Did you miss us?! No? Well that's alright because we're back with the season finale of Garage Talk (simulcasted on @Stadiumscene ). We spend the first part of the show catching up on what we missed over the last month and get way off topic looking again at the current state of television. When we finally do get back on topic we go right into the worst kept secret in IndyCar that former Formula 1 driver and son of legendary driver Michael Schumacher, Mick will be joining RLL next season! We discuss what kind of impact that will have on the sport.Next, we move on and quickly recap the NASCAR season finale and the frustrating finishes for both Denny Hamlin in the Cup Series and Connor Zilisch in the Xfinity Series. We then move onto the latest drama in the NASCAR/23XI & FRM lawsuit including some not very flattering texts between NASCAR President Steve Phelps and NASCAR Official, Brian Herbst. They range from trashing the SRX Series and comments that upset Richard Childress so much that he's threatening to take legal action. Nobody is going to win this lawsuit. Finally, we close out the show talking the shocking double DQ of the McLaren cars and how some people believe that McLaren had been cheating (while some don't agree). Max is right back in it with two races and a sprint to go. Can he pull off the miraculous comeback in his drive for five in a row?Don't forget to tune into the season premiere of Wednesday Night Dash on January 7th at 10pm ET only on @Stadiumscene . On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk (simulcasted on @Stadiumscene ), D.J. and Erik look at the end of their iRacing Indy Racing World Series season. The good (D.J.'s win at Iowa), the bad (Erik's big wreck on the final lap of the Indy race), and the ugly (D.J. at Portland). We also look ahead to the season finale of Wednesday Night Dash (October 29th at 10pm ET).Next, we move on to Formula 1 and bring up how D.J. said the only way for Max Verstappen to catch the two McLaren drivers in the points is for them to absolutely botch these next couple of races. That's almost exactly what happened this weekend. Max looked like his old self and both McLaren cars ended up wrecked on lap 1 of the sprint. Lando at least walked away with a podium finish in the main race. Finally, we look at the latest in the NASCAR playoffs, who has the best chance from the bottom 4 in the Cup Series to move on, and which would be the bigger disappointment of losing out their championship at Phoenix, Corey Heim (Trucks) or Connor Zilisch (Xfinity)? Both drivers have been phenomenal all year.⏱️⏱️EPISODE CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Indy Racing World Series Indianapolis Recap and Dramatic Finish Analysis00:05:14 - Pit Stop Strategies, Tire Choices, and Season Standings Discussion00:10:06 - Long Runs, Overtime Restarts, and Net Code Issues at Pocono00:15:03 - F1 US Grand Prix Review: McLaren Implosion and Max Verstappen's Victory00:19:59 - COTA Race Highlights, NASCAR Talladega, and Stage Racing Impact00:24:43 - Phoenix Raceway Preview, Truck Series Drama, and Halloween Festivities00:29:53 - Martinsville Predictions, Playoff Standings, and Xfinity Series Insights00:34:51 - Season Finale Preview, Driver Updates, and Closing Thoughts---------Bottom Split Racing Series returns in January 2026!Wednesday Night Dash season finale is Wednesday at 10pm ET!Indy Racing World Series returns in January 2026!Follow F-R Racing on social media.Affiliate Links: Today's episode is powered by Extreme SimRacing. We're a little late publishing this week due to illnesses in both of our households, but the show must go on! In this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, we take a look at NASCAR weekend at the Roval, possible race manipulation, and did D.J. place another +1200 bet on Joey Logano winning in 2025?We dive into the deeper conversation about sports betting, the pros and cons of being able to bet in many states via sports apps versus having to go to Vegas or one of the other few places where sports betting was legal in person. It's become oversaturated that gambling and odds have taken over as the stats. Is it ruining the sports we watch? Finally, we close out the show discussing Oscar Piastri fuming post race and cutting off Zak Brown by disconnecting the radio mid pep talk. Is it possible for McLaren to bottle the drivers championship and let Max catch up and win? We discuss.Thank you to everyone who donated to our @AFSPNational fundraiser! After a week off for "Fall Break" we are back with an all new episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk! On