Join us for this "real-life" discussion about what we encountered during our different journeys including stories about Applicant Tracking Systems, the (often horrific) candidate experience, and what we learned about how our "peers" in HR and talent acquisition REALLY operate (from the outside looking in).  Plus looking forward to catching up with long-time friend of the show Mike Wood as we learn about all the cool things he's working on at iCIMS!

Take yourself over to Google (and google Leadership Skills) and you’ll be served up a smorgasbord of content. Leaders, we are told, must be adept at relationship building, decision-making, conflict-management, etc. etc. etc. Necessary and needed? Absolutely.   But our guest on today’s show however strongly believes that necessary items in a leader’s toolkit are two things we don’t often talk about: · the ability to craft and write job posts · the ability to craft and write a resume   Join us as we have a chat with long-time friend of the show Kat Kibben from Three Ears Media.
Join us for a discussion with the Moderators of the Evil HR Lady Facebook Group (25k+ members!) as we discuss what it takes to moderate, manage and maintain control.  We'll discuss:  Stats on the group and the scope of what  is managed dailyWhy does your invite to the group get declined? What do the Mods look for in their (very minor) group member screening process? How do they moderate - the rules, the judgement required, what experience has taugh them? Why moderate in the first place? What kind of questions should posters ask? What questions are typically declined... and why?Why didn't a post get approved? Why are people "kicked out" of the group? Why are the Mods really picky about "Anonymous" posts? What questions don't work well in the group?

Join Michael and Robin when they chat with Dr. W. Jason Dunne, a leader in nursing education and is currently serving as Vice President of Operations at Arizona College of Nursing. According to the Arizona College of Nursing, with numerous campuses nationwide, we were faced with nurse burnout before the pandemic began. Now, taking Covid into consideration, it's even worse. Once a female-dominated industry, males now account for more than 12% of U.S. nurses. Men thinking of becoming a nurse can count on career stability, competitive pay, a flexible schedule, and travel opportunities – no longer with the stigma attached. We will discuss why men are more frequently pursuing a career in nursing, discuss the most popular specialties, and offer tips and resources for those interested in the profession. We will also discusss what’s happening in higher education and nursing, including an increasing nursing shortage, why should people consider a career in nursing despite the challenges (COVID, overflowing hospitals, etc.) and other topics.  Dr. W. Jason Dunne, a leader in nursing education and is currently serving as Vice President of Operations at Arizona College of Nursing. Dunne has been a registered nurse for more than 22 years and have had a diverse range of nursing practice, education and leadership experience within health care and nursing education. Join Michael as they chat with Florence Sterlin about being a black woman leader and how her team successfully navigated the challenges of the pandemic by working together and using technology in partnership with Deltek to bridge the communication gaps and lead in new ways. Women of color account for only 4% of C-suite leaders and are promoted to manager at far lower rates than men – so it’s no wonder that  Florence  faced challenges taking over her family’s engineering business.  Florence faced many hardships in 2016, but the communication gap the COVID-19 pandemic created soon became one of the most important hardships to navigate. Florence knew that the key to driving her family’s company forward was collaboration. Digital tools mended the communication gap between DB Sterlin’s employees and leadership, creating and sustaining a company culture of continuous feedback, connection and mentorship.
In this new world of hybrid work, HR professionals are challenged with having to create effective return-to-work strategies, while advocating for health and safety, and ensuring an overall positive employee experience.  Join Michael as they talk with Elisabeth Giammona, HR Business Partner at Envoy about her experience developing hybrid work strategies and learnings from Envoy customers.  Envoy’s workplace platform is used in over 14,000 locations worldwide by companies such as Slack, Pinterest, and Warby Parker. Elisabeth understands from these customers that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to return-to-work plans. It’s important to consider: Not only onboarding new employees but existing employees: There’s been a significant amount of change in the last year and things look very different coming back. It’s important to consider the return as seamless as possible, giving both new and existing employees access to the information and resources they need to feel comfortable coming back.Concise communication: Employees are relying on companies to be clear on where they stand with return-to-work policies. Communication needs to be as clear and intentional as possible in an environment that’s constantly changing, especially when people are distributed.Safe ways for creating connection in the workplace: Consider bringing back-office happy hours and events to reconnect with coworkers, but also implementing digital ways to connect given we’re in a hybrid setting.
