Description
Murder on Songbird Road revisits the stabbing death of an 11-year-old girl in Southern Illinois and the subsequent arrest and conviction of her father’s fiancée for the crime. In this series, veteran true-crime host Lauren Bright Pacheco teams up with criminal defense attorney Bob Motta to investigate whether the case—one that tore apart a rural community, sparking controversy, corruption, and ongoing questions—was truly solved, or if an innocent woman remains wrongfully convicted.

Julie was railroaded by a really corrupt system. She's NOT guilty and theirs a lot of people that have some serious explaining to do and some people need to go to prison
Thank you for this podcast. I believe Julie Beverly didn't get a fair trial. I believe she didn't murder Jade. I am appalled at the way this was handled, and the cruelty with which a judge treated her when he ruled to have her baby taken away the moment the umbilical cord was cut. I'm appalled that racism and Christian bigotry played a part in this cruel saga. I'm a Christian myself, and know that our Lord wouldn't want us to mistreat anyone for any reason. Let us all pray for Julie's release.
Julie's treatment around having her baby was absolutely appalling. So many things at so many levels with this case are just awful.
she was logged out beating her stepdaughter. you guys are disgusting
Forcing jade to homeschool despite conflict between her and Julie that required jade to ask her mom to intervene, not feeding her, etc--you argue Julie can't be guilty but no one cares how jade felt being used as a pawn between adult women. why would she complain to her mother and school? why would she be so against school from home? Julie was abusive and anyone who survived child abuse from a parent can see it. you guys are bad reporters. justice for jade
no actual convincing reasons that she didn't do it. no voice for jade the actual victim. what happened to her? I was listening to find out but this stepmother pity party just glances right over jade every time. made me start thinking she must be guilty. can't listen to this anymore. I was that kid with the mom who could fake patience and kindness on camera and viciously abuse us off screen. irresponsible reporting at the very least
It's really sad what Julie went through. I believe she is innocent. To be sentenced to 55 years and give birth in custody and not even be allowed to hold and nurse your newborn baby... that poor woman! I pray that justice will prevail in the end. Maybe president Trump can be moved to have the case re-examined.
