Help me Obi Juan Kenobi, you’re my only ho! In honor of Carrie Fisher’s birth month, we are dedicating this episode to diving into the one and only Princess Leia Organa. She’s a feminist icon who broke boundaries and withstands the test of time, though she can often be misunderstood. Join us on our discussion of everything Leia, from her relationships to her costumes! Welcome to the second episode in our Fixing the Sequels series! This time we’re focusing on that controversy of all controversies, Jake Skywalker. Some people liked him, others felt like he was an insult to everything Star Wars had ever stood for before this, but we had some ideas on what we would’ve liked to have seen happen for the character in the Sequels. Episode 32 - Beam Us Up!

Everyone knows that the best “Star” franchise is indisputably Star Trek. With its deep themes, nuanced characters, societal parallels, and over 50 years of sci-fi dominance in the cultural zeitgeist, it just can’t be beat. Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA).https://linktr.ee/unleashthegoats
Star Wars has always used inspiration from other cultures in its visuals and worldbuilding, especially from Japan and SWANA, without always giving credit where it was due for that inspiration. Star Wars: Visions allows various cultures from around the world to take Star Wars back and put their own spin on it, making it one of the most creative and enjoyable pieces of media to come out of Star Wars in years. Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA).https://linktr.ee/unleashthegoats
Qui-Gon Jinn is one of the most misunderstood and controversial characters in Star Wars history. Whether you hate him or love him, everyone seems to have a strong opinion on who he is, what he’s done, and what his place in the narrative is.Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA).https://linktr.ee/unleashthegoats
If you don’t know what The Mandalorian is, you might have been living under a rock for the last few years. Regardless of whether you think it’s overrated or a masterpiece of Star Wars storytelling, there’s no denying that it’s had a major impact on the franchise since its release. Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). This one's for all the Greek mythology kids! Star Wars pulls from a LOT of different sources, from old American westerns to samurai movies to Flash Gordon serials. While it might not be the most well known inspiration for Star Wars, there's more similarities between the sprawling space opera and the ancient religion than you might think! Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). Wookies are one of the most well-known and underrated alien species in Star Wars. We discuss some of our favorite wookiee characters and what we would like to see more of for this beloved species in the future. Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). It’s the season for spookiness and things that frighten you. And there is nothing scarier than truly terrible writing. So this month, we’re discussing the Star Wars family that has had such horrendous writing across the board that it has given us nightmares and, sometimes, ulcers. This is: The Kryze Family. Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). The Clone Wars is a beloved show that many Star Wars fans remember very fondly and is often credited with saving the Prequel Trilogy. So for our second anniversary, we decided to discuss why we find The Clone Wars to be vastly overrated. Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). From Star Wars’ Most Controversial Baby to one of the best villain deaths we’ve seen in a long time, we discuss Andor’s second season: the things we loved, the things we didn’t love, and everything in between. It may not have been a perfect season, but for a show no one believed in at the start, Andor seems to have changed Star Wars for good. Aromantic and asexual representation in media is pretty sparse, and that’s no less true in Star Wars. This Pride month we discuss the specific aromantic and asexual characters in Star Wars, how well we feel that representation was done, how the Jedi fit into that without anyone ever intending them to, and what more we’d love to see in the future. For more information on asexuality and aromanticism, visit https://www.asexuality.org. https://asexualsanonymous.tumblr.com/resourcesBlackkat on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/users/blackkat/pseuds/blackkat Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). We're back with another installment in our fixing the sequels series, this time to talk about the New Republic and the Jedi Order! Why did Luke's order fall apart the way it did? Did we really have to destroy the ENTIRE New Republic with one shot?? Who is funding the Resistance and the First Order??? Has Nat even SEEN these movies????Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). It’s been a while since we talked about some of our broader opinions, so this is a grab bag of a few general Star Wars things that we wanted to give some more consideration to!Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). Redemption is complicated. It means a lot of different things to different people. But it’s also a concept that a lot of people find really important in their lives, so it has a tendency to show up in stories quite often, including Star Wars. We discuss the different ways you can interpret the idea of redemption, some of our favorite examples of well-written redemption arcs in media, and the ways Star Wars has incorporated redemption into its narratives. Our intro and outro music is Mos Eisley Cantina by Spiedkiks on Free Music Archive (CC BY-SA). It’s Nat’s birthday month and if there’s one thing we know about Nat, it’s that she LOVES an excuse to talk about Andor, so since season two will be airing in two months, we decided to celebrate both things at the same time. Rebellions take a lot of work, so we discuss some of the primary things that you need to make a rebellion truly successful and how Andor showcases this through the various different characters and locations in the story. If you haven’t seen the Star Wars Holiday Special or don’t even know what that is, no one would blame you and most would probably call you lucky. The Star Wars Holiday Special is an iconic piece of Star Wars history, though (and technically it’s canon!), so we decided to take a look at it and discuss some of its highs and lows in time for the holiday season! This time, we’re discussing some of our most and least favorite villains and antagonists that have exactly nothing at all to do with Anakin Skywalker, for better or worse.
