Welcome to the 2022 installment of Flyover Territory! This is an all encompassing deep dive into everything Minnesota Twins off-season baseball. Each episode Dave and Woody will explore what the Twins are doing to improve their ball club for the 2022 season, and how the two think the Twins are most likely going to mess it up. From waiver signings to arbitration, and rule 5 draft to pitchers and catchers reporting (and maybe a lockout or two in the mix as well!), Dave and Woody will be along for the entire ride! Added to Season 4 this year is also a heavy influx of the latest craze sweeping the nation, sports cards! Each episode will try to balance covering both passions of Dave and Woody, at the intersection of Twins Baseball, Topps and Panini.

After a long mid-season break, we're back! And better than ever as AL Central Champs once again! This week we take a quick look at what got us to this point, and then focus our attention on the task ahead; our attempt to win just one, single playoff game. And healing Royce Lewis's hamstring.
Hard to believe we already are at the pivotal 10% mark of the season, but with the passing of mid April, here we are. The Twins were off to a hot start, winning 3 of their first 4 series before splitting a 4 game series in NY. Dave and Woody are back to discuss the highs and lows of the NY series, their ideal line ups after 16 games, and Pablo Lopez signing his extension. And maybe a small Dropping Balls 2023 season preview thrown in for fun.
The 2023 season is finally upon us! And Dave and Woody are here to get you ready for what to expect from your Minnesota Twins this year. Do we finally have enough pitching? What's going on with our infield? Will the Twins win the division?? Here's a hint: we both think we will win more games than we lose...
We've made it a half decade! How you ask? Definitely not PEDs... But Dave and Woody are back in time for the turn of the calendar to the 2023 Twins' season, and with that comes the obvious: Carlos Correa. Instead of telling you how it happened, we just take some quality time and chat about how two die hards were taking it all in over the course of the Giants/Mets/Twins saga. We then look a bit at the current state of the roster, before maybe foreshadowing a few things to come. RIP Luis Arraez! (well, not really RIP but for all intents and purposes...)
The metaphorical weather forecast for this episode: gloomy, with a chance for rain, or maybe it's already raining. It's hard to tell sometimes in the dog days of summer, but luckily Dave and Woody are back to talk through it all. In this pre-deadline episode, the two discuss the current state of affairs with hometown Twins, a brief overview of the AL Central, and then each go through their wish lists for what they'd like to see happen at the trade deadline, but also what they actually think will happen.
Has it been perfect? No, but somehow your hometown Minnesota Twins are leading the AL Central, and that has Dave and Woody excited, in a very Minnesotan way. Cautiously optimistic may be a better way to describe it, but alas, first place is first place! In this week's check in, the two discuss the pitching concerns, our young player depth issues, and a preview of what the trade deadline could offer if these winning ways continue! Arraez for President! Or at least an all star spot!
Finally we're back with games that count! And with that comes Dave and Woody fresh off a near perfect game outing at Target Field (thanks for nothing Dave Roberts!). This week the two dive into the first 6 games of the season, the underwhelming sense they get if they were to base everything off these 6 games, and a little dive into some historical relevance of Clayton Kershaw as one of the last true starting pitcher heroes. "There aren't must win series in April, but there are can't lose ones..." might just be our first merch for the pod!
After a long, dark, turbulent 99 day lockout, Dave and Woody are back, and better than ever! Well, maybe not quite that far, but the two are back and ready to report for the 2022 Minnesota Twins season! In this season preview the two dive deep into the moves the Twins made since the lockout ended, their concerns over the current state of the pitching options, and future projections for the 2022 season. And maybe take a little bit of time to discuss the new starting shortstop, just some unknown guy named Carlos Correa.
This is a baseball podcast, but sometimes baseball is hard to talk about when you live in flyover territory. So this week, Dave and Woody briefly talk about the state of baseball for their hometown club, and then get into their main topic: Premier League Football and most importantly, the return of Cristiano Ronaldo. Understandable if you wanted baseball talk if you choose to opt out this week. We'll get back to baseball next time out.
It's been 6 weeks, and while a lot has happened, a lot has also not happened. In this episode Dave and Woody look back at how the trade deadline went down, which saw a lot of fan favorites exit, while potentially bringing in new faces of the franchise. Then the two look at how the rest of the 2021 season should unfold, and if we're lucky enough to get to see a 2022 season, how that version of the club should look (big hint: youth movement or bust!).
