Kawaii-Fi Radio - Anime Podcast

With Pokemon turning 30 this year, we realised we’ve never talked about its early films! We talked about the anime as a whole back in episode 102 as Ash’s journey came to an end, but the early films are a whole different beast, from a time when Pokemon was only just staking it’s claim to the monster catching title! While Mewtwo Strikes Back, The Power of One, and The Spell Of The Unown may hold a place dear in our hearts, they also were during a time where localisation sometimes completely rewrote dialogue for no good reason. So strap in for a fun but odd chat about what made the cut, and what didn’t! SUPPORT USPatreon: Patreon.com/KawaiiFiBuy us a Coffee: Ko-fi.com/kawaiifi NEWS ITEMSVoice Actor Mike McFarland passes away at 56Saint Seiya Creator sues former manager and team for 2.8 Billion Yen Live-Action Look Back Film previews memorable scenesGodzilla Minus Zero drops IMAX Trailer Kagurabachi extends preview screening to more countries Specials coming for My Happy Marriage Anime on October 25 VIDEOS!Kawaii-Fi YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/KawaiiFiKyle’s YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KyleinOrbitTifa's YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/thetkennedy JOIN THE KAWAII-FI COMMUNITYFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/KawaiiFiAnime/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kawaiifianime/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@kawaiifianimeTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kawaiifianimeDiscord: https://discord.gg/p9ccFx8vTQ LISTEN ELSEWHERE?Spotify: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiSpotifyApple: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiAppleYT Music: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-Fi-YMCastbox: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiCastboxGoodpod: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-fiGoodpodAmazon Music: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiAmazonPocket Casts: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiPocket EPISODE SEGMENTS00:00:00 – Show Opener00:02:56 – What We’re Watching00:21:00 – Cinema club: Pokemon Movies01:13:40 – Anime Communique01:28:41 – Next Time, testing boundaries and Dinosaur Ninjas! Tags:Anime,Manga,Anime Podcast, podcast,Anime Recommendations,,anime reviews,New anime, top 10 anime,Best anime, anime news,Pokemon,Pokemon The Movie,Mewtwo strikes back,Pokemon 2000,Pokemon 3,Pokemon films,Chainsmoker,Isekai Izakaya,Izakaya Nobu,Dorohedoro,Mike McFarland,Master Roshi,Saint Seiya,Masami Kurumada,Look Back,Live Action,Godzilla,Godzilla Minus One,Godzilla Minus Zero,Kagurabachi,My Happy Marriage

