This time around, Tom answers numerous questions, including whether Donald Trump was the inevitable […]
On a short, solo episode, Matt analyzes Rep. Nancy Mace's controversial interview with George Stephanopoulos and then discusses Joe Biden's new TV ad.
Did you know that just 8% of Americans elect 83% of the U.S. House of Representatives? That means that some of the most extreme politicians in America—people with huge megaphones—were elected by just a small sliver of the electorate. The problem is that our primary system today is rigged to give us extreme politicians. On today's podcast, Nick Troiano talks about how this problem can be addressed. His new book is called The Primary Solution: Rescuing Our Democracy From The Fringes
Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is stepping down from his leadership post, and political strategist and commentator Rina Shah joins Matt to discuss McConnell's legacy. Matt and Rina also talk about the Supreme Court's decision to review Donald Trump's immunity argument, how the Gaza war is hurting Joe Biden in the Democratic Party, and why Rep. Lauren Boebert's family needs to clean up their act.
AEI's Guy Denton talks with Matt about Jack Posobiec saying, "Welcome to the end of democracy" during a CPAC panel discussion. Next, conversation turns to a New Orleans magician who used AI to impersonate Joe Biden for a political robocall. And lastly, Guy and Matt discuss the recent moon landing, and whether it's a positive sign that America still has the capacity to do great, ambitious things.
Will Saletan of The Bulwark joins Matt to discuss Trump's new $399 sneakers, and what they say about American politics. He also talks about the veepstakes, why Tim Scott thinks Republicans (not African-Americans) suffer from systemic discrimination, and whether Nikki Haley will endorse Trump when her quixotic campaign comes to an end. Enjoy!
Matthew Sitman, co-host of the Know Your Enemy podcast, talks with Matt about whether the American right was destined to end up with a leader like Donald Trump.
AEI's Guy Denton returns to talk with Matt about the death of Alexei Navalny, and why so many of today's right-wingers love Vladimir Putin. Matt discusses his Daily Beast column about why today's Gen-X Republicans would root for Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. They also discuss Rep. Mike Gallagher's decision to retire, and whether "adverse selection" is making the GOP irredeemably Trumpy. Lastly, they discuss what professional wrestling tells us about American culture and politics, and why a British accent is guy's "secret weapon."

Famed comic and actor Tom Arnold joins Matt to discuss his decades-long relationship with Donald Trump, his friendships with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the advice he gave to Chris Farley, what happened to Roseanne Barr, and more!
Doesn't America deserve better? On today's show, AEI's Guy Denton joins Matt to discuss why the 2024 presidential election pits a confused man against a chaotic one. They also talk about The Simpsons (Biden vs. Trump is like Grampa Simpson vs. Mr. Burns) and Larry Hogan's bid for U.S. Senate in Maryland.
David Frum returns to the pod to talk with Matt about his new essay at The Atlantic, "Uncancel Woodrow Wilson." David and Matt also discuss the GOP torpedoing an immigration enforcement deal.
On this rare solo episode, Matt settles some family business, err, talks about a few things on his mind.
Tom Nichols, staff writer for The Atlantic, talks with Matt about the right-wing's theory that Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, and the NFL are involved in some Deep State plot to re-election Joe Biden. They also talk about Donald Trump's campaign to stop a bipartisan border deal from passing.
Why did Nikki Haley wait until AFTER losing New Hampshire to start effectively mocking Donald Trump? Friend of the show, Guy Denton, joins Matt to posit some theories.
Veteran political strategist Mike Murhpy talks about Nikki Haley's chances in New Hampshire, including what she has gotten right and what she has gotten wrong.
David Frum, staff writer for The Atlantic, returns to the podcast to talk with Matt about the GOP primary election—and how we got here. *** If you like this podcast, please consider leaving a five-star review on iTunes. It really makes a difference in helping people find us! His excuse doesn't ring true. The point of putting a Black woman on the Court is to assure representation. As it is, Judge Jackson's credentials seem impeccable, but there is no absolute "best qualified" in any single candidate. It's an absurd construct to declare "there's Sri and everyone else." There's no blaming Twitter. He said what he said.

always fun to hear an Evangelical declaring that most of the people who self-identify as Evangelicals aren't Evangelical enough to really be considered Evangelical: don't go to church, aren't really born again, don't have correct theology. Therefore all the polling data on Evangelical political behavior are inaccurate in such a way as to prove all of his points. Matthew 7:2, motherfucker.