this week's episode D.J. talks about where he was last week, and recaps his visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. The museum re-opened last spring after a major renovation so now that he's visited the old and the new museum, he shares what he thinks.Next, we move on and discuss the crazy finish to the NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas that left multiple Toyota drivers upset at each other as Chase Elliott sneaks through and takes the win coming out of turn 4.Finally, we discuss the rumor started on Reddit this week that Richard Childress was going to announce his retirement this weekend at the Charlotte Roval, but RCR has since come out to deny the rumors. When we race at Texas, D.J.'s cowboy hat comes out. Erik decided to pull out the sloth drinking a beer and eating a taco Hawaiian shirt to fit in with the ridiculous theme of today's show. We start off by recapping the fact we went to Texas Motor Speedway for Wednesday Night Dash, how it went, and how a penalty hosed Erik's race. We also get into the first iRacing Indy Racing World Series rain race at Portland International Raceway. On the second half of the show we discuss the official release of the 2026 IndyCar schedule, the double weekend at Milwaukee, and no Iowa. Then we move on and discuss proposed changes to the NASCAR playoffs including a multi race last four or maybe a final six drivers instead of four? Finally, we discuss a little F1 and the upcoming calendar.Be sure to support our mission at Stadium Scene TV this month as we participate in Streamers Against Suicide, raising funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. New cars, new tracks, updated artwork, and a gigantic file size!On the second half of the show, we discuss the NASCAR race at Gateway with Denny Hamlin winning. D.J. puts on his tin foil hat and questions why did the broadcast feed cut out right before Denny Hamlin crossed the line and was it related to the fact Denny's lawsuit against NASCAR is getting really ugly? We discuss. Finally, Max Verstappen returns to the top step of the podium and McLaren are dealing with team orders. The IndyCar season wrapped up last weekend at Nashville with Josef Newgarden salvaging a bad season with a win. It was his 11th straight season with a win in the IndyCar season. We look back at how the season went, the good, the bad, and how to improve on story telling. What can IndyCar learn from the WWE (no not scripted results).Next, we move on and discuss the NASCAR weekend from Connor Zilisch's win in Portland, the "shortcut" through turn 1 and 2, and do they need to change the rule? After that we discuss Chase Briscoe winning back to back Southern 500s with two different teams and two different OEMs. It was an incredibly impressive drive as he looks to build momentum at JGR.Finally, we do a quick recap of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, Isack Hadjar's impressive drive and first podium finish, to Ferrari and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Also, did Charles LeClerc cause a surge in the birth rate in Italy as a result of winning at Monza in 2024? We look at the hilarious social media claim.Be sure to tune in to Stadium Scene TV all month as we participate in Streamers Against Suicide, raising money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention! Hello to our friends at IndyCar! We really appreciate the listen! (We're kidding, I think). With the breaking news this week that IndyCar is likely returning to Phoenix Raceway for the first time in years, D.J. shares his excitement about having another reason to go to the track. First though, we kick off the show talking about the breaking news that wasn't, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will be driving for Cadillac F1. This has been largely known, but it is now official. Oh and the announcement video with Keanu Reeves was awesome.Next, we talk about the improved racing at Milwaukee and Christian Rasmussen's incredible pass on the high side to win. Is this a comfort thing being the 2nd time at the track, was the high line practice the difference here? Is this the format for good oval racing in IndyCar (minus the recent Iowa races...)Finally, we talk about NASCAR weekend with Blaney's run to the top, Alex Bowman's sigh of relief, and the surprising win with the tandem driving of Connor Zilisch and Parker Kligerman taking the Xfinity win.