Well, May 15th has come and gone, and even after the week plus extension that Dave and Woody gave the Minnesota Twins to figure it out, the time has come for more than just consideration into the rest of the 2021 season and beyond. After rolling through the current roster and attempting to chart a path forward, Dave and Woody finish off the episode discussing how they've been managing the slow part of the card collecting year. At least we have the Orioles and the Royals coming up for the next 2 weeks?
Recording this on April 27th, Dave and Woody are back to officially consider mashing the panic button to the 2021 Minnesota Twins season and beyond. After playing a round of "whose fault is it?" the two discuss next steps for the organization, Rocco's future, and the lack of prospects becoming big leaguers in a timely fashion. On a positive note, they end the pod discussing their current position on the NFT craze, and how the two see the paper vs digital landscape shifting in the near future.
We finally have made it! The 2021 MLB season is here, and Dave and Woody are ready to enjoy a few dome dogs to celebrate. After discussing ballpark snacks that they hope to enjoy in person soon, the two break down the 26 man roster as it sits entering the season, their concern about Alex Kirilloff not starting the season in the big leagues, and the things they're looking forward to the most about the season in general. Then, like every other sports card podcast the two discuss PSA's decision to halt grading, and Target strategies for their weekly hunt for prizms.
Building on last week's episode, Dave and Woody are back to dive deeper into the new addition to the pod's content this season, sports cards. After discussing how the two of them got into the hobby and how they fit into the sports cards culture of the modern times, they break down their first hobby box break venture, and where to go from here with all these Premier League Prizm base cards laying around.
We're back with season 3 of Flyover Territory! As spring training is under way for the 2021 season, Dave and Woody dive into forecasting what this year's Twins club looks like, ask if we're being fair with expectations of Alex Kirilloff, spend way too much time talking about the Chicago White Sox, and then finish off the episode with a introduction into some new sports cards content we'll be featuring on each episode moving forward. Fingers crossed that the Royce Lewis ROY season has only been put on pause for 2021!
It's finally 2021! And with the new year brings a new season for your hometown Minnesota Twins, but unfortunately it also brings more front office shenanigans. Luckily, Dave and Woody are here to break down the moves the Twins have made this off-season, and the moves the two wish the team would have pursued. Like, for example, how Nolan Arenado and $50 million gets traded for essentially scrubs and you don't even attempt to put something together (someone is definitely not bitter...)
The Hot Stove may seem like it's turned off, but we promise you we're still monitoring it! Back for the start of Off-Season #3 for Flyover Territory, Dave and Woody look to begin the breakdown of the Twins off-season, with absolutely no new news to announce on the player acquisition front. But in other big news, the two take a deep dive into what could bring a whole new level of excitement and interest into Twins Territory (and Flyover Territory too!) next season and beyond; the announcement of the St. Paul Saints finally becoming a minor league affiliate!
Finally able to comprehend how the 2020 Minnesota Twins' season end (and fixing a few bugs with the audio...damn you Zoom!) Dave and Woody are back with the recap of the playoffs ending, debating the need for the wild card round to be a series over just one game, and looking towards the future that hopefully includes Trevor Bauer and a healthy Byron Buxton. This was recorded right after the Twins' season ended in October, again, damn you Zoom!
It's official, your Minnesota Twins are back to back Central Division Champs! After an action packed last day of the regular season, the Twins locked up the division, and the all important 3 seed, in the 2020 MLB Playoffs. Before the team gets started on their quest for a third World Series trophy, Dave and Woody do a quick overview of the playoff bracket, look at the potential path to the World Series, and take a deeper look at our Wild Card Series matchup versus the Houston Astros, who are hopefully without trash cans this year. We're just glad we finally play someone not named the Yankees...
As the mid point of the 2020 MLB season flew by us, Dave and Woody sit down to discuss the Twins' would be all stars if the game were to be played this year, take a look at the trade deadline action around the league, and the deadline inaction our hometown Twins participated in, and finish up by taking a look at the pitching and hitting positives and negatives as we close out the regular season and head into the fall.
