शिव पुराण हिंदी में : "विद्येश्वर संहिता" भारत के प्रसिद्ध ग्रन्थ महाशिवपुराण का प्रथम भाग है। शिवपुराण अठारह पुराणों में से एक प्रसिद्ध पुराण है। इस पुराण में २४,००० श्लोक है तथा इसके क्रमश: ६ खण्ड है- इस भाग में निम्न विषयों पर सविस्तार वर्णन मिलता है:- प्रयाग मे सूतजी से मुनियोंं का तुरन्त पाप नाश करनेवाले साधन के विषय मे प्रश्न शिवपुराण का परिचय साध्य-साधन आदि का विचार तथा श्रवण,कीर्तन और मनन –इन तीन साधनों की श्रेष्ठता का प्रतिपादन महेश्वर का ब्रह्मा और विष्णु को अपने निष्कल और सकल स्वरूप का परिचय देते हुए लिंगपूजन का महत्त्व बताना विद्येश्वर संहिता भगवान शिव से सम्बन्धित है। इस संहिता में 'शिवरात्रि व्रत', 'पंचकृत्य', 'ओंकार का महत्त्व', 'शिवलिंग की पूजा' और 'दान के महत्त्व' आदि पर प्रकाश डाला गया है। शिव की भस्म और रुद्राक्ष का महत्त्व भी बताया गया है। इसमें बताया गया है कि रुद्राक्ष जितना छोटा होता है, उतना ही अधिक फलदायक होता है। खंडित रुद्राक्ष, कीड़ों द्वारा खाया हुआ रुद्राक्ष या गोलाई रहित रुद्राक्ष कभी धारण नहीं करना चाहिए। सर्वोत्तम रुद्राक्ष वह है, जिसमें स्वयं ही छेद होता है।

शिव पुराण हिंदी में : "विद्येश्वर संहिता" भारत के प्रसिद्ध ग्रन्थ महाशिवपुराण का प्रथम भाग है। शिवपुराण अठारह पुराणों में से एक प्रसिद्ध पुराण है। इस पुराण में २४,००० श्लोक है तथा इसके क्रमश: ६ खण्ड है- इस भाग में निम्न विषयों पर सविस्तार वर्णन मिलता है:- प्रयाग मे सूतजी से मुनियोंं का तुरन्त पाप नाश करनेवाले साधन के विषय मे प्रश्न शिवपुराण का परिचय साध्य-साधन आदि का विचार तथा श्रवण,कीर्तन और मनन –इन तीन साधनों की श्रेष्ठता का प्रतिपादन महेश्वर का ब्रह्मा और विष्णु को अपने निष्कल और सकल स्वरूप का परिचय देते हुए लिंगपूजन का महत्त्व बताना विद्येश्वर संहिता भगवान शिव से सम्बन्धित है। इस संहिता में 'शिवरात्रि व्रत', 'पंचकृत्य', 'ओंकार का महत्त्व', 'शिवलिंग की पूजा' और 'दान के महत्त्व' आदि पर प्रकाश डाला गया है। शिव की भस्म और रुद्राक्ष का महत्त्व भी बताया गया है। इसमें बताया गया है कि रुद्राक्ष जितना छोटा होता है, उतना ही अधिक फलदायक होता है। खंडित रुद्राक्ष, कीड़ों द्वारा खाया हुआ रुद्राक्ष या गोलाई रहित रुद्राक्ष कभी धारण नहीं करना चाहिए। सर्वोत्तम रुद्राक्ष वह है, जिसमें स्वयं ही छेद होता है।

शिवपुराण की विद्येश्वर संहिता के अध्याय 9 में भगवान शंकर ब्रह्मा और विष्णु को ॐ मंत्र का रहस्य समझाते हैं। महादेव ने ब्रह्मा और विष्णु से कहा कि मैंने पूर्व काल में अपने स्वरूप भूतमंत्र का उपदेश किया है जो ओमकार के रूप में प्रसिद्ध है | वह महा मंगलकारी मंत्र है सबसे पहले मेरे मुख से ओंकार प्रकट हुआ जो मेरे स्वरूप का बोध कराने वाला है। ओमकार वाचक है और मैं वाच्य हूं। यह मंत्र मेरा स्वरूप ही है।
