The opening question I ask my guest Scott Ambler may sound eschatological. Still, he recently caught the attention of the Agile community with these terms in a series of articles that you'll find in the comments of this post. Scott Ambler is a prominent figure within this community: Creator of the Agile Modeling (AM) (AgileModeling.com) and Agile Data (AD) (AgileData.org) methods and co-creator of PMI's Disciplined Agile (DA) toolkit. As a conference keynote speaker, he speaks about agile data warehousing (DW)/business intelligence (BI), enterprise agile, and agile architecture. Agile was a transformation in the way of working that began in software development and ended up impacting all areas of management in organizations. In the first article, Scott clearly and courageously lists the mistakes made by companies and professionals who led this transformation. They are now paying the price with the loss of credibility and questions about the value obtained from investments made in Agile methods. In a second article, Scott presents the paths he believes can help the community move forward. Both articles are unmissable. In this interview, we will hear Scott's arguments from his voice and we will be able to understand what led him to write these articles. Join us live and bring your questions and comments.

Filip Hendrickx and Fabrício Laguna facilitated a tutorial workshop at BBC 2024, the official international IIBA's Business Analysis Conference in Orlando, Florida, USA. During this workshop, attendees will experience how BA techniques can help organizations to become nimble. This episode of the Brazilian BA Guest was transmitted live from the event's IIBA booth to share some of the findings from this experience and, maybe, some additional guests might appear. Note: Nimble is defined by IIBA in a Global Research for Business Leadership as “the scalable capability for organizations to sense and respond to change”. #thebrazilianba #nimble #bbc_conf #iiba
Use Cases used to be the most common technique for software behavior specification in the 90s. With the rise of Agile frameworks and methods, it became wrongly perceived as a waterfall approach and user stories have taken over part of what use cases did, but there is still a big hole in product development practices. Now, Dr. Ivar Jacobson, the creator of use cases, and Dr. Alistair Cockburn, one of the Agile Manifesto authors, are reframing Use Cases to place it back where it belongs. Despite use cases is not a commonly listed technique in Agile practices, its usage has been proven immensely valuable by many practitioners. Use cases fill a hole that is not covered by any of the other practices such as value stream mapping, customer journey mapping, feature slicing, behavior-driven development, acceptance test-driven design, story maps, user experience design, and design thinking. In this live podcast, I will chat with Ivar Jacobson to talk about how use cases relate to these other practices, in particular use stories. Even more important, is how use cases can be applied nimbly in organizations that must sense and respond to change quickly and precisely. #thebrazilianba #nimble #usecases #agile #techniques #softwareengeneering #businessanalysis Links mentioned are available at: https://thebrazilianba.com
