Interview with Bibi Setareh Manavi – Simine Paris Group Exhibition (25–28 September 2025)During the group exhibition hosted by Simine Paris from 25 to 28 September 2025 at 24 Rue de Penthièvre, 75008 Paris, we had the pleasure of speaking with the Franco-Iranian multidisciplinary artist Bibi Setareh Manavi.The exhibition brought together Mehrdad Naraghi, Nastaran Safaei, and Bibi Manavi, three artists who embody a generation rooted in Iranian cultural heritage while fully engaged with global contemporary expression.A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Manavi reimagines the Iranian mirror-mosaic craft Aineh-Kari, replacing traditional geometric tessellations with biomorphic patterns derived from the cellular structures of endangered plants. Her mirrored sculptural panels intertwine ecological disappearance with personal reflection.The exhibition also featured works from her Memory of Plane Trees (2024) series—sculptural meditations on urban plane trees as vessels of shifting collective memory.This interview was produced by Kasra Aliha, with cinematography directed by Behnood Massoumi, in Paris.A heartfelt thank-you to Leila Varasteh for her invaluable support.Entretien avec Bibi Setareh Manavi – Exposition collective Simine Paris (25–28 septembre 2025)À l’occasion de l’exposition groupée présentée par Simine Paris du 25 au 28 septembre 2025 au 24, rue de Penthièvre, Paris 8ᵉ, nous avons eu le plaisir d’échanger avec l’artiste franco-iranienne Bibi Setareh Manavi.L’exposition réunissait Mehrdad Naraghi, Nastaran Safaei et Bibi Manavi, trois artistes représentant une génération à la fois enracinée dans l’héritage culturel iranien et largement ouverte au monde contemporain.Diplômée de Central Saint Martins, Manavi revisite l’art traditionnel iranien de l’Aineh-Kari, en remplaçant les motifs géométriques par des formes biomorphiques inspirées des structures cellulaires de plantes menacées. Ces surfaces réfléchissantes tissent un dialogue entre mémoire écologique et regard individuel.L’exposition mettait également en avant des œuvres de sa série Memory of Plane Trees (2024), une méditation sculpturale sur les platanes urbains et leur rôle dans la mémoire collective.L’entretien a été réalisé à Paris, avec la production de Kasra Aliha et la direction de la photographie de Behnood Massoumi.Nous adressons nos remerciements chaleureux à Leila Varasteh pour son soutien précieux.گفت‌وگو با بی‌بی ستاره معنوی در نمایشگاه گروهی سیمین پاریس (۲۵ تا ۲۸ سپتامبر ۲۰۲۵)در نمایشگاه گروهی سیمین پاریس که از ۲۵ تا ۲۸ سپتامبر ۲۰۲۵ در نشانی ۲۴، خیابان پنتی‌یِوْر، پاریس هشتم برگزار شد، با شور فراوان با هنرمند چندرشته‌ای ایرانـی–فرانسوی، بی‌بی ستاره معنوی گفت‌وگویی انجام دادیم.در این نمایشگاه، سه هنرمند مهرداد نراقی، نسترن صفایی و بی‌بی ستاره معنوی نماینده‌ی نسلی بودند که در پیوند با ریشه‌های سرزمینی و در عین حال جهان‌وطنانه، زبان تازه‌ای از هنر معاصر ایران را شکل می‌دهند؛ زبانی آمیخته به حافظه، نماد، زیست‌بوم و آزادی بیان.بی‌بی ستاره معنوی، دانش‌آموخته‌ی مدرسه‌ی سنترال سنت مارتینز لندن، در کار خود هنر آیینه‌کاری ایرانی را بازخوانی می‌کند و به‌جای نقش‌های هندسی سنتی، الگوهای زیست‌ریختی برگرفته از ساختارهای سلولی گیاهان رو به نابودی را می‌نشاند. بدین‌گونه، سطوح آیینه‌ای او به صحنه‌ای بدل می‌شود که در آن تماشاگر، زیستِ در حال محو شدن طبیعت را در بازتاب خویش تجربه می‌کند.در این نمایشگاه، آثاری از مجموعه‌ی یادِ چنارها (۲۰۲۴) نیز ارائه شد؛ مکاشفه‌ای پیکره‌وار بر درختان چنار، این حافظان خاموش خیابان‌ها، که در آثار معنوی بدل به نقش‌مایه‌هایی از حافظه‌ی جمعی در حال دگرگونی می‌شوند.این گفت‌وگو با تهیه‌کنندگی کسرا علیها و مدیریت فیلم‌برداری بهنود معصومی در پاریس انجام شد.سپاس ویژه از لیلا وراسته برای همراهی ارزشمندشان.

The interview, produced and conducted by Kasra Aliha with Behnood Masoumi as director of photography, offers an intimate and in-depth look into Atrak’s latest collection, “Be, and it is | Kun Fayakun.”Rooted in images that surfaced during psychoanalytic sessions, Atrak’s new body of work interweaves mythology, personal symbols, and historic visual references. Through the printmaking process, she has given form to inner visions that, though personal, invite broad interpretation.She explains, “The phrase Kun Fayakun came to me in a session—both terrifying and liberating. It reflected the risk of revealing those inner images, but also the divine or creative will to bring them into being.”Born in Isfahan and based in Tehran, Atrak began her professional art career in 2013.