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Formula 1 Big Announcement: Cadillac F1 Team and Driver Lineup Revealed00:01:00 - IndyCar News: Alex Palou Rumors and Young Driver Speculation00:04:47 - Milwaukee IndyCar Recap: Highline Practice, Race Strategies, and Surprising Winner00:09:34 - IndyCar Schedule Updates: Phoenix Return, Arlington Race, and League iRacing Influence00:14:11 - IndyCar Fanbase Insights: Listener Locations and Podcast Audience Demographics00:23:28 - NASCAR Daytona Weekend Recap: Overtime Finish, Playoff Format, and Notable Performances00:28:06 - Xfinity Series History: Mid-Race Driver Changes and Rare Backup Driver Victories---------Bottom Split Racing Series airs every other Monday at 10pm ET! Connor Zilisch's fall in victory lane was unfortunately the most talked about part of Watkins Glen weekend at NASCAR. In this week's Garage Talk we look at the fall and ideally how long will it take to recover and drive again with that broken collarbone? But first, we talk about the return of Wednesday Night Dash and the shocking situation where on a hot and slick track that eats tires like Las Vegas that we ran 70 laps caution free. We take a look at the upcoming season and next week's big challenge taking the cars to Gateway.Next, we move on and discuss the IndyCar race at Portland including Will Power winning for Penske (and his job on the line), Alex Palou clinching the championship with two races to go and the TV ratings. Finally, we move on and discuss NASCAR weekend at Watkins Glen including Austin Hill's continued questionable driving, SVG dominating the cup race, and yes, Connor Zilisch breaking his collarbone.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - iRacing Wednesday Night Dash: Caution-Free Race Recap and Tire Strategies00:05:24 - Upcoming iRacing Events: Milwaukee, Gateway, Texas, and Indianapolis Preview00:10:34 - Indy Racing World Series: History and League Growth00:15:33 - IndyCar Portland Recap: Alex Palou's Championship and Will Power's Victory00:20:41 - NASCAR Watkins Glen: Track Limits, Connor Zilisch Fall, and Track Safety Concerns00:25:45 - NASCAR Playoffs: SVG Wins, Points System, and Richmond Predictions00:30:40 - Next Gen Car Issues, Dodge Truck Return with issues?---------Bottom Split Racing Series airs every other Monday at 10pm ET! Erik fills us in on life with a 2nd child and how that adjustment has gone.Next, we jump into the big news of the week with FOX buying into Penske Entertainment (and ultimately IndyCar). Is it a good move for the series? What needs to happen to take advantage of this move?Next we jump in and discuss the racing at Iowa from ARCA all the way to the Cup Series. We also feature time discussing Alex Bowman constantly being on the hot seat in the press and will Hendrick actually let him go? If they do, what are the alternatives and what are the risks with those? Is it better to just stick with him? Finally, we discuss the upcoming iRacing league schedules from the season premiere of Wednesday Night Dash at Las Vegas to last week's Indy Racing World Series race at Phoenix.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - IndyCar partially sells to Fox Sports: What It Means for the Series00:01:20 - Iowa Speedway and ARCA Racing: Attendance, Sponsorship, and Struggles00:05:18 - Rising Costs in Motorsports: Pay Drivers and Team Survival Challenges00:10:20 - NASCAR Silly Season: Alex Bowman, Connor Zilisch, and Hendrick Rumors00:15:29 - Hendrick Motorsports History: Notable Wins and Driver Changes00:20:37 - Watkins Glen Preview, SVG vs Buescher, and Formula 1 Summer Break00:25:38 - Racing Numbers, iRacing Recap, and Upcoming NASCAR & IndyCar Events---------Bottom Split Racing Series airs every other Monday at 10pm ET! If you watched the Bottom Split Racing Series on @Stadiumscene on Monday night you noticed D.J. was logged in, but did not grid or race. He ran into technical troubles with the Meta Quest 3S and trying to race in VR. In this week's Garage Talk he kicks off the show talking about the major software bug that some users are struggling with in the Meta Quest 3 and 3S and why until that gets fixed, it's generally not a viable solution for most people. That and the fact you need a Computer Science degree to configure it.In part two of the show, Erik and D.J. recap the IndyCar race at Toronto including Team Penske having a bad day (again), Santino Ferucci missing the race after a crash during warm up, and Dale Coyne's driver Rinus VeeKay and also Kyffin Simpson on the podium! We move on and recap Denny Hamlin's win at Dover and the ongoing charter lawsuit between NASCAR and 23XI and Front Row Motorsports. Finally, we close out with a preview of this weekend's race at the Brickyard. No matter