We’re finally diving down the rabbit hole to talk about Paprika to celebrate its 20th anniversary! If you’ve not seen this masterpiece of anime cinema, you’re in for a treat! Paprika might not seem like your typical anime film, with its psychedelic use of colours and what appears to be a somewhat avant-garde approach to storytelling at first glance. However, this film is built around a very simple premise – what if there was a device you could use to enter someone’s dreams, and what dangers could arise if this device fell into the wrong hands? So strap in, check your spice cabinet, and join us as we dive into visionary director Satoshi Kon’s final film before his passing.Plus all the latest anime news and a few other fun recommendations!NEWS ITEMSJapanese Government to Abolish Cool Japan FundFrench Dragon Ball Theme Park not approved by rights holdersJujutsu Kaisen Season 4 drops new poster and teaserEven the Student Council Has its Holes! Dinosaurs and anime seem like a match made in heaven – both have fascinating depths and variety to them, both tug at your imagination, and both are appreciated highly by many of us neuro-spicy folk! We went on a deep dive into anime featuring dinosaurs as a core theme, not just as a side element, and came up with barely a handful. So it begs the question - where are all the Dinosaur anime? This episode we talk about this strange gap in the catalogue, along with coming up with some silly concepts for dino-anime along the way! Also, apologies for the late upload - Kyle got called away for work and was unable to edit until this weekend! SUPPORT USPatreon: Patreon.com/KawaiiFiBuy us a Coffee: Ko-fi.com/kawaiifi NEWS ITEMSMechanical Designer Katsushi Murakami Dies at 83https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-08-07/mechanical-designer-katsushi-murakami-dies-at-83/.240284 SAG-AFTRA Lists Voice Actor Michael Donovan's Deathhttps://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-08-07/sag-aftra-lists-voice-actor-michael-donovan-death/.240382 The Apothecary Diaries Season 3's Trailer Unveils October 2 Debut, More Cast, Opening Songhttps://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-08-15/the-apothecary-diaries-season-3-trailer-unveils-october-2-debut-more-cast-opening-song/.240600 KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world! 4 Anime Reveals Staff, 2027 Debuthttps://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-07-26/konosuba-god-blessing-on-this-wonderful-world-4-anime-reveals-staff-2027-debut/.239976 The Dangers in My Heart Manga Ends in 3 Chaptershttps://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-08-04/the-dangers-in-my-heart-manga-ends-in-3-chapters/.240281 Crunchyroll to Release Makoto Shinkai's New Film Globally, Excluding Most of Asiahttps://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-08-11/crunchyroll-to-release-makoto-shinkai-new-film-globally-excluding-most-of-asia/.240494 VIDEOS!Kawaii-Fi YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/KawaiiFiKyle’s YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KyleinOrbitTifa's YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/thetkennedy JOIN THE KAWAII-FI COMMUNITYFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/KawaiiFiAnime/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kawaiifianime/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@kawaiifianimeTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kawaiifianimeDiscord: https://discord.gg/p9ccFx8vTQ LISTEN ELSEWHERE?Spotify: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiSpotifyApple: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiAppleYT Music: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-Fi-YMCastbox: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiCastboxGoodpod: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-fiGoodpodAmazon Music: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiAmazonPocket Casts: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiPocket EPISODE SEGMENTS00:00:00 – Show Opener00:01:50 – What We’re Watching00:23:23 – Now Featuring: Dinosaurs?01:02:28 – Anime Communique01:17:01 – Next Time, spices and internet outages Tags:Anime,Manga,Anime Podcast, podcast,Anime Recommendations,,anime reviews,New anime, top 10 anime,Best anime, anime news,Dinosaur,Heart and Yummie,Dinosaur King,Jurassic Shadows,Darling in the Franxx,Dragonball,My Step-Sisters aren’t Evil,Ghost in the Shell,Karmen Rider,KonoSuba,Apothecary Diaries,Kaiju No. 8,Dangers in My Heart

We’re a bit late this episode due to a combination of life events and work getting in the way of us recording! Our dinosaur anime ep is now dropping next episode, and in the mean time we have an anime film to talk to you about!Long time anime fans will know of the incredible Your Name by Makoto Shinkai, and likely his follow up features – Weathering With You and Suzume. Before finding success with garden of words, Shinkai moved from making short films to feature lengths with the 2011 film – Children who Chase Lost Voices, also known as Journey to Agartha in some markets. It’s his first full length film and it certainly shows. So we have to ask - is this Makoto Shinkai’s worst film?SUPPORT USPatreon: Patreon.com/KawaiiFiBuy us a Coffee: Ko-fi.com/kawaiifiVIDEOS!Kawaii-Fi YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/KawaiiFiKyle’s YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KyleinOrbitTifa's YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/thetkennedyJOIN THE KAWAII-FI COMMUNITYFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/KawaiiFiAnime/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kawaiifianime/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@kawaiifianime TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kawaiifianimeDiscord: https://discord.gg/p9ccFx8vTQLISTEN ELSEWHERE?Spotify: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiSpotifyApple: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiAppleYT Music: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-Fi-YMCastbox: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiCastboxGoodpod: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-fiGoodpodAmazon Music: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiAmazonPocket Casts: https://bit.ly/Kawaii-FiPocketEPISODE SEGMENTS00:00:00 – Show Opener00:01:36 – Cinema club: Children who Chase Lost Voices00:42:21 – Dinosaurs, Quetzalcoatls and Red Bulls?Tags:Anime,Manga,Anime Podcast, podcast,Anime Recommendations,,anime reviews,New anime, top 10 anime,Best anime, anime news,Children who Chase Lost Voices,Journey to Agartha,Makoto Shinkai,Shinkai Makoto,Your Name,Weathering With You,Suzume,Garden of Words,Quetzalcoatl
