The GOP midterm convention is under way. There is excitement at the prospect of refocusing the brand and the messaging that led to a "too-big-to-rig" win for Donald Trump; there are also some troubling things that are sneaking their way into that messaging. Since the convention is still ongoing, I'll wait to do a full review, but I have a couple of points I want to raise. About three years ago, the known terrorist group, Hamas, murdered over 1,200 innocent men, women, and children in horrific, gruesome barbarity, and took 254 hostages in an effort to shield themselves from the righteous response that they expected. Among the dead were 46 Americans. Another 12 Americans were kidnapped and tortured for months before the United States and Israel managed to secure the release of those who survived the starvation and torture. Yet, the horror of the October 7th terror attack seems to be fading from the minds of Americans as antisemitism steps out of the shadows (let's be honest, it has always been there waiting for its chance to re-emerge) and support for Hamas seems to be growing. (I would point out that in true leftist propaganda fashion, "they" say support for the Palestinians, but then they ignore the fact that no one has suffered more at the hands of Hamas than the Palestinians. If you don't count the Oct. 7th victims.) It doesn't seem that long ago when we all generally understood that the NBA was for men and the WNBA was for women. But then we entered the age of "Men can be Women," and so we were no longer permitted to publicly define what a woman is. However, we were expected to start referring to them as "birthing person" or something else that was just as equally asinine. Recently, a popular player in the WNBA insisted that a man cannot become a woman and that only women should play in the league for women. This led to a backlash from other players, coaches, and even the league "leadership," not to mention a number of activists on both sides of the argument who claim to be fans of the sport. Across the country, at both state and federal levels of our government, various agencies have countless employees. That may not sound very surprising to you, but maybe this will change that for you; I don't mean too many to count; I mean that they can't be counted because the positions are empty. In a phenomenon known as ghost employees, people leave a job, and the position remains vacant, or the government agency creates a new job and never fills it, budgeting for salaries and benefits for those positions. When caught, they argue that the position must be filled and that, when it is, they will need the approved funds to cover the costs of bringing on new people. They even claim this if the job in question has been open for years. When asked why the posts have remained vacant for so long, the universal response remains, "unqualified applicants."