what happens in the mid-season challenge, Ty Dillon is the big winner regardless. Why is D.J. covering his face in the preview? Something involving a parody of a ear worm pop song, hot dogs, and COTA. Watch on and find out why!We had a time crunch this week, so a shorter on script show for once! On this episode of Garage Talk we look into SVG's continued road course dominance in NASCAR, is Connor Zilisch a future superstar for the sport, some iRacing discussion, and the poor attendance at the IndyCar Iowa race.We start off the discussion with Sonoma and how SVG dominated the Cup Race on a road course yet again, but 18 year old Connor Zilisch held him off with some amazing driving late in the Xfinity race. Are we seeing a superstar in the making? Ty Dillon making the news with his (perfectly legal) bump of Alex Bowman on the last turn to keep his million dollar dream alive and more!Next, we shift over to iRacing and talk about our Michigan week (Tuesday IndyCar and Wednesday Night Dash Trucks). Bad restarts and bad finishes led to a mixed bag of results this week. D.J. also hypes a project he's working on to help users break into VR iRacing using the lower cost Meta Quest 3S instead of dropping $500 for the full Meta Quest 3.Finally, we close out the show talking about IndyCar's continued struggles to attract an audience before and after the Indy 500 and how lack of promotion by Iowa Speedway and the series led to really poor attendance, despite the racing being pretty solid.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Introduction to Garage Talk and Racing Highlights00:04:33 - NASCAR Points System and Playoff Controversies00:08:40 - Driver Personalities and On-Track Rivalries00:12:28 - VR Racing Experience and Equipment Setup00:16:54 - Michigan Race Recap and Driver Performances00:21:05 - iRacing Rain Racing Rules00:25:24 - Marketing Issues in NASCAR and IndyCar---------Bottom Split Racing Series airs every other Monday at 10pm ET! It’s a wild week in motorsports, and we’re breaking it all down on this episode of Garage Talk!First up: McLaren go 1-2, but all eyes are on Oscar Piastri, who’s not thrilled about his penalty. Just when it looked like that would dominate the headlines, Nico Hulkenberg storms onto the podium for the first time ever in his long career, a feel-good moment dominating the news cycle… until a few days later when Red Bull drops a bombshell and sacks Christian Horner! Then it’s time for Florida Man vs Arizona Man: Round 2! Who did it better? A shoplifter who used a UPS truck as a getaway vehicle or a guy who stole a water sprayer truck and took police on a joyride? Tell us in the comments which one gets your vote!Next, we head to the streets of Chicago to recap the NASCAR action. SVG continues to dominate, while Scott Dixon makes history with a win in his 21st consecutive season, all thanks to a rare mistake from Alex Palou. Finally, we wrap things up with a look at our upcoming iRacing events... whether you’re a driver or just want to catch the action, we’d love to have you join us on @StadiumScene TV!Like, comment, and subscribe so you don’t miss a lap of the action!---------Bottom Split Racing Series airs every other Monday at 10pm ET! We are finally back from our summer break! Erik is (mostly) moved in to his new place in Florida and we catch up on what we missed the last few weeks. We also introduce a new segment, Florida Man vs Arizona Man.First, we check in with Erik and see how his move to Florida is going and discuss when we'll see his return back to league racing. As a result of Erik being in Florida and D.J. in Arizona, we introduce our new segment "Florida Man vs Arizona Man". In this week's story Erik talks about a man posing as a flight attendant and getting free flights and D.J. talks about a serial fan interference offender at Diamondbacks games. Which is the crazier story? Let us know in the comments! We move on and catch up on all the racing that we missed over the last few weeks from Mexico City, the long hauler trip to and from, Pocono, and the exciting finish of Atlanta. IndyCar returns this week and we touch on F1 in Austria and will Max Verstappen head to Mercedes next year?⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Cold Open00:06:04 - Florida Man vs Arizona Man: Goofy Stories00:11:59 - NASCAR Race Recap and Driver Highlights00:18:02 - F1 Drivers in NASCAR: Success and Challenges00:24:22 - IndyCar and NASCAR Schedule Updates00:30:06 - F1 Rumors and Driver Standings Discussion00:36:11 - Upcoming Races and Events: What to Expect---------Bottom Split Racing Series airs every other Monday at 10pm ET! This week's episode is kind of short because if you can't tell from the box behind him, Erik is moving from Michigan to Florida! He goes over what brought that up. We're also taking next week off since D.J. will be out of town and Erik is moving so its our "Summer Break".The bulk of the show today is dedicated to looking over the 2026 Formula 1 schedule and the big item of note is Monaco is moved to mid-June and F1 will be taking on last part of the Indianapolis 500 directly in television ratings. With Indy 500 TV ratings on the rise again and still considered a mega event in the United States is this move smart? Is it just arrogance thinking they can take on the US's largest motorsports event in TV ratings? On the second half of the show, we recap NASCAR at Michigan, the excessive use of the John Fogerty guitar riff every time they come back from commercial, and the storylines coming up as NASCAR heads to Mexico for the first time in many years, IndyCar heads to Gateway, F1 heads to Canada, and we have the Le Mans 24 hour race all in one weekend! Oh and because of traveling and moving Erik and D.J. won't have time to watch any of those! "Two Idiots Talking Racing... and Stuff" sounds like a fitting tagline for this show, isn't it? Today on F-R Racing's Garage Talk we officially adopt that as the tagline for the show. What started as a quick and serious show evolved into what you see and listen to on a weekly basis so we felt it was time to start updating the branding to match the show.We kick off the show this week discussing the latest in iRacing including Erik's surprisingly good performance at Lime Rock Park, D.J. having to switch to the booth last minute, and the upcoming schedule (including our all new Bottom Split Racing Series beginning on June 23rd! If you're wanting to break into oval racing or just struggle on ovals, we're the development league for you! $10 broadcast fee gets you into 8 races every other Monday at 10pm ET.On the second half of the show we discuss a racing weekend full of drama including Alex Palou being wrecked out at Detroit, McLaughin vs Siegel, and Louie Foster's suspension breaking. We move on and discuss week 2 of NASCAR on Amazon Prime Video and the increasing uproar of older fans threatening to never watch NASCAR again over the move, how the broadcasts are going and the drama between Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.Finally, we discuss the Max Verstappen's incident with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix and the hilarious Internet theory on why Max purposely tried to get himself suspended for the Canadian Grand Prix (it involves Le Mans).Don't forget to enter our contest by June 30th for a chance to win an autographed 1:24 scale William Byron diecast. On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, we give a brief mention to the F1 Monaco "race", because that's all it deserves, one of the weirder Indy 500's we've ever seen, and the first NASCAR race on Amazon Prime Video.First up, we talk about the F1 Monaco Grand Prix and as expected it was a parade with no on track passing, and the required two pit stop strategy didn't work out. Next, and the bulk of the show we talk about the Indianapolis 500 from the pre-race helicopter flyover, Scott McLaughin's pace lap crash warming his tires, numerous incidents on pit road, timing and scoring issues at the track, and the botched coverage of the finish. Finally, we talk about the Coca Cola 600 and Amazon Prime Video's approach to covering the event and how it varied tremendously from what FOX did. Are we going to be spoiled by the month of race coverage?Don't forget to enter our contest for an autographed William Byron 1:24 scale diecast. You may recognize his voice from the Bristol Season 12 Wednesday Night Dash race, and the first two season 5 Indy Racing World Series races.D.J. and Erik missed badly by predicting Robert Shwartzman would be the one bumped from the Indy 500 field, but instead he is the first rookie to sit on the pole since 1983! We apologize to him and Prema for our bad prediction.Next, Jackson fills you in on the Team Penske scandal involving the illegal modification to the attenuator from what is the attenuator used for, why you can't and shouldn't perform any modifications to it (safety issue), and break down the fallout for top Penske management getting let go over for now their second scandal in two years. In the second half of the show we preview the upcoming weekend of racing including F1 at Monaco, the Indy 500, and NASCAR at the Coca-Cola 600.
