This is one of those episodes where I beg you to just sit back and take on board everything Terry has to say. Some of the most interesting people that I’ve met in my life haven’t been those that haven’t stuck to one thing, rather they are the people who wear multiple hats and in other words, stick their fingers in as many different pies as possible. My guest today is Terry Turcker, and i’ve been at a lost as to what questions to ask because he has done so much.Terry is the founder of Motivational Check LLC but before that he has also been a college basketball player, a marketing executive, a hospital administrator, a SWAT Team Hostage Negotiator, a high school basketball coach, a business owner, a motivational speaker, and most recently, a cancer warrior. Our Social MediaTwitter: @tommeetspeopleInsta: @tommeetspeopleTiktok: @tommeetspeopleYoutube: @tommeetsinterestingpeopleTerry's Linkshttps://www.motivationalcheck.com/sustainableexcellencemembership.comLinkedln: https://www.linkedin.com/in/terry-tucker-9b5605179/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/motivationalcheckTwitter: https://twitter.com/terrytucker2012Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sustainableexcellenceauthor/Sustainable Excellence, Ten Principles to Leading Your Uncommon and Extraordinary Life - Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GLGVTVS
Leland Steel grew up in a suburb of Vancouver, BC, Canada. He was a stereotypical introvert and enthusiast of nerdy things, keeping a close-knit group of friends who spent their time playing street hockey, video games, Magic: The Gathering, and board games, as well as consuming all kinds of films. This group of friends became known as T-Hud, a very "clever" abbreviation for The Neighbourhood, since they all lived on the same street. It wasn't until his early- to mid-20s that he got into TTRPGs and the hobby tabletop gaming industry. This prompted him to start The T-Hud Podcast, a podcast covering video games, board games, and movies, which has been going for over five years, as well as his actual play show, The Incorrigible Party, which has been running for over three years and is quickly coming to an end. This is an incredibly bittersweet and significant milestone for them.Tom Meets Interesting People Links:Leave a Review on GOODPODSwww.goodpods.com/podcasts/tom-meets-interesting-people-213696Show LinksTwitter: @tommeetspeopleInsta: @tommeetspeopleTiktok: @tommeetspeopleYoutube: @tommeetsinterestingpeopleLeland's linksTwitter: @Leland_Steel Incorrigible Party: https://www.theincorrigibleparty.com/
Andrew wrote his first book, 'The A-Z of Cats', in 1984 at the age of eight. Since then, he has spent as much time as possible writing, making music, and enjoying life. AI is already here, whether we like it or not. In the art world, AI is present in the form of art generators like Midjourney and Dall-e. In communication, we can converse with Chat GPT, or open Notion and ask the AI to write an introduction. AI has now found its way into the podcasting world.Leave a Review on GOODPODSwww.goodpods.com/podcasts/tom-meets-interesting-people-213696About the episode My guest today is Sam Plank, the founder and CEO of Dubb, an AI marketing tool for podcasters. We discussed the implications of recent AI models such as Dall-e, Stable Diffusion, and Mid Journey and ChatGPT. We also talked about the importance of AI alignment and reducing biases in AI models, as well as the implications of using AI in the legal profession. But, of course, there are concerns about the use of AI in our everyday lives: should we rely on it? Should we trust it? Is AI something more than just a tool and what are our lives going to look like along side AI?If you have even a passing interest in AI, you don't want to miss this episode.Sam previously worked as a data scientist at Facebook and Quora. He is a founding fellow at the Integrity Institute, a non-profit that advances the theory and practice of protecting the social internet. This was a massive episode, wasn't it? It was my longest one yet, clocking in at almost two hours. I think that's a great sign. Matthew Bliss is the host of the Dead Drop Pod, a podcast that delivers gaming news from across the industry in under 10 minutes. He is also the creator of blissery.fm, a podcast editing and mastering service. We talk about starting your own podcast, the lessons we have both learned and talk in depth about the equipment and processes we use. This is the episode for anyone looking to get into podcasting. In this episode, we had the pleasure of talking to Jim Wolfe, a 66 year old business owner, electronic musician, and content creator. We discussed his main project, Five Notes Media, why he made it, and how he puts the music together. We also discussed his thoughts on leadership as facilitators at the bottom rather than the boss at the top.Rate this show on GoodPodshttps://goodpods.com/podcasts/tom-meets-interesting-people-213696Jim's LinksLinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr5notes.Tik Tok @ScaredCatMusicInstagram https://www.instagram.com/scaredcatmusicOur LinksLinktree: https://linktr.ee/tommeetsinterestingpeopleInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/tommeetsinterestingpeopleTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@meetsinterestingpeopleYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNvrfAfgj2hzSDVWTEJjD6ATwitter: https://twitter.com/tommeetspeopleTheme LicensePIXABAY LICENSE CERTIFICATEThis document confirms the download of an audio file pursuant to the Pixabay License as defined in the Pixabay Terms of Service available at https://http://pixabay.com/service/terms/ Licensor's Username: http://pixabay.com/users/music_unlimited-27600023/ Licensee: u_27y38ftpv7 Audio File Title: The Podcast Intro Audio File URL: http://pixabay.com/music/beats-the-podcast-intro-111863/ Audio File ID: 111863 Date of download: 2022-08-29 18:15:33 UTC Pixabay GmbH c/o Lacore Rechtsanwälte LLP Berliner Freiheit 2, 10785 Berlin, Germany Pixabay is a user-contributed stock content website. In the last episode of the season, I met Martin Whiskin to talk about how a voiceover artist makes a living, what goes into the work, and how a voiceover artist can help a business stand out from the crowd. You can check out the deep-dive reflection on my Substack, where I talk about what I learned and sum up this episode: https://tommeetsinterestingpeople.substack.com/Martin Whiskin is a voiceover artist who has lent his voice to Lego, RAF, Mercedes, NHS and BMW, to name a few, but his background is much more corporate and far less creative than voiceover. He worked as a data manager for 20 years while trying to be a "rock star" and was made redundant around the same time he realized that he wasn't good enough to be a famous musician. Martin was left looking at the skills he'd built up over the years during his time in bands, photography, design, videos etc., to see if any of those skills could be monetized. They couldn't! What was good enough for punk bands wasn't good enough to sell to businesses… but in a roundabout way, this led him to voiceover